- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2015I loved the plot and the characters in this book. It reminded me of Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings because it requires so much of the reader. This is a complex and detail oriented book, which I happen to love. The political structure is fascinating, and the plot is really a set of several entwined stories.
I will be anxiously awaiting the sequel!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2014This book was kindly sent to me by the author to read but this fact does not influence my opinion of this book in any way.
Simply i did like it, the book has a complex political system but in my opinion that could have been fleshed out more, the characters while witty and cool weren't all that developed, and the chapters were way too long in my opinion, but you do get to see this very interesting world through many characters points of view ,which was nice, i also kept forgetting the characters names and i didn't really feel all that attached to them.
All in all this was a pretty ok book which kept me entertained and if there is ever a sequel i would read it but it could be a lot better, if the author can flesh out the characters more.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2015This book's first chapter starts rather slow. This is obviously due to the fact that the important characters need to be introduced. As of the second chapter, the story develops a pleasant flow, it becomes a gripping story with interesting characters. There were some typos in the ARC, they are presumably corrected by now.
With Adversaries Together, Daniel Casey has created a quite thrilling fantasy story with characters to like and/or to abhor. The story comprises several plot lines; characters leave sufficient room for the readers' imagination; sufficient depth, nicely woven situations and interesting interactions. I started enjoying Adversaries Together as of chapter 2; I was drawn into the story then, looking forward to reading book 2 in the series. This is for you if you like fantasy (different clans, no sorcerers or dragons).
The interesting start of a fantasy series.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2015When I started reading this book I get a feel for it, the characters in this book are so fascinating and see the world through a number of eyes. The paragraphs given in this book are very easy for me to read and every word in this book has a beautiful meaning. It makes me to focus on every word and is basically pointed on ht e political situation. Daniel quiet well threaded the story lines together and neatly laid out the political intrigues and machinations. In my eyes a fantastic story packed with lot of information into short sentences. In my busy routine this book is a best option and a pretty great read. This book with its amazing characteristic and political point of views kept me entertaining and made me to think about political corruption and fantasy adventures. I remember when I first read this book I enjoyed a lot and entertained by the action was lost in this amazing political and scientific book and it still happens whenever I read this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2015This is an intricate and complex story. The political intrigue and complexity reminds me of a spy movie or political thriller, but taking place in a fantasy setting. I find myself thinking about the plot when I am not reading and trying to anticipate where it will go or what a certain character's motivations are. It took me a while to familiarize myself with the world in which the story takes place, but after frequently flipping back to the map and list of cities/countries I am starting to get a feel for it. I'm interested to read the upcoming books to see what happens and because I really like the characters. I bought an updated version of the book with fewer mistakes or typos than indicated in other reviews.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2015The Story of "Adversaries Together" is an intricate one.
As the reader follows a handful of characters and their journies across Syr Nebra the reader is taken
to many different places, some colorful and some dark.
The conversations between each character reveal a depth not only of their own, but of the world around them.
Adversaries Together proved to be a fascinating read. I did, however, notice the formatting to be
a bit odd. On my phone the format fit very well, but on my computer it seemed a bit out of place.
Perhaps smaller chapters or other slight edits may be in order.
All in all, a great read!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2014This is a fantasy story (sans magic) of intricate political schemes and world-building, filled with a large cast of characters finding their place. It's also a kind of odyssey tale, and a long prelude to a larger story, which will be forthcoming in the subsequent volumes, I assume. Good stuff.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2015Welcome to the world of Syr Nebra. A world of city-states and warring nations. "Adversaries Together" by Daniel Casey offers plenty of grit, political corruption and fantasy adventure. This novel has many strange and interesting characters. At times it was hard to follow but I stuck with it because I had faith that the author was "going somewhere" with it and that faith was justified by the end. Maybe it should have been longer to flesh out more concepts. I recommend it to readers that enjoy action and getting lost in a political/scfi book.
