Greg is running out of second chances at a new life, but if he wants to stay breathing he has no choice. Will he find the family and love he's always dreamed of?
When Greg Mitchelson’s home is torched and his employer killed, Greg fears it's retribution for his past testimony against a notorious drug gang. Alone, with no money and only the clothes on his back, Greg turns to Colm Riordan, the Deputy US Marshal who's protected Greg for the last 3 years. But Riordan doesn’t return Greg’s phone calls, and the local Marshal’s office refuses to help him.
In desperation, Greg goes on the run to Wyoming to find his brother, Mitch, whom he hasn’t seen in over a decade. As he reconnects with his brother, Riordan appears, searching for his missing witness. But Greg needs the answers to a lot of questions before he’ll trust Riordan again. Why didn’t he return Greg’s call? Is Riordan there to help Greg – or kill him?
Sue Brown's tense action series where risk and romance are played for high stakes. Passion and danger are always close to home in J.T’s Bar, where alpha men get a second chance at love.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2020I’m really digging this series! As one who tends to read a lot of paranormal and Sci Fi, this is a huge welcome for me. - Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2024Reoccurring characters from book one play a role in this book. Mitch's brother, Greg runs to TJs bar to find his big brother since he was in trouble. Riordan was the federal marshal in charge of protecting Greg and comes to find him. Of course, there's falling in love and drama with danger.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2019This was so much fun to read...not because of of the dead bodies...but because of the fear of one of them being that of your favorite chef...or his lover...or his brother...or his brother-in-law. Well you get the picture.
Mitch's brother, Greg, shows up at Jake and Mitch's bar in a sparsely populated area of Colorado. He's fled from another attack by a mafia family...and he's no where else to go. Close behind him is the U.S. Marshall, Colm Riordan, who is supposed to protect him through the Witness Program he's been in for years.
Things heat up when bullets start flying, attraction is acted upon, and weapons seem to be everyones hands. What makes this book so good is the crazy schemes men come up with to thwart criminals and the unexpected arrival of someone who was supposed to be dead. Then throw in a woman bent of keeping her man out of jail and another woman who has found her backbone late in life, and you have some insights into life you might not be familiar with...
Just remember, keep Moose out of the kitchen...unless maybe he has a hidden talent no one knew about before.
Enjoy!

Mitch's brother Greg shows up out of the blue to J.T.'s Bar. He's on the run from someone trying to kill him, having been in witness protection for fourteen years. When his marshall Riordan tracks him down and takes him away to safety, the attraction they have been battling for the last few years boils over with the forced proximity. The numerous sex scenes are steamy and more detailed in this one, so it works better as an erotic romance than a suspense/thriller. It is on the insta-love side because although Riordan may know almost everything about Greg, Greg knows next to nothing about Riordan and it's his POV.
Unfortunately the character descriptions are still not very detailed, so there is nothing more about the covert ops team members, nor about the sheriffs or marshalls either. There are a few plot twists as they try to catch the bad guys, including the mole in WITSEC. When the danger is over Mitch's and Greg's parents show up, so the last third is family drama. This is actually my favorite part as Mitch and Greg bury their past and start fresh with Greg working as a cook at the bar. Greg also has to figure out how to move forward with Riordan. I felt more attached to Mitch and I really liked Greg and Riordan as characters.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2020I recently found this series and fell in love with these characters. This story starts with a surprise and if pretty full of action throughout. This has to be one of the most heartbreaking stories I’ve read in quite awhile. How parents can toss kids away is beyond me. Greg sure is an example that made me want to cry. It appears nothing in his home life was ever good for him. Yet somehow he turns out to be a great guy. As his story is told I could not help but shake my head a number of times. Thankfully the author found a way to make his relationship with his brother turn out okay. It is also interesting to watch how he handles his interactions with his Marshal. I’ve loved each of the stories I’ve read in this series but I sure have a soft spot for this one. I hope the author carries forward these characters since I’m interested where they end up.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2018Liked this one better than the first until we got to the end of the story . Now we have a mom whose brother was lost , a dad who is all kinds of wrong & a gay cop setting on the sidelines . I don't know , the lead way into other books was alittle rough even though we get HEA . I think I'm done if there is ever a #3 . Sorry 😏

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this series. Highly recommend
A fantastic story and another for the series too. I loved Greg and Riordon as they fraught hard against their feelings. A great story as Greg reconnects with his brother who he hadn't seen in 14 years. Old hurts are brought up with their parents with a surprise installed for Greg and Mitch. Dangers not far for Greg which kept the story engaging, i loved the ending of this which was great. I cant wait to see who the next character's story is in the series. Howie and Moose are definitely some of my favourites.
Greg 32 yrs had been safe for the past 3 years, now he was on the run again cause they'd found him. Hopefully his brother, Cole aka Mitch would help.
Deputy Marshall Riordon finds his missing witness protection man, Greg at his Mitch's bar.

4.0 out of 5 stars Long time coming but worth the wait.
This series is best read in order as the characters pop up in both books and the relationship between all the characters is integral to the stories.
This book focuses on Mitch's younger brother Greg who through no fault of his own is in witness protection and when his cover is blown he flees to the other side of the country to reconnect with his brother.
Riorden is the Marshall in charge of keeping Greg safe but when Greg's whereabouts are leaked to the drug Lord who wants Greg dead he realised someone in his office is working with the drug lord and it's his job to find Greg again and protect him. Greg has had a crush on Riorden for years and when he reappears sparks fly. Can Riorden protect Greg and can Greg finally after fourteen years get his life back. Read to find out. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fabulous book by Sue Brown
I love this series. Always full of action, suspense and hot moments.
Mitch's little brother shows up at the end of the first book and in this one we have his story.
He's on the run thinking he's been dropped by the people who are supposed to be watching out for him.
The book is engaging and kept me turning the page until the book was finished.
