    Cassie still finds herself living with a rather complex family although at the beginning they are all smiles and very friendly. Her broken psyche and low self esteem lead her to take wrong steps and assume wrong things about a relationship with her employer who is a compulsive liar. As in the previous book, she is highly dependant on her meds and when she doesn't take them she is almost delirious and sees or hears things that are not there. The children in the family also hide their secrets and the plot will only totally unravel at the end.
    The main character - Cassie - seems to end this story much more self centered and reliable and definitely in search of healing from her past issues than before. Great entertaining!

    Book 2 in “The Au Pair” series was terrific. I almost liked it better than book 1. I also pre-ordered book 3, & am looking forward to reading it.
    One thing I’m wondering is this: Why is Cassie Vale getting into so much trouble with her assignments? This woman has the worst luck! Everywhere she travels, she ends up with another body in front of her. Somebody dies & she ends up being blamed for the crime.
    Each dreadful episode she’s involved in makes her stronger. In book 2 she finds a hidden reserve of strength & ingenuity she didn’t know was there.
    I could hardly wait for release day of book 3——Almost Dead!!

    Almost Lost (The Au Pair #2) was a great read by Blake Pierce. Cassandra is still reeling from the last placement in France. She meets a divorcee that is vacationing in the British countryside that puts out an ad for an au pair. Everything seems to go great until a startling revelation forces her to question the truths of her past, her employer and her sanity. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

    A wonderful book and Katie Silverthorne is an awesome reader! I love her voice and how she reads the books I've listened to so far.

    Cassie in the book is a little naive in this book, which is at points mind blowing but overall it's a great follow up on book 1. I'm very very curious about Jacky and her whereabouts and wonder if Cassie will ever be in touch with any of the children ever again. Looking forward to listening to book 3!

    I was hoping that the second book in the series would be a bit better, but maybe it was even worse. The main character is a young American woman, with the brain of a twelve year old (I apologize with the 12 year olds...).
    She is mostly describing her feelings towards the people surrounding her, but without grasping much of the actual situation. Invariably is finishes up in bad situations, believing anything what other people say. Her actions are often stupid and she puts herself in great peril. In some way she manages not to get killed, while corpses are accumulating, probably because the writer needs her for the next book of the series.....
    I have thought for a moment that the book was intended for children and teenagers, but I would not recommend it, because of all the killing and abnormal (unrealistic) family situations.
