Pitch to Palace (Modern Royals Series Book 4) Kindle Edition
She was a princess who found solace and happiness in books, determined to stay hidden from the world forever. But will her crush—a sexy Canadian footballer with a playboy past—be the one to lure her out of her shell and into his arms instead?
Comfort for Isabella York is found buried in the pages of books. Bookended between two beautiful sisters, she is a different kind of princess, quiet and studious. Judged harshly on social media and in the tabloids, which compare her to her thin, outgoing sisters, a shy Bella has no desire to become a working royal for the House of Chadwick upon graduating from university, preferring to work in the family’s dusty archives instead.
But hiding from the limelight may not be an option where Camden Tremblay is concerned. Sinfully gorgeous and with a wild past, Camden was the crush Bella longed for from the day she met him—and she knew he would never look her way.
Until he did.
Camden re-enters her life and they both see there is more to each other than meets the eye. He turns Bella’s life upside down like a snow globe, filling her life with a magic she has never known. But with each of them fighting their own insecurities, can this high-profile romance survive the intrusive eyes of the press—and the greatest crisis to face the monarchy to date?
If you love British royals, a sexy hero, a heroine who finds herself and a happily ever after, then you will love this heartwarming and romantic story.

Editorial Reviews
Review
★★★★★ "I can't imagine loving any book more than this one. Bella was the most real character I've read in a long time. Her struggles were so identifiable, and it was beautiful seeing her go on a journey of love both with herself and Camden. This one will stick with me for a long time, and I can't recommend it enough!" - Goodreads Review
★★★★★ "Their love story jumps off the pages, so definitely prepare to lose some sleep so you can see what happens next, I couldn't put the book down and finished in 1.5 days!" - BookBub Reviews
★★★★★ "Bella was such a refreshing character, and I so wish there was more to her and Camden's story because I never wanted it to end!" - Goodreads Review
★★★★★ "This was such a wonderful story. I could really feel Bella's hurt and pain with the way the author wrote her character with so much emotion. The friendships between the squad, the cousins and their significant others, is a highlight of this series as well." - WordsWisdomWhitney

Bella York did just that. Yes, Bella York, as in *the* Princess Isabella of York. You know, the one with the two gorgeous sisters who are also princesses and the handsome cousins who have a direct line to the throne.
Bella is the female main character in Aven Ellis' newest book, "Pitch to Palace" -- book four in the Modern Royals series. She is a minor character seen in the first three books, with "Royal Icing", the book before "Pitch to Palace", setting up her story. It's also where the reader is introduced to Bella's future love interest, Camden Tremblay, a Canadian footballer playing on a UK team and someone who has a known reputation as a partier. In "Royal Icing", we see Bella and Camden meet and connect over a shared love of medieval history and old "Monty Python" shows. We also see how Camden was distracted by a shiny object, Bella's younger sister Victoria. Upon this interaction, Bella is embarrassed and wants to forget their meeting happened.
As "Pitch to Palace" opens with a royal wedding, Bella is faced with seeing Camden for the first time since their failed meeting. She is determined to stay away from him as she knows she is a modern wallflower who is dull in comparison to her sisters and the glamorous women Camden is known to have dated (a loose term as Camden is not serious about anything). However, Camden is just as determined to meet with Bella and apologize. His date with Victoria didn't go well and any woman after that also paled in comparison to Bella and the time spent with her.
It's at this instance where Bella summons the gumption to tell Camden how his actions wounded her and that she needs to be seen as someone who is valued on her own rights and not as a cast-off. Surprised and caught off guard, Camden quickly recovers and reiterates his regret for his poor behavior and how it was a catalyst for change in him.
The story progresses from there as a shocking event happens and Camden protects Bella from the initial fallout, which allows her time to sort out her feelings and any follow up actions she must do. The time they spend together allows Bella to see her value and what role she can fulfill in the "family business" and it allows Camden to see his own worth, both on and off the pitch.
In "Pitch to Palace", Ellis continues to showcase what she is known for: Creating a fictional world within reality and making it seamlessly transition between what is fact and what is not. Her books are always well researched and those facts are sprinkled throughout the stories to enhance the reader's experience. Ellis' characters are well-rounded and encounter issues that are known to happen in real life, including the weight shaming and anxiety that Bella contends with as a result. Ellis also sets up future stories by introducing new characters and gives the reader satisfactory glimpses of previous characters from this series (and a welcome cameo from a non-royal series) without making the book burdensome -- a true talent.
To read "Pitch to Palace", clear your schedule, have your drink and snack of choice ready and curl up under a warm blanket -- you won't want any distractions to keep you from reading the book in one sitting.
I would have liked to see another “big beauty” come alongside her because there are more of “us” than there are skinny people.
The romance happened too quickly and dealing with Cam’s wounds deserved more page time. Still, I loved hanging out with the squad again.
Camden Tremblay is a footballer in the United Kingdom. Until recently, he has been known for partying and being a womanizer.
Camden is friends with Bella’s cousin Christian. Both Camden and Bella are at the wedding festivities of Christian to Clementine.
Camden asks Bella for a chance to get to know her and for her to get to know him. Both of them want people to see that they are more than their outer appearance.
Will Bella let Camden get to know her? Will she be able to step up after graduation and be a working Royal? Will Camden stick by Bella when things get rough?
I loved the story and enjoyed reading about all the characters that I met in the previous books of the series.
Pacing: 5. The story was engaging and kept me interested.
Character development: 5
Relationship development: 5. Great extensive dialogue scenes where the characters are coming to know each other.
HFN or HEA? Yes.
Steam level: between a 3-4
3 (very passionate making and/or under clothing action; and/or explicit discussion/thoughts; and/or behind close doors sexual acts)
4 (minimally or moderately described on screen sexual acts)
Cursing: very minimal
Min. age recommended: 18+
1. Are the character's developed in a way that makes me care about them? Yes. Lots of depth.
2. Did the dialogue flow or was it choppy/unnatural? -
- natural flow
3. Was the writing level above average, average, awkward/stilted, or amateur?
- above average
4. Were the events believable? Were you able to suspend disbelief?
- Yes.
5. Did any of the characters do anything that made you cringe in a "real people are not this dumb" way? No.
6. Is there anything you wish would have been different (without spoiling the story)? Not really. The theme/dialogue of them knowing each others’ heart was used a bit too much and became pretty repetitive but not to the point of not enjoying the novel.

I also loved the sneak peeks at potential future couples, and I can't wait to read their stories!

I hope that there is more to come from this series!
