At First Sight: Global Security Unlimited 1 Kindle Edition
Twenty years ago, Cress Taylor and Max Grant were strangers in Oxford, England, but when their paths crossed, a spark was lit. Now, in the hustle of bustling Chicago, Cress is a successful novelist receiving mysterious threats, and Max is a former spy working for a global security company. When Max sees Cress in a TV interview, it ignites his curiosity. They soon find themselves tangled in an intense game of cat and mouse. As Max swoops in to protect Cress from anonymous threats, they must decide if they are willing to risk their hearts and take a chance on love. As threats escalate and Max's big Scottish family arrives in Chicago for Christmas, Cress and Max must learn to trust each other and overcome their fears to have a Happy New Year. When Max Met Cress
Two strangers collide in Oxford, England.. Twenty years later they meet again in Chicago. They are tangled in an intense game of cat and mouse. As Max swoops in to protect Cress from anonymous threats, they must decide if they are willing to risk their hearts and take a chance on love.

Max Thinks About Meeting Cress Again
My skin prickles. Cressida Taylor is a burr in my brain. I think of her as the Irene Adler to my Sherlock Holmes. Not that I’m much like Holmes, but she is THE WOMAN.
Daydreams, sneaky bursts of elation segueing into frustration that I can’t bring my unruly mind to heel.

Goodreads Review
If you are a fan of romantic suspense with a hunky Global Security hero, a successful determined author, supportive friends, creepy stalkers, danger, secrets, bravery, a loving family, and a HEA that will leave a satisfying smile on your face, then you will love Cress and Max’s story. I’m looking forward to more from Sharon Michalove.
InD'Tale Magazine Review
Tonya Mathenia
Cress and Max both have life experiences giving them relevant reasons to steer clear of relationships and possible heartbreak; but all the more reason to know a leap of faith might be called for!
Sharon Michalove takes the hindsight fantasy of what may have been and polishes it up with a thrilling dose of it's clear to see, we were meant to be.

I grew up in suburban Chicago. After receiving four degrees from the University of Illinois, I spent most of my career at the university, eventually earning a PhD in the history of education. My research specialties are 15th-16th century European history, polar exploration, and food history.
I also love hockey, reading, cooking, writing, and various less elevated activities like sampling gins and single malts. After spending most of my life in a medium-sized university town, I moved back to Chicago in 2017 so I could go to more Blackhawks games and spend quality time at Eataly. In 2021, I accomplished a lifetime goal by publishing my first novel. I now have four novels as well as stories in various anthologies. Unfortunately my other lifetime goal, to be English, is likely to remain unfulfilled.
WRITER STATEMENT
I create stories full of romance, suspense, and mystery. Seasoned romance where love has no age limit. Stories that prove second chances can happen, enemies can become friends, and friends can become lovers. Stories that show no two happy endings are the same. And at the core of every story is love.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2022Format: Audible AudiobookVerified PurchaseWhen this book, written by a new-to-me author, was released, my first thought was ‘I hope it comes to audio’. And my dream came true! To say I loved it would be an understatement.
Let me first start with the narrators. Jason Clarke is a favorite of mine and he nailed Max. The British was superb. That being said, I also adored his French and Scottish accents as well. He delivered a fantastic performance and I liked how seamlessly he worked with Emma Wilder. Their ability to make the voices sound similar was great. No matter who was narrating, Cress sounded like Cress and Max sounded like Max.
The story is also fantastic. I don’t read a lot of romantic suspense, but I have high expectations when I do, and this book hit all the right notes for me. And the villain? Man, I hated her. As I was supposed to. Another character in this book is the city of Chicago. I only knew a little bit, but I feel like I know a whole lot more now. The author breathed life into the city for me, and I can’t wait to visit.
The second book in the series is, I understand, in audio production right now – I can’t wait until I can grab a copy.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis romantic suspense novel was a fun read. Cress has a stalker. <spoiler>The stalker is identified fairly early as Tina, a bully from Cress's childhood. It's sad but believable that even though the perpetrator is obviously this off-kilter woman, without proof, nothing can be done, which only added to the tension.</spoiler>
Max comes on the scene at the perfect time, remembering Cress from twenty years in the past, when they were both at Oxford. His infatuation flares to life when he sees her again, and it was refreshing to read about a couple with more life experience, two people settled in their lives, yet each still missing something.
Both Cress and Max are surrounded by a core group of friends and they added so much in terms of understanding the characters. It's always fun to read about friends who have been friends forever.
The city of Chicago is almost an extra character--so many landmarks, restaurants, and establishments are mentioned. Since Cress is a historical romance writer, she is familiar with the history of so many buildings and institutions in Chicago. It was an unexpected bonus of the story.
And the food! There were Chicago classics in there, and so many iconic restaurants. Not only is it a tense story with a strong romance, but it could also serve as a travel guide to Chicago!
Fast, entertaining read with instalove (that really went the distance - 25 years), high stakes, and a really creepy antagonist.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseCress and Max are mature adults, each finding success in work and enjoying exciting leisure pursuits. On the surface of things, it may seem that they really don’t need each other.
However, there is the not so small matter of an undeniable intensity of feeling generated for each by their first meeting, a brief and clumsy encounter after which they did not see each other for twenty years. Still, each held onto memories of an unlikely and untested attraction. This story ignites as they meet again and pursue the validity of their initial impressions.
We are treated to a growing romance, an attraction accompanied by plenty of drama and suspense. A true page-turner, you cannot help but cheer for the lead characters as they join forces against what is first a mysterious challenge, and later a very pubic attack on Cress’s professional reputation and personal integrity.
Cress and Max’s romance is played out within some of the most iconic locations in Chicago, its lakefront, its splendid architecture, and its distinctive neighborhoods. The inclusion of celebrated restaurants and well known bookstores is sure to please any reader who knows the city or is eager to visit.
Cress’s love of both music and history is sure to engage readers with similar interests. An energetic and caring individual, but one capable of foibles and missteps, Cress is a character about whom readers will want to know even more. Fortunately, a second book is on the way!

3.0 out of 5 stars good book
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseUnfortunately although the story was good there was too much extra faf and miscellaneous stuff. Most of the book went right over my head. It missed out on the details that were pertinent to the actual couple.
