    This series is truly one epic but horrific story. So be prepared to fall fast for these characters and binge. Please read trigger warnings and take them seriously. Human trafficking is only one disturbing aspect.

    This is a really good book and I was anxious to get to the “good” part. My only complaint is that it was an entire book of build up. I found myself wanting to skip pages to see if it was ever going to get to the twist. The big build up … never came. Off to read book three so I can finally get some relief! I would have preferred for this to move at a faster pace. Three hundred pages across a three week span and no action.

    My gosh this book had me reeling! It so intense and kept me on the edge at all times.
    Loved: the characters and story!
    The only down part for me was Holden’s inner dialogue. Example:

    “If I hadn’t been with River, I’d have brought her to mine.”

    What type of “fiancé” has that type of thought about another women? And this happened more than once, and remembering his days of hooking up and sharing women. It was a little bit of a turn off.

    Not to discourage you because this story was so good,so juicy and suspenseful, I just didn’t know where it would take me next. It was outrageous, just kept me on my toes at all times not knowing about his past and who took River.

    I have no words. Once I started reading I could not stop, I finished at 4am and I was absolutely speechless. J.A. Owenby has once again pulled me in and taken me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions- not even kidding - Every single emotion, I felt it while reading this book. I loved this book just as much as the first one. I loved that we got to read this story in Holden’s POV, I feel like it gave us a better look into his life and his feelings. I also loved how much of a view we got into the friendships Holden has with Brynn, Jace & Chance. Just when I thought I had things figured out or they were getting to the bottom of something or close to a solution the story would do a complete flip and I was trying to read as fast as possible to find out what would happen next. If I could rate this book more than five stars I would. Already counting down the days for book three!!

    Where to begin,
    I never rooted a character so much as I did Holden and River. They have a lot of obstacles that they are facing. This book was so intense I started reading the day it came to my Kindle. Expect to have a few wtf moments and tears. J.A Owenby did an amazing job on this series so far. I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds. I have a few ideas on how I think it will play out. So excited for the last installment.
    I really hope chance and brynn get together. Honestly I just hope Brynn gets a hea no matter who she end up with.

    My favorite thing about this series is how much Holden loves & respects River, even more he loves and respects his friends with everything he has too. You get the drama, the tension, the aggression without a primary character needing to be an alpha@ss to the ones they supposedly love.

    Like book one you have a perfectly crafted unpredictable storyline, that is still easy to follow along. Now we get to really feel what Holden is feeling, we get a glimpse in to the friends that formed before River, and we get insight in to things we didn't know were missing from book one.

    The only thing that could make this better for me is if it was a audio book.

    How to describe a book that gutted me?

    I can’t say too much because the plot is that secretive that even some hints would destroy the experience one would find when reading it.

    Told from Holden’s POV as he looks for River. Secrets and lies are uncovered as the world he grew up in comes to light. And that light reveals one twisted and emotional rollercoaster world.

    Brace for that cliffhanger..
