    This series hooked me right in. I definitely am enjoying the series and find it to be a good young adult novel in that the protagonist while definitely struggling with life still comes out as the strongest person in the group. I get frustrated with needy female protagonists and this one strikes a good balance of needing help but still being independent and thoughtful in her approach to her challenges.

    If I had any criticism at all I would say that it’s the lack of diversity in the cast of characters. There are no LGBTQIA characters. There is only two people of color that I noticed mentioned at all. In a modern urban setting I would expect a much more diverse cast of characters.
