After the Lies: A True Story Kindle Edition
He was 11. She 36. The betrayal was just the beginning.
Imagine the heartbreak of a best friend committing the ultimate act of betrayal by preying on a child. Not just a friend, but a mother herself. A trusted family friend crosses the line with a helpless boy, then turns one horrific act into a full-blown nightmare which would continue for years to come.
Read the shocking true story of what happens when a female sex predator completely consumes an 11-year-old child’s innocence, then does the unthinkable by carrying his child to term in a sick and twisted fantasy. The years preceding the initial discovery of this horrendous act serve as a precursor to the unbelievable events which followed, and the cruel twist which would leave her mark on the victim forever.
After the Lies is the true story of a friendship born in the suburbs, which would ultimately lead to one of the most extreme crimes any mother could face.
Did the punishment fit the crime? You decide.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2022This is a 10 star read. The truth and honesty the writer gives the reader is truly amazing given his place in the story. No name calling or back biting or bitter words to share the horror of what this sexual predator did to all of those involved. Of course, they would have been deserved. He tells us how cruel and unjust the legal system can be while the victims all carry a life sentence. Every parent should read this book for two reasons. The first is to be aware how easy it can be for the same type of thing happening to their family and second to make them aware how the legal system needs to be changed against pedophiles.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2022Memories! This story brought back some dark memories. Would I read another one like this you ask? My answer would be yes,yes of course I would!
Not going into my private details, this story reminds us that evil does lurk its ugly head everywhere. In the affluent, in the middle, in the not so middle, and yes, even in the deep end of the pool.
Simon tells us of the start, the middle but never the ending of a horrific chapter in the lives of his family. And how, by God, they were able to come to terms of "war" they were going to survive in order to save, protect not only the son involved but the little one --and ALL the family members inevitably involved! Both immediate, and others entwined within.
Hats off to you Simon for letting us glimpse inside your (and your family) life and the struggles you all have endured at the hands of abuser, predator. And all of us that read this story, should all include you, Julz , the other children and lastly your Little Miss in our prayers for continued peace.
Thanks for opening your heart, home and personal life..I truly thank you! (This could cause a trigger or two in some)---P/
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2024What was Jack doing while grams and gramps was dealing with raising his child? Seems like there should have been more about him. I hope things are working out well for this family. As for myself that witch would be looking over her shoulder for the rest of her life
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2024I'm very speechless, how can a grown woman groom an innocent boy and get away with it for so many years. That boy had to grow up fast, he lost his teenage years. It makes me mad. I loved how the boys parents took in their granddaughter away from that monster.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2022Simon has a way of telling a story that makes you feel you are right in the middle of it. His gift and discernment of knowing what and how to word things is a truly remarkable gift. Thank you, Simon, for sharing this part of your life and bringing awareness to such a difficult subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing book
I usually don’t read true stories, but this one stole my heart. The grandpa writes it so touchingly that it is hard to put the book down. I wish the best for Little Miss and Jack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sad story, but shows how resilient, decent people can be
A heart rending read, I hope little miss enjoys her life to the full and lives her best life, she's certainly had the best people help her through some difficult years, this book brought me to tears on several occasions being a father to 3 beautiful daughters, I'm very thankful we never had to endure anything like this, stay safe all of you and hope life rewards you well because you damn well deserve every happiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
Honestly this book opened my eyes as as you said you don't often see women as the abusers but it does happen. It was so emotional and beautifully written. What you as a family went through and have achieved since is outstanding. I hope you all and little miss have a brighter future x

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a taboo subject
But the author writes matter of factly and honestly about his families situation. I understand that some might consider the book "light on detail" for the crimes but I appreciate the avoidance, it's not what this book is about and I think it's very clear the harm this sort of offending causes
