Any Given Lifetime Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,112 ratings

He'll love him in any lifetime.

Neil isn’t a ghost, but he feels like one. Reincarnated with all his memories from his prior life, he spent twenty years trapped in a child’s body, wanting nothing more than to grow up and reclaim the love of his life.

As an adult, Neil finds there's more than lost time separating them. Joshua has built a beautiful life since Neil’s death, and how exactly is Neil supposed to introduce himself? As Joshua's long-dead lover in a new body? Heartbroken and hopeless, Neil takes refuge in his work, developing microscopic robots called nanites that can produce medical miracles.

When Joshua meets a young scientist working on a medical project, his soul senses something his rational mind can't believe. Has Neil truly come back to him after twenty years? And if the impossible is real, can they be together at long last?

Any Given Lifetime is a stand-alone, slow burn, second chance gay romance by Leta Blake featuring reincarnation and true love. This story includes some angst, some steam, an age gap, and, of course, a happy ending.

I enjoyed this book by my favorite author, Leta Blake.
I personally liked and felt the most empathy for Lee (especially), Derek, and Alice. They are side characters in this story, but they are the ones who tugged at my heartstrings the most.

This story is both unique and special, there's both parts from the future and parts of reincarnation
Joshua and Neil have a very special relationship that not even death can break.

I really enjoyed reading about Neil and how he knew right from a young age who he had been and who he was, who he loved and who he supposed to be with.
I thought I would be more off put by Joshua finding Lee in the meantime while Neil was growing up, but Lee is such a bright, loving, caring man and just what Joshua needed.

It's really a gift to write a story where one of the main characters has two relationships and make you invested in both, but this one manage to do so. And Neil isn't a particular easy man to like or love with his quirks and bash behaviour but his an Joshuas love is the real deal and strong enough to defeat death.

A big bonus is Neils wonderful mother who just loves and supports him even though he's not a easy child. Even with his over the top story about a previous life she's nothing but supportive.

Any Given Lifetime had a very unique plot. I cannot say I've ever read anything quite like it. I realize this book is a work of fiction but it definitely left me thinking about the possibility of something like what happened to Neil, actually happening.

Neil and Joshua dated once upon a time but then there was a tragic accident and Neil did not survive.
Fast forward 20 years, Joshua is in his 40s now. He has loved and lost more than once. When a young scientist shows up in his life (one who shares an uncanny resemblance to his dead first love) Joshua thinks he might be losing his mind. I really can't say I blamed him.

Any Given Lifetime is the first book I've read by Leta Blake. It is a story about love, loss, and then finding that love again in the next lifetime. Neil's love for Joshua was unwavering. He dies, is born again, and remembers his love for Joshua from a past life. What then begins to unfold is one of the most epic love stories I have ever read. This was a beautiful, emotional, memorable read. I loved every single word. I will definitely be checking out her backlist!

This is now my 3rd book by the author and my normal complaints from the previous 2 books are not found in this story. The storyline is actually very interesting - falling in love, loosing that person only to have them reincarnate and come back to you.

The story is also all over the place, the present, the past, the future. And it’s in dual POV but when the MC is a baby you get some time in the mom’s POV. I really enjoyed their initial meeting and relationship, I also enjoyed our other MC love story with the man that turns out to be his husband for a period of time. Even the growing pains of our MC Niel remembering his past life but having to wait to catch up.

Joshua, who ends up meeting someone and falling in love and getting married was a very sweet side story. Everyone still was very aware of how Niel held an important part of his heart and respected that. His husband went above and beyond to still honor that memory. It was all very well done. It was so well done that when the husband passes and our MCs meet 2 years later it was unsatisfying.

I even enjoyed the relationship Niel built with his roommate at school which lasted 2 years even if it was mostly physical with a side of friendship. But it was still 2 years of living together. Of course he was clear since day 1 he was absolutely head over heels for Joshua so that was no surprise.

The parts that I felt could have been done better is when they finally meet and Joshua starts figuring out who Niel really is. They immediately jump into bed for the longest ever sex marathon without even having a proper conversation first. Considering their original relationship was never consummated and Joshua had a whole marriage that was very sweet and well done this felt cheap. It was also a little careless for the roommates feelings. Yes it wasn’t a real relationship but before you jump into bed with someone how about you fully put an end to the causal relationship with your roommate first? Instead of being caught in the act.

Even after that it just didn’t improve for me. I wanted more sweet and tender moments and it was all obsession and non stop sex.

I swear I spent almost this entire book in tears. But I am a sap and the reincarnation stuff always gets me.

This was SO good. You feel the grief for Neil, the horror of being a child and seeing the man you love living his life without you.

At the height of a bout of depression I find Any Given Lifetime and am completely absorbed from the moment baby Neil watching TV says, that’s him, that’s Joshua. A tale of reincarnation or rebirth, of love traveling through time, of love so deep it finds its way back to where it’s supposed to be. I so enjoyed the mind-twist. Blake mastered this story so well. Highly recommend!

E soprattutto originale. Una trama molto particolare, che parla di un amore impossibile, che va oltre i confini della vita, riuscendo però a non sminuire ciò che è al di fuori di esso. Consigliatissimo

A wonderfully written book with an unusual storyline. I really enjoyed that Joshua had Lee who respected his former relationship with Neil and later on for Neil to do the same. Who knows what will be possible after this life. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A story to get lost in...
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 18, 2018
Joshua and Neil were only just at the beginning of their journey when fate stepped in and Neil was killed. Joshua was understandably devastated and it took him a long time to get back into the swing of life, but when he meets his future husband Lee, it seems as if he can finally move on from Neil. He never really does. He loves Lee but he will never stop loving Neil more. Meanwhile, a baby is born whose mother names him Neil. Coincidence? No - this baby is Joshua's Neil reincarnated an the had to grow up all over again until aged 20 when their paths cross once more. Both Neils are scientists working on a project involving nanites. Nanites have the power to heal many illnesses and prolong life. Past Neil left a foundation to continue the research which Joshua manages and present Neil receives funding from. When they meet once more, the stars eventually align and they are reunited through their immense love and passion for one another.
I LOVED this book. It transported to another age where anything is seemingly possible but where above all, love is the powerful healer. The characters were great. I loved how prickly and snarky both Neils were - with just the right amount of humour and affection. He has a unique personality that perfectly complements Joshua's more needy one. Joshua is a great businessman and respectful of others, but he needs Neil, then Lee, then Neil to validate him. His emotions are worn on his sleeve and he seems like a generous and adorable person. He worships Neil, past and present and loves him hard. Neil of the past is not really known to us too much, but Neil of the present is such a captivating character to read. He really is quirky with an interesting way of thinking that makes sense, albeit a little cruel an inconsiderate at times. He is very literal.
The sex was off the scale hot and wonderfully graphic - it helped to explain the measure of how the characters were feeling at the time and I really enjoyed all the scenes. They were extremely evocative and vivid.
As for the reincarnation theory - whether you believe in it or not - it still made for a fabulous love story. It had all the elements of wishful thinking with a dash of angst; a lot of humour and all kinds of ecstasy. I read this book in two days because I couldn't put it down... a really beautiful piece of work by Leta Blake.
