Any Luck at All: A Sweet Closed Door Romance (Asheville Brewing) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 2,587 ratings

A surprise inheritance. A crumbling brewery. A brooding brewmaster she absolutely should not fall for.

Georgie Buchanan doesn’t like beer, and she definitely didn’t ask to co-run her late grandfather’s failing brewery with her estranged siblings. But the only way to keep the business afloat is to hire River Reeves—the talented brewer who was like a son to Grandpa Beau.

River’s still reeling from betrayal and loss, but turning Buchanan Brewery around is a dream he can’t pass up. There’s just one complication: his new boss is gorgeous, stubborn, and completely off-limits.

Any Luck At All is a standalone small-town romance filled with family chaos, slow-burn chemistry, and a cat with serious attitude. Perfect for fans of funny, feel-good reads with a whole lot of heart.

The perfect balance🤍
Ohh I love this new romantic comedy series from Denise Grover Swank and A.R. Casella! I adore the main characters in this book. Georgie and River are the perfect couple. They compliment each other very well. The twists and turns just added the right amount of angst-in a good way of course for the reader. I laughed out loud so many times while reading this book! It was such a refreshing book to read, and exactly what I needed. Aunt Dottie is the best!! A lot of the times I was laughing due to her antics and quirkiness! Can’t forget about Jezebel. 🤣 This book truly has a perfect balance of romance and comedy. I highly recommend it.

If you've read DGS then the first couple of chapters it was obvious when the writes switched, so that made me struggle getting started...
However, once I got a few chapters in I was laughing out loud and enjoying all the characters! I would love to grow up to be an Aunt Dottie!! Her quirkiness, fun-loving energy, and grandma type of love all rolled into one person is amazing. There was one part that for me literally made my heart ache for Beau....It is really amazing when reading that an author can reach a person's emotions like that and make them feel so deeply for the characters. Awesome fun read!

Angela and Denise are perfect partners in romance. Lovely characters with lots of depth and growth and wonderful back stories. I’ve read most of the books in the Asheville Brewing series and loved them all. Once I start one of their books I don’t want to put it down, so I’m reading while I cook and clean and in bed under the covers. I highly recommend them all.

This is the first book in this series about the Buchanan family and the Buchanan Brewery in Asheville, North Carolina. It is a wonderful story full of friendship, family, quirky characters, drama, silliness, misunderstandings, and love. Georgie, one of the Buchanan siblings, has unexpectedly inherited the Buchanan Brewery from her grandfather. Her grandfather did not leave his house and brewery to Georgie’s father, instead leaving it to Georgie and her three siblings, one of which was a secret half-brother. Georgie, has just sold her famine products company for multi-millions and needs a new project. So she and her half-brother, Jack, decide they will try to run the brewery rather than sell it once they meet River, a talented brewmaster who just lost his job when his best friend sold out Fresh Catch, another local brewery, to a corporation. River and Georgie are drawn to one another but there are stipulations in the will that overshadow their fledgling relationship. On their way to their happily ever after, while trying to get Buchanan Brewery remodeled and reopened, River and Georgie have to balance their employee/boss relationship along with a no-fraternization clause, deal with evolving and shifting family relationships, and move past each of their trust issues. One of the best parts of this book is the quirky side characters and a scary cat. Rather than being overwhelming or detracting from the main love story, these secondary characters are central to the main love story and to the heart of what makes the story so wonderful. With Any Luck At All, Denise Grover Swank again proves she’s a master storyteller of sweet romances full of lovable characters with just a touch of angst. I am excited to read what’s next for the Buchanan siblings and their brewery.

I liked River and Georgie, they had a good vibe together and seemed like genuinely nice people, but their love story sufferes from a dose of insta-love, and they moved very quickly, emotionally, but especially physically.

Yes, this was closed door, but the door took a while to close 🙆‍♀️ and it felt a bit pointless when they later reminisced, fairly explicitly, about what what happened behind that door...
It wasn't *awful,* but I wasn't expecting it going into a "sweet closed door romance."

The last 20% was where it fell flat for me.

