A Sense of Turmoil (Perceptions Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 160 ratings

With the countess’s health failing, Flora knows that Luke Beranger, the Earl of Swindon, will want to be with her grandmother during her final days. Luke returns from a prolonged visit to his family’s estate in Boston, bringing with him Miss Ottilie Fleming and her brother George, who has been managing the Beranger’s interests in America for the past ten years.

Flora suspects that Luke plans to propose to Ottilie. Suppressing her jealousy, she can sense no harm in Ottilie. The same cannot be said for her brother, whom Flora had been advised by Remus, her quixotic spirit guide, has ulterior motives.

Bereft by the death of the countess, Flora and Luke argue violently when she advises caution in respect of George Fleming. Luke makes accusations that he later regrets but cannot withdraw and which Flora cannot neither forgive nor ignore. Hounded by her family, only Archie Hardwick, now the Marquess Felsham, continues to offer her his support.

Heartbroken, Flora makes good on her intention to leave Beranger Court and set up home alone. But will her ambitious father leaver her in peace, and are Luke and Archie willing to let her go…

I’ve had over one hundred books published, ranging from Regency romance, (my first love), to contemporary women’s fiction and marine crime mysteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved these

    Do love this author.
Absolutely hooked on this series.I given 5? Stars as Its has everything I love in a good book love mystery plots funny spirit etc. about having a gift and using the gift for helping people which her domineering father wouldn’t let her which is why I was disappointed with the one of main character Luke.
I couldn’t wait to read the next one but disappointed when I finished it as I really wanted to absorb it but couldn’t wait to finish either.Sure you know what I mean.Loved all the characters I feel I’m there with them and how the author has me loving Luke but also has me so annoyed but frustrated cause I much prefer Archie and as confused as much as the main character Flora. Don’t know if that’s the authors intention but very well done.
The only negatives I have is flora is to independent when she’s in trouble which I do like but also like a bit of both maybe in the last book and where have the troublesome character gone to.Maybe will have to see if she’ll have her revenge.
So gutted and disappointed the last in the series wasn’t available and no date available 😭Feeling I’ve lost my book friends

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent story with endings and beginnings - not to be missed.

This is the fifth book in the series and my favourite so far. Luke is still convinced Flora would be an unsuitable countess while Archie would happily make her his marchioness. Moving Flora into her own house will enable this excellent author to introduce new characters while continuing the ongoing unresolved romance. As I read towards the end of this tale I was concerned there may be a rushed HEA but how wrong I was! I am very much looking forward to the next book as we now have Luke and Archie but only Flora and so there must be another young lady waiting in the wings as the gentlemen both deserve a loving wife. Flora's family provide the downside of relationships and no doubt will provided further trouble. This is an absorbing standalone which I highly recommend but be warned that you will not be able to resist pre-ordering Book 6!

Getting more and more gripping. What is going to happen next to Flora? Will we find out more about her sixth sense? Can't wait for the sixth book!
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the series and don't want it to end.
Highly recommend the series if you like a little mystery, magic and romance combined.
