Beautiful Dreamer (So This is Christmas Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 550 ratings

Garrett Coleman spent most of his adolescence crushing on Finn Sweeney—until that Ultimate Dream Guy image got obliterated during senior year. Garrett’s since gone out of his way to avoid the sexy ginger, instead throwing his energy behind his dance career while supporting his mother through her cancer diagnosis.

Finn Sweeney used to think of Garrett as just his kid brother’s best friend, but after an intense exchange at a high school party, things got a little…weird. Despite that, when their two families decide to get together for the holidays for the first time in years, Finn can’t say no. But he’s fully prepared for this to be awkward as hell.

When Finn and Garrett lay eyes on each other for the first time in their adult lives, all bets are off. Finn is completely captivated by Garrett and getting to know the man he’s become is now his top priority. Playing catch-up with Finn makes Garrett truly see him beyond the childhood fantasy he’s held onto all these years. Finn is real and vulnerable…and hot as hell.

Garrett and Finn can’t seem to keep their hands off each other, so they decide to bury the hatchet between them for the remainder of the visit.

After all, it’s only a holiday fling.

Until it becomes something more.

This was the beat Christmas book I read this year and it wasn’t even made this year. Wow! That was freaking amazing. Brothers best friend. Holy cow, just read the book because I will never do it justice in a review. This book was better than any Hallmark movie I’ve ever seen. If you are looking for a great Christmas story this is it. All of the Christmas magic I want. Yes! Thank you for this story. It’s exactly what I needed in 2020. The writing was perfect the story was incredible and the smexy was hawt! Yes!

A sweet and cute Christmas novella, Beautiful Dreamer is a contemporary romance between two men who have known each other their entire lives. Garrett is best friends with Finn's younger brother, and their families are extremely close...except for Garrett and Finn. But a family Christmas vacation is the perfect setting to bring these men together and kindle the attraction between them that's been brewing for a while. I enjoyed this book. It was sweet and full of the magical notes that make Christmas books so wonderful. The audiobook was narrated by Michael Dean who does a fabulous job with the narration. All in all, this is a great book for the holiday season.

Garrett has had a crush on his best friends older brother Finn since he was young but after an embarrassing incident he's been avoiding family gatherings where there would a chance of running into Finn.
But this Christmas is different, Garretts mom has beaten cancer and now both families are celebrating Christmas together.
Finn hasn't seen Garrett in 6 years and he isn't prepared to see Finn as the adult man with a ballet dancers body instead of his little brothers best friend that use to follow him around.

It's sweet, it's hot and it's exactly the kind of Christmas romance I love to read about.

    4.5*

Such a wonderfully sweet and touching little holiday story! The best friend’s brother trope is one of my favorites, in both m/f and m/m, and this one was just perfect.
Six years have passed since Garrett and Finn last saw each other, and as their families gather to celebrate Christmas old feelings bubble to the surface and it’s time these two finally confront their true feelings for each other.
I enjoyed this story so much, everything about it just gave me the warm fuzzies! Garrett and Finn and their burgeoning relationship were the stars of the show, but the families, the setting, the season- it all made for a winning combination.

I’m so jealous of the Coleman and Sweeney families right now, I wish my extended family all still got together for the holidays!

I enjoyed this book while I was reading it, but once I finished the last page I found I didn’t have much to say about it- the characters are fine, the story is fine, it all was totally fine. Enjoyable, but didn’t stay with me.

I adored this book. It was so sweet. This was a story about a boy, Garrett, who crushed on his best friend's older brother, Finn, from as far back as he could remember. Finn saw him as nothing more than a kid but, years later, their families get together for Christmas. As Finn lays his eyes on Garrett for the first time, he sees the man he has become and is attracted to him. This story is a slow buildup as the they get to know each other again, relive past memories and realize the feelings they both have for each other. Finn is sweet on Garett and it is evidenced in the many things he says and does. I loved this story so much. It's perfect with a side of hot cocoa.

Absolutely loved this story. Loved the characters and how they were all about family. The ending, don't want to give anything away, had me year up a bit. Great job writing it.

I have enjoyed the last few Christina Lee books I scooped up and was thrilled to get this one. Something special to put me in the holiday spirit.

Garrett has always crushed on his best friend’s older brother. Classic trope because it’s universal. I had a similar problem when I was young. Man, I thought my best friend’s older brother was so cute. It didn’t go anywhere – as it shouldn’t – but I cling to that memory of a simpler time. When Finn rescues Garrett, though, Garrett isn’t grateful. And then there was the kiss.

Years pass and the men have moved on. Garrett dances and has been dealing with his mom’s cancer diagnosis. Finn has a great job a few hours away. They’ve been living parallel lives. Until the Christmas their families decide to reunite and enjoy a joint celebration. Those parallel lines they’ve been following bend and collide. Attraction simmers just below the surface and then men have to decide if they’re going to continue to tiptoe around each other or whether they’re going to finally act on that attraction. Oh, and Garrett’s brought a ‘friend’. Uh, awkward.

I knew I was going to get a happy ending and I loved the grand gesture. I especially loved that Finn understood Garrett’s drive to dance. I loved that both families supported him unconditionally. Anyway, really enjoyed the book. And, of course, Michael Dean’s narration was spot-on and perfect. I look forward to more collaborations between the two of them.

5 stars for both story and narration.

This was so sweet and so sexy. A great best friends brother, forbidden (in their minds) love, no angst, holiday romance. This is just what I needed right now to get ready for the holidays. I loved this so much and listened to it in one listen. There was no way I could stop. All the characters are fantastic. Not just the 2 MCs. Even though it was fairly short it still was a nice gradual build to the romance. Even before they get together the sparks were instant and the tension and chemistry between them was sizzling. My only complaint is I didn't want it to end.

Michael Dean did a fantastic performance as always. He brought the story to life expressing all the emotions wonderfully. He did all the different characters voices and they were all great.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Cute and Tropey Novella
Reviewed in Australia on February 14, 2020
This is a cute story. It is quite tropey though, leaning on multiple tropes throughout the story, crushing on the best friends brother, found family, enemies to lovers. But they are all kinda twisted up a bit, they aren't the straight versions. I really appreciate seeing a male dancer in fiction, especially a male ballerina. They are important to dance and I just like seeing good representation.

The leading men Finn and Garrett are sweet. The families are gorgeous and just made me want to be there, so much love and happiness. A vow renewal as a Christmas surprise to a cancer survivor is super cute and endearing. Blair, Blair was something else. He's almost the ideal best friend Enabling, teasing and forcing Finn to face up to his feelings. Better yet Blair has his own book set book set twelve months later, Beautiful Temptation.

My primary complaint is in the style. There is some disconnect between the prologue and the rest of the story, it isn't used well enough. I think it may almost harm the story more than it adds. Additionally there are elements used early on that aren't followed through with. But it is a novella. Short and fun and it is just good holiday fun.
