Best Laid Plans: A Brother's Best Friend Standalone Romance (The Bay Ridge Series) Kindle Edition
The summer before my senior year of high school I had only one goal: to make Alden Warner see me as more than his best friend’s annoying little sister.
Finally, my wish came true and he noticed me. In a big way. Too bad that the next morning he had no memory of our night together, leaving me heartbroken, and as I later discovered…pregnant.
For the last four years, I’ve been rocking the single mom thing, making sure my daughter comes first. In fact, everything is going fine—until Alden storms back into my life, as my new boss.
His reappearance wasn’t something I planned for. Add my nosy, meddlesome three-year-old and an overprotective brother, and I’m obviously in way over my head.
My only hope now is that I can sway Alden to see things my way…but you know what they say about the best laid plans…

- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2018LK Farlow's Best Laid Plans is her best work yet! I have read each book in her catalog and I have marveled at the growth of her storytelling over the last year. Best Laid Plans embodies the sweet, sizzle and fun that we expect from a book written by LK Farlow. But it employs something new as well, an increase in the angst from her other titles. The fact that LK Farlow upped that emotion made this romance more realistic—I feel like if a woman was kept a secret of the magnitude that Natalie had, they would undoubtedly find themselves in a very similar situation.
Best Laid Plans is a brother’s best friend, second chance romance. It’s written in dual perspectives. The hero, Alden is a few years older than the heroine, Natalie and has been living abroad for several years. When he returns to his hometown, his attraction to his best friends’ little sister is stronger than ever. That is until he finds out she’s kept a monumental secret from him and her whole family. This slow burn romance is sweet and sexy. Alden is swoon-worthy and Natalie’s daughter, Tatum, reminded me so much of my own three-year-old and had me cracking up. I loved that LK Farlow upped the angst factor in Best Laid Plans from some of the previous stories she’s told. I think the storyline would have suffered if she hadn’t pushed her boundaries. Best Laid Plans is an easy read. You can sit down, jump in and read it in one sitting and you’ll come away from this romance believing in second chances!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2018We all know what they say about Best Laid Plans...
He was the guy she was crushing on forever. However, he was also her brother's best friend. Nothing was ever supposed to happen...until it did. Too bad he doesn't even remember.
Four years have passed and Natalie is the single mom of an adorable 3 year old girl. Tatum is all love, light and sass! You cannot help but fall in love with this kid. Natalie does online classes at night to get her degree while working at a cafe by day. And she has a new boss...
Nate is back in town after traveling and studying in Europe to become a chef. He's determined to take back the cafe his family once owned and make it the success it was meant to be. He soon finds out that the sister of his high school best friend is now his employee.
Natalie is keeping a big secret and she knows that it's finally time to come clean.
The chemistry between Alden and Natalie was just irresistible! They were super hot and totally sweet and being witness to Alden falling in love with his little girl will just melt you. It was a great read with lots of heat and sweet!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2022I Loved the story! I got into it real good at first! A couple time lines did not match up and I almost quit reading about half way through! The inner dialogues were annoying! Everyone know that if your going for a drive you have to start the car! Dictating step by step got to me and I skipped a lot of it and the stuttering? I am sorry that’s just an annoying way to portray your scared and or worried! And Tatem was adorable but some of the conversations with her sounded like an adult trying to sound like they are 3! I am how ever very happy that there was minimal sex traffics and scenes! All in all for someone that does not mind the things I listed that bugged me it’s a good book! I just like to be able picture what’s going on and what I got with the vision I seen was not good so I could not really get into this book! Sorry
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2018Y’all, being from “L.A. – Lower Alabama” where this story takes place and where this author lives gives me a unique insight into this story. Some of the places, food and people are so relatable to me.
L.K. Farlow’s Best Laid Plans is a heartwarming, sweet and sexy read. Natalie is just a girl with a huge crush on her brother’s best friend. So much so that she lies to those she loves to protect him. Well, that was what she thought was best. Turns out it probably wasn’t the best idea.
Alden had taken notice of his best friend’s little sister but didn’t act on it because, well, it’s his best friend’s little sister. When he returns to town and finds out about the lie Natalie has told he reacts with all the emotions that we expect. Once those play out, he steps up to be the man to take care of his girls.
I really enjoyed Natalie and Alden’s story but I loved Tatum and, um, the food! With great detail to each dish that was enjoyed by the characters, I was like “Damn, there better be some recipes!” But NO! Guess that is what Google is for.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2018Y’all already know, I love me some Kate Farlow. I’ve been a fan since I discovered Coming Up Roses... and I knew then that she would be going places. I’m so excited that I can be on sidelines to watch her grow and succeed while cheering her on.
Best Laid Plans was another winner for me. It’s not a home run but it’s definitely a triple.
You get a little bit of everything with this book.
You like the brother’s best friend trope?
It’s got it!
Like single parents?
Done!
Secret baby?
Boom, baby!
Office romance?
Yes, sir!
See? What did I tell you? It’s got it all!
You’re probably thinking “Allyson, if it’s so great, why isn’t it a home run?!”
Well, we all like something different... FOR ME, I saw the story going a certain way and there was just something that I believed was a key aspect of the story that I would’ve liked to see more of throughout the book.
Even though that didn’t pan out for me, it didn’t take away from the writing and overall storytelling.
I thought Best Laid Plans was a really good read. It kept me interested throughout. I didn’t want to put it down for a second!
Kate just has a way with storytelling and knows how to keep readers interested and on the edge of their seat to find out what’s happening next.
This is definitely a book that I will read again and I cannot wait for more from her!
(I also can’t wait to grab that paperback... that cover deserves ALL the hearts eyes!! 😍😍😍😍)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and oh so romantic!!!!
I love brother’s best friend romances. There is just something about this trope that I can’t get enough of. I can honestly say this is one of my favourite reads. Alden and Natalie are pure perfection and I loved watching them fall in love. I loved the slow burn and gradual buildup to their romance, I loved the dual POV (it really allowed the reader to get a better read on how both characters were feeling) and Tatum absolutely stole my heart. I easily read this book in one night. It is sweet, romantic and oh so swoon-worthy. Don’t miss out on this incredible journey to happily ever after.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, WOW, WOW!
First time I read LK Farlow and definetly not the last one.
When I read the blub, it caught my attention immediately. Then, I read some comments that it's too focused on the child, but anyway I decided to read it, and I was truly surprised with this story. It's become one of my favorites. It's funny, romantic and with drama.
I liked that the author focused on the child, too, because I've read similar plots, but they are focused only on the couple.
What I enjoyed too, it's that, the author represented a 'normal' child, being loud, with tantrums and everything, and not the perfect child that I've usually read.
I couldn't put it out, till I finished it! I assure you, you're going to enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible
This story is just incredible. Really sweet and cute and romantic and funny. I really like reading books with children because they are cute but this one is even cuter. Loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute read
Really cute read with a nice plot and likeable characters. It did feel at times that the story was very rushed and I would have liked some more grovel from both MC and FC but all in all an enjoyable book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A bloody great read
Author LK Farlow has given us another great read. I have read all of LK Farlow's books, and her writing just gets better and better.
This time around the story concentrates on Natalie and Alden... Alden being the best friend of Natalie's older brother. The one night of drunken Whoopsie, ends up with an added bonus.
The relationship/chemistry between the two main characters is perfect.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
Highly recommend you have a read
