There Are No Saints (Sinners Duet Book 1) Kindle Edition
Mara Eldritch is a nobody. Broke and damaged, she works three jobs while creating paintings no one will ever see.
A chance encounter throws Mara into Cole’s path. When Mara escapes what appears to be certain death, Cole is intrigued. He starts stalking her, realizing there’s more to the struggling misfit than he ever would have guessed.
Cole becomes obsessed with Mara, breaking the rules that keep his true nature hidden. Mara knows he’s dangerous, but Cole is the only person who’s ever recognized her talent.
Cole is teaching Mara to get what she wants… what does he want in return?
The Lark Notes:
I have always been fascinated by true crime, as well as by villains and anti-heroes. A serial killer is, of course, the ultimate anti-hero — the baddest of the bad boys. Redeeming a character who starts so evil was a challenge that inspired me to entirely new heights and entirely new depths. Come on this darkly sensual and utterly brain-bending ride with me! — Sophie
"There Are No Saints” is the first book in the Sinners Duet. Reader be warned: this book contains extremely dark themes that might be triggering to some. This is a steamy serial killer romance that will take you on a journey through the twisted mind of an artist on the brink of madness.

Review
★★★★★ "The playlist is fire and so fitting for every situation Sophie outdid herself! I've never read a book that had songs to go with the scenes the way this did, like how a movie plays them in the background. It made it a whole new experience." - Erica R.
★★★★★ "WOW... Grippingly intense and rivetingly psychological, this story consumed me! I'm both mesmerized and aghast - brilliant story telling from Sophie Lark!" - The Romantic Rush Blog
★★★★★ "One of the most gripping, raw, and utterly mind-blowing romances I have ever read. It is sinister, sinful, and borderline insane." - PP's Bookshelf
★★★★★ "Sinful. Dirty. Addictive!!! Omg Sophie! This is one hell of a dark romance!!!! You've outdone yourself in this one!!! Mara and cole are just sublime!" - Clarissa K.
★★★★★ "I stayed up very late reading this hard to put down book. I loved the cat and mouse vibe between Mara and Cole. I liked how Mara's actions were often unexpected and surprised Cole. I was very impressed with how she was a strong heroine that refused to play the victim role despite her circumstances and what happened to her. " - Gina

Sophie lives with her husband, two boys, and baby girl in the Rocky Mountain West. She writes intense, intelligent romance, with heroines who are strong and capable, and men who will do anything to capture their hearts.
She has a slight obsession with hiking, bodybuilding, and live comedy shows. Her perfect day would be taking the kids to Harry Potter World, going dancing with Mr. Lark, then relaxing with a good book and a monster bag of salt and vinegar chips.

I read There Are No Saints and it was my first time reading Sophie Lark’s work. The plot, the characters, the slow burn, the suspense, the shock factor, the writing, the sentence structure, EVERYTHING was incredible. I cannot believe I took so long to read this book. I want to read every single thing she has ever written.
This book healed something in me. This is the first time in a very very long time that i felt connected to a female main character. I could see myself within Mara. I could see all the dark and twisted pleasures of life that I feel shame for in Cole. This book made me not want to be ashamed anymore.
As an aspiring author, there are a very select few that I look up to and strive to resemble, and Sophie Lark has become one of those authors.
Incredible, Perfect, Amazing, Beautiful, Dark, Deep

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This story has reached into my chest and grabbed ahold of my heart with both hands. It's engaging and twisted. I flew through it at a pace that was fast, even by my own standards. If I wasn't actively reading it, I was thinking about it. I was doing mental gymnastics to figure out how I could get back to it. Now that I'm through it, I can barely stand to spend more time reviewing it because it's delaying my start of the next book, but Mother Sophie deserves every rating and review for her wonderful work that she gifted us.
Cole is the ideal, morally grey book boyfriend with red flags left and right that only serve to draw us in. The tattoos!!! Love it! The voyeurism is hot! And Cole is the perfect protector, stalker, predator in every way.
I love the ties to art and creativity. Mara's body canvas, her angelic submissive, her demon all so descriptive and lovely. I also love the originality from Cole with his golden sculpture. And Shaw's rendition of Ophelia. All such beautiful ideas despite the gruesome activities that lead up to their creation.
Well-written and anxious to read book 2!

“I do not love men: I love what devours them.”
I am obsessed with this book. I’ve been wanting to read one of Sophie Lark’s books forever (she’s literally the reason I got KU, all the way back in September) and I’m so glad I finally have. I can’t say for sure if starting with the Sinners Duet was the way to go because, of course, I haven’t read anything else. I can say for sure that this is one of the best dark romance books I’ve ever read.
Let’s start off with the plot. I don’t want to spoil too much (though I will provide TWs at the end) but just know that this book is chaotic af and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our protagonist, Mara, is amazing. I would die for her. She goes through it in this book and has for her whole life, as most DR heroines do, but she’s able to get back up on her feet with Cole’s support. She has some truly iconic moments. I mean, she keeps a serial killer for company. Clearly, she’s a badass.
Said serial killer, Cole, is a character I was truly skeptical about. I went into this book wondering how Lark was going to make that work as a love interest, but she absolutely did.
I’m halfway through There Is No Devil right now and I can confirm that book 2 is just as dark, steamy, and impeccable.
