The Alpha's Home (The Protection of the Pack Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 205 ratings

An omega forced to mate an alpha he hates turns to his beta best friend for help to escape--but the only way out is to be stolen by another alpha.

Grant Denny is an omega who never wanted an alpha mate. He doesn't want to be a sex toy for an entire pack, even if the alternative is to go through the agony of full moon heats locked up alone. But the choice has been taken away from him--he's been given to Cliff, an alpha he can't stand, who is keeping him in a remote cabin along with Jack, a beta who is his best friend, packmate, and the only person he's ever wanted.

Jack Merritt is trapped in his wolf shape by the cruel alpha who claimed Grant against his will, and took Jack along with him. Jack has loved Grant forever, and he'll do anything to stay with the omega--but Grant begs him to run away at the first chance, to try to find some way they can both escape before Grant's heat arrives and forces him to submit to the alpha. Jack would do anything for Grant, but leaving him behind is the hardest thing he's ever done.

Mike Gilford has been an alpha werewolf for half a year now, and he's ready to find a mate and start a pack of his own. He never imagined that he would find them like this--a lost wolf, hurt and helpless by the side of the road, and the trapped omega he leads Mike to rescue. Mike only wants to help, but the moment he meets Grant the pull between them is undeniable--and terrifying to Grant, who is trying to escape from being bent to an alpha's will.

Grant and Jack need a pack's protection, and Mike is willing to give it, but can he keep them safe without keeping them prisoner? Can Grant learn to trust that Mike isn't like the alphas he's met before, and that his destiny as an omega isn't the doom he's always feared? With the full moon and Grant's next heat on the way, there's not much time for three wolves to make themselves a pack and find their way home...

The Alpha's Home is a steamy standalone M/M/M Alpha/Beta/Omega first time werewolf pack romance!

Werewolf stories are a gamble. Authors get so caught up in their own fascinations with werewolves and sex, that they often forget the critical pieces like plot, world-building, and character development. Just because you want to write about a subject doesn’t mean you can or you should. At least, not without careful research and planning. I’ve been disappointed more often with this genre than I’ve been satisfied.

Never let it be said, though, that I’m not an optimist.

As of last night I finished this entire series and I loved it. The author is not only a good writer, but she’s funny and knows how to wring emotion out of a scene without saturating it in angst. I enjoyed how each story component neatly slid into place at the right time so that there was no head-scratching moment where a reader wonders how things went so off-course. And I’m particularly happy with this story since Mike was my favorite from the beginning and, I have to say, his pack is my favorite too. I think Rusty’s pack is wonderful too, but they were edged out in this story. As much as I love Sam, he sometimes grates. Grant, though, checked all my boxes: a feisty, stubborn, evolving omega with dreams overshadowed by caution and fears. His bond with Jack was lovely. And Jack’s unconditional love for Grant melted me. He was willing to suffer just to stay close to Grant in any capacity. Grant always knew, willing or not, he would be to focus of some Alpha’s world. Jack quietly wanted an Alpha to maybe care about him just a little.

What I enjoy most with Lux’s stories are the plots. There’s a real story there, not just a flimsy cardboard facade used as a prop for sex scenes. And, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I loved the plots and characters so much that I sometimes skimmed through a few sex scenes so I could get back to the story. True story. I’ve read, though, that some fans felt like sex happened too quickly for characters who barely met. I think they forget the nature of a wolf or even a dog. My dog was happy to hump any leg without so much as an introduction or drinks beforehand. Sex is in their nature, so I understand the importance and the frequency. I just ended up loving the plot more.

If I had any complaint here, and it’s minor, it would be Sam’s suggestions at the very end. He neatly put himself back at the center of things in spite of this being Grant’s story with Grant surviving a heat that he had been terrified of experiencing. When it was over, he still wasn’t positive about heats. He’s very young, has a bad history with heats, and hates feeling out of control. I would think Sam would have understood that Grant has a journey ahead of him in terms of finding his footing as an omega without giving up his independence. But Sam makes it known he wants everyone during his heat and I felt a bit resentful that he couldn’t just give Grant time to absorb his experience and make uninfluenced choices about his next heat. As I said, it’s not a huge deal, but it made me see Sam as a bit selfish and self-absorbed when I really just wanted to see the entire pack supporting Grant so that he understands his heats are treasured by the pack instead of a way for everyone to use his body.

I will definitely be reading more of this author. I’m now a fan.

I adore a/b/o and this was my first time reading original fiction with alpha/omega dynamics. I couldn't put it down. I loved how much of an easy going alpha Mike was and how very much in love Grant and Jack are. I love all the characters. Expecially Sam. If you enjoy a/b/o and like werewolf fiction this is such a good read. And the sex was very steamy and wonderfully written. There is just something to be said about a great written sex scene. I couldn't put it down. Will be keeping an eye out for further books in this series.

Spoilers- Loved this book the first time I read it, the characters as always were amazing. Then I read it the second time and I couldn't help but be upset for Jack. He loved Mike from the beginning and he just felt like a third wheel the entire book. Only there to make grant seem more desirable. Jack deserved better than what he got in this book. It's a shame.

If M/M/M sex is NOT your "thing", do not, I repeat, DO NOT read this series. The sex in these books is just off the wall (the floor, the bed, counter tops, wherever sex can be had!!). But that doesn't take away from the story line at all. The flow of Love & intimacy in these stories is just awesome (or however you want to describe it)! So far there are 5 books in this series. I hope there's more to come. Dessa Lux has a way with words that will leave you wanting to connect with your own Alpha.

This was a fun continuation of the overall story, and I liked all of the characters, but I did find myself skimming as I read this book. That led to me missing details that I then had to go back and re-read to figure out what was happening. I don't think that it was anything wrong with the writing, just maybe with my mood.

I really enjoyed this story! I read it first of all the series, but I didn't suffer from not having the backstory. Dessa Lux does a great job of introducing the reader to her story and characters without it feeling like a history lecture. I loved the new characters and the old ones, and was interested the whole time. While the plot was predictable for someone who has read as many werewolf stories as I have (and that's a lot), it's solid and enjoyable, and I definitely didn't mind reading it again.

I tore through this book and can't wait to start it again. I love the new characters and how they integrated into the pack. I liked how they dealt with challenges, both external and internal. It was nice getting a bit more world building this time around too. I really really love this series. I want to keep reading about these guys for a long time!

I loved the plot and I'm sad that this book is finished. The way that Grant develops as a character is great because it's not like someone's comes along to fix everything for him. He gets a chance to process what he wants by himself. Happy, smutty endings all around

Really hot and emotionally satisfying, I haven't been able to put this series down.

The first couple of chapters gave me serious butterflies from the hurt/comfort anticipation, and it really delivered! Just as good as the rest of the series without being at all repetitive. Satisfying ending but there's still lots I'm hoping to see in future books!