    ** Minor spoilers ahead! **

I was very frustrated that despite being lied to, and feeling understandable betrayed by basically everyone he cared for most, River was the one feeling the most guilty and apologetic. I HATE the "the man is always the villain" romance/romcom trope, and sadly, could see it coming for River.
Georgie did feel bad, but it was almost more selfish than sympathetic. She felt bad because she missed him, but she had countless opportunities to tell him the truth and she chose herself or her brother over River.

Their reunion/make up was so brief and didn't address much of anything as far as the challenges before them -- who gets the brewery? Who gets the house? Does he still have a job? It was very much focused on the 💕 love 💕 and happiness at being together again, and didn't address how she *had* doubted him, lied, and thought (even a little) that he'd undermine the brewery.

And while we got a dissection of Georgie's past choices, we didn't get any insight into why River had never had a successful relationship, or what exactly he'd gone through with his mom. That was disappointing and felt like a plot hole.

I really enjoyed this book about how River and Georgie recreated her family's beer brewing brand. In the midst of this well plotted and character driven story, there is a love story. Definitely a series to follow!

I loved this story! Georgie and her siblings inherit the family brewery and none of them know what they are doing. Georgie did connect and bond with her grandfather before he passed away and, believe it or not, she wants to give the brewery a shot.

But she desperately needs River's help—he really knows the business—and is the only one who can turn it around. But..... no mixing business with pleasure, right? That's when the fun begins! The chemistry between Georgie and River is fireworks! And the fun is watching them trying to NOT light the match that will set the fireworks off.

There is also a huge, wonderful, zany cast of characters that kept me in stiches throughout the whole book. Oh, if only we all had friends like these! Some of the situations they got themselves into made me laugh out loud.

Book #2, Better Luck Next Time, comes out on November 17th and I can't wait to go back and visit everyone again and see what they are all up to now.

I can't express how well written this book it. It contains all of the feels, especially in how dark the world have become this is a refreshing break from all the doom and gloom. Georgie and River are a perfect match in the right dysfunctional ways. All the characters I have fallen in love with and can't wait to catch up with them again in the next book. This book has left me laughing out loud looking a little insane trying to explain the kettle incident. You girls have done an amazing job with this book and can't wait to read more of you work.

Denise Grover Swank is probably my number one auto-buy author. I have read almost all of her books over maybe six or seven years, and she is always a firm favourite.

I really loved this start to a new series. Beau Buchanan has died and left his assets, primarily to his grandchildren, with who he’s never really had anything to do with. It turns out to be an enormous money pit! River, his brewmaster, is having issues with his former business partner, Finn.

This is an adorable plot full of humour as well as romance. There is plenty of laugh-out-loud moments as well as some full of sorrow.

As always, Denise has developed some tremendous strong characters; they have their own pasts and are gloriously flawed as ever. Though Beau doesn’t feature much for obvious reasons, I love him and his heart.

This book focuses on Georgia and River mostly ad their blossoming relationship. However, I also loved Jack, the ‘log lost’ half-brother the other siblings never knew they had.

The ending is perfectly set up for the rest of the series.

I don’t think I have ever met a Denise Grover Swank / D.G. Swank book that I didn’t love. As one of my all-time favourite authors and hands down my favourite Indie author, I highly recommend her. This book, of course, is no exception, another brilliant read!

I was really excited at the prospect of reading this book, and I was not disappointed. If it sometimes feels like it drags on a little, in the end, it was very worth it, and I can’t wait to read Addy’s and Finn’s story, and to know a little more about the whole Jack’s mysterious abrupt leaving.

    A cute feel-good story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who would inherit Buchanan Brewery?

That was the question everyone was asking themselves at the reading of Beau Buchanan's will. The answer becomes the opening of this new series by Denise Grover Swank and A. R. Casella.

There is a whole host of quirky characters in this book but the main ones are Georgie and River. Georgie wished she had a better relationship with her grandfather but didn't get the chance. River was mentored by Beau from a young age and felt his loss greatly.

The storyline is a little bit jerky in some parts but overall, it is a light-hearted rom-com that will give you a few chuckles.
