I'll start off by saying there is a prequel I didn't read it. I've heard it's better if you've read it but I can't say yet.... What I can say is Jax McKay has written a well paced, quick read with enjoyable characters and a storyline that leaves plenty of room for the series to grow.I really enjoy Austin and Violet's story. They are both kind of coming from the same place. New goals, new jobs, essentially new beginnings and they both have something to protect. Austin has his new business which happens to be his everything right now and Violet has her younger brother who she desperately wants to do right by.Funny thing though they have a past, just one night but it's one neither has left behind. One neither of them wants to forget. But the past has a way of causing trouble when you don't face it head on and these to are about to learn whether or not they can handle the pressure of this fight outside the ring.I have voluntarily left this review.

    This series is off to a great start with this book. I immediately was sucked in and didn’t put it down for several hours. Now that I finished I cannot wait for more from this author. Loved the characters and the story was full of what more could happen? Add this one to your list.

    This is the 2nd book in this series and is Austin and Violet’s story. These two had a 1-night stand a year ago, and when Austin opens a new MMA company with his best friends and twin brother, they hire him an assistant, and in walks Violet. Violet is fiercely independent and has had a tough life and she works hard to support herself and her brother, but she is being blackmailed by an ex-boyfriend for information about Austin’s company. This is a well written story which is filled with secrets, lies, witty and sarcastic banter, emotions, undeniable chemistry, conflict, humor, friendships, and love, which all leads to an entertaining and all-consuming addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

    This book was a One Night Only/One Who Got Away workplace Romance between a retired MMA fighter and the an administrative assistant who gave him the night he can't forget.

    Austin is trying to launch an MMA fighter promotional company in order to give fighters an alternative to his old management and for revenge against the CEO who makes screwing people over his way of life.

    Violet is a down on her luck bartender who has haunted his nights for over a year. When she suddenly appears as his administrative assistant he doesn't know whether to be aroused or annoyed by the effect she still has on him. As tension builds between the two it won't be long before they can't keep their hands to themselves.

    This was an insta-love/insta-lust workplace Romance where there was more going on than you would think. But the sub plot in the book became my favorite part of it. I did appreciate how the book takes you through the characters making this business worked and the characters were enjoyable.

    There is a bit of a twist to this book that I didn't see coming that eventually became my main motivation to finish this book. I, unfortunately, did not enjoy this book as much as I had hoped. While I did rate it 4 solid stars, my true rating is 3.5 because the romance felt a bit awkward in its pacing. I've read insta-love/insta-lust before and the pacing in this book was a bit odd for either situation which threw me off.

    Overall I enjoyed the book but do not think I'll be continuing the series.

    Austin is a former MMA fighter, he’s starting his own MMA company after retiring from fighting. Along with his brother and two best friends they’re trying to get the company started and get a bit of revenge on Nate, his former boss. Nate didn’t treat his fighters well and financially really screwed them.
    Violet has had a rough life, she was a party girl until she was left the sole adult to take care of her younger brother. She works hard to keep him college.
    Nate is her ex, he hasn’t left her alone in the years since they broke up. He makes her life very difficult.
    So, she gets hired at Austin’s company to spy for Nate(he’s blackmailing her.)
    She is shocked to see Austin on her first day of work, they had a one night stand awhile back.
    Their chemistry is great, and the attraction is definitely still strong.
    I like both characters. I like them tog, they balance each other.
    Things move kind of fast. Violet obviously is torn about what she’s supposed to do.
    Things come to a head and things get messy.
    I liked the way it played out and I was satisfied with the ending.
    I liked the storyline, the characters are sympathetic and hot together. The sexy times are steamy!
    The secondary characters are interesting, I look forward to their stories.
    There’s a short prequel to this book that I read, it is the authors debut book. I’m impressed with the writing and story, it’s a great debut.
    I look forward to more by the author.

    After fighting MMA for 10 years, Austin has decided to retire and start his own MMA fighting/promo company. His former boss, Nathan, was screwing him over and withholding his earnings so he decided to walk away and start his company where he wouldn't mess with the talent. When Austin and his three best friends are trying to get their new company up and running they have realized that they need to hire an assistant. The most qualified candidate? Austin's one-night stand after his last fight, Violet. Violet has just recently graduated from college and just wants to build a better life for her and her brother who is still in college. When Violet's ex-boyfriend blackmails her into applying for the position at Austin's company she has no choice to do what he says. Despite how awkward it starts out and it just gets worse when she starts to catch the feelings for Austin and his friends.

    This was a fun start to a new series. I can tell that the author has a good knowledge of the MMA world or did some good research and I really respect that. I loved the bond that Austin and his friends have. I am excited to see that further develop in the future books. The tension and chemistry between Violet and Austin was intense. I enjoyed their story and their journey. I loved that Violet was such a momma bear for her brother and she had such a strength about her. But I have to say it didn't add up with her ex. That felt off to me. Her personality didn't seem to mesh with the way she was portrayed to be with her ex (if that makes sense). I also felt that the ending was rushed; that there was a huge missed opportunity to show us how a lot of the drama went down. We were just told after the fact. But this was a short and fun read. I am excited to see what is in store for the rest of the IMC boys.
