    I actually paid full price for this book. Blake Pierce has a terrible editor but his stories are good enough to overlook that. MacKenzie White is a flawed character but I still want to know what happens next in her world so I bought book 4, too. Yes, I figured out where Mr. Pierce was going with the story and how it would end but I still kept reading because I enjoyed reading the story and I really like the way he writes his dialogue. He makes his characters feel real. I still get annoyed with MacKenzie when she does predictably stupid stuff and wins by the seat of her pants but here I am going on to read the next one.

    Best in the series so far and my wife says Before He Takes is even better. The police procedural side of the stories leave a lot to be desired but the surrounding character profiles, dramatics and tragedies are well done and keep you turning pages.

    Even though some continue to think Blake is a man I'm thinking female writer. Nevertheless she has developed a wonderful ability to keep me suspended in these crime dramas. FBI training brings new friends and supportive people and more opportunities to find love even in the amalgam of found body parts strewn hither and yon. These are intriguing page turners and I have never completed reading a book so quickly. Can't put it down from chapter to chapter. I'm taking a break from the series to catch my breath reading Ken Follett's new book. Once I've finished (it will take time since he writes 1000 pages) I will return for more excitement from Ms. Blake.

    This fast-paced novel was an exciting third book in this series. The lead character shows so much bravery and even when her own past haunts resurface she keeps her head in the game so she can solve a strange setbof serial killings.
    There are some printing errors were a word is missing or erroneously used but easily read over without too much interruption to the plot. So overall it did not effect my rating.

    I enjoyed reading this mystery. I did figure out some of the ending before it occurred. Maybe I have become smarter after reading so many Blake Pierce's murder mysteries. With three different mystery series, you would assume the lead characters would overlap, but they don't. The main character of each are assertive and have distinct personalities along with a great supporting cast.

    Although the ending was to be expected, it was still difficult to read the words.
