Azaran (The Brotherhood of Ormarr Book 1) Kindle Edition
I was born a dragon rider. A member of the Brotherhood of Ormarr, son of Cadmar, and the eldest of four sons. I was raised to defend the innocent and protect the secret of the dragons, but when I was eighteen, my parents were brutally murdered and the training and care of my brothers fell to me. My entire adult life has been spent helping my brothers grow into the strong, brave dragon riders they were born to be. Now that the youngest of my brothers is close to adulthood, the last thing I need is someone else to worry about—someone else to be responsible for. If only the handsome doctor fate had chosen for my mate wasn’t so perfect for me.
Toby~
AlI I ever wanted was to help people, that’s why I became a doctor, but I quickly learned that modern medicine was more about the all-mighty dollar and less about saving lives. It wasn’t long before I was doubting my life choices. A vacation to the ocean was supposed to leave me refreshed and ready to get back to work, but instead, I found myself pulled into a world I never knew existed. A world where dragons are real, men fight like medieval warriors, and my soulmate has his very own bat cave. Azaran thinks the last thing he needs is a mate to worry about. Good thing I don’t need anyone to take care of me. My sexy dragon rider, on the other hand, needs someone to take care of him, and I think I’m just the man to do it.
Azaran is the first book in The Brotherhood of Ormarr series. While each book focuses on a different couple, the overall story arc continues in the next installment. For maximum enjoyment, we suggest reading in order. Azaran is a m/m romance, and is recommended for adults 18 years and older.

About the author

Jacki James has been saying she was going to write a book since she was sixteen and wrote fanfiction (before fanfiction had a name) about her favorite Rockstar. She is a believer in love of all kinds but MM romance is her favorite by far. She has a romantic heart and a dirty mind and likes to write stories that let both shine.
When she isn’t writing she is either creating beautiful pieces of glass art or reading. She is an animal lover and dreams of having a small hobby farm where she can raise goats, chickens and organic veggies. In the meantime, she lives in town with her two cats, awesome husband, and two college-aged kids.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2025This was a captivating book! It begins the story of the Ormarr brothers with the oldest finding his mate. The brothers are dragon riders, tasked with helping those who need it. Toby is a disillusioned doctor who goes on vacation and meets the brothers and finds his forever. There is a story line that will continue across the series, but this is a complete romance for the one couple. I can’t wait to read the rest!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2025I liked this story and am excited to read the rest of the series. I feel like i might have a guess at who the bad guy is but we'll see. I don't usually like angsty situations in books but I would have liked a little more resistance between them before they go together. It wasn't a long read so that's probably why it wasn't stretched out more but it would have been better. That's my only real negative. Other than that I really liked it and the characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2019This was an ok read for me... The MC'S were ok as well... I will say it was well written but there was no real excitement to me ... The romance was blah ... I guess I wanted more action...again something was missing for me... I'm going to the next book because it's written by a different author and they may give the series some spark .... As for who the enemy is I'm like whatever...let's hope the next author brings more...
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2019I love dragons and was so excited to start this series. This book was the best way to start out a series about dragon riders. Azaran and Toby come from two different worlds. Azaran has been his brothers' parental figure for the past ten years and it's been wearing on him. Toby is tired of how money grabbing the health care system is. He only wants to help people.
When they meet they both feel the connection, but they don't know what to do with it. When they do figure it out things get heated. Not only that but bonds are formed and they find the love they never knew they were missing.
I love how Toby just fits with not only Azaran but the rest of the Ormarr brothers as well. I can't wait to see what the other books bring to this family.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2019First off, I really loved this series and thought it was really well written and the characters were awesome. What I didn't like and found completely detracting was the sex scenes... characters use CONDOMS!! This is a FANTASY book, but not just that, a fantasy book with fated mates... do you think the universe would send you a fated mate who could give you a disease?!? Seriously, as soon as the characters began pulling out a condom, it totally pulled me out of the immersion... we read fantasy books to escape reality, not have reality forced back on us. I've read many, many M/M fantasy books and this was the absolute first where condoms appeared. Sadly, it appears in all of these books... it's so distracting that I just completely fast forward past the sex scenes entirely. I could see if the characters were having random hookups, but when you find your fated mate, the LAST THING you think about is having something between you and them, especially sexually... and condoms IMO create a complete separation between people.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2022How have I not reviewed this yet?! This series was one of the first MM books I have ever read. I love these books so much, and reread them often. So much to love about this series: the Brotherhood, the playfulness, the missions.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2022Well I think this book is middle ground but leans towards good. Definitely worth a read for anyone who likes fantasy, mm romance, fated mates. I wouldn’t say the story or characters showed the level of intense love and connection that you generally get from books in this genre…for example I wouldn’t say it’s like the ones that live in your soul because they are so amazing…However, I’ve read some with much much worse plot holes, development etc. It didn’t steal my heart, but it was a fun book that I read straight through. And I am excited to continue the series. So, good enough to take a chance on—but could be improved with more connection between characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2019This book is the first in the series. It has action suspense and some awesome naughty scenes. It's a gripping read that sucks you in in the first chapter, and keeps you engrossed in the book that you dont even realize you have read the epilogue.
Once you have finished reading the epilogue you keep searching more.
I have my suspicions as to who the bad dude is but cant wait to read the rest of the series to see if I'm right or wrong
Thank you for an amazing book. The 2nd book cannot get here fast enough

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
I was not sure what to expect when I started this book but as it had dragons in it I thought I’d give it a go. Well I was hooked from the start as the style of writing was beautifully done. Loved the premise of dragon riders and I soon got hooked by Azaran & Toby’s story & I absolutely fell in love with Sindri. Can’t wait to read book 2 this book is well worth reading. Xx

5.0 out of 5 stars Dragons!
This book introduced me to the new, captivating world of dragon riders, beautiful beasts and great, good men. I like the novelty of it and meeting the four brothers.
Azaran finds his fated mate but it's not a gift he's ready to fully accept. Adam is the sweetest man, though, and the pull is too strong to fight. While they start to know each other better dark forces are plotting and attacking, which ads intrigue and danger to the story.
This series promises an engrossing mystery alongside the romance and I can't wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dragon Rider and Mated
This is the first book in a four book series cantering around four brothers. The first book is Azaran’s story. Azaran is the oldest of the four brothers and has been training and raising them since the death of their parents. Azaran is also a dragon rider and member of the brotherhood. This story is about finding the mate you didn’t know you wanted (Tobias), and learning to lean on others for help.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good idea
The book is easy to read. The brothers are very likeable and the general idea with the dragons a good basis. The change of narrative (viewpoint) gives good insight into the hero's mind. Or heroes. There is a story arc in the background but emphasys is on the interaction. Sometimes, the story seems a bit rushed but still enjoyable.
