- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2020Ok. So I’m officially ticked. I hate cliffhangers and after this cliffhanger, I am DEFINITELY not a happy camper. Oh. My. Gah. So not cool. Even though, I still love this book and series, but not happy with that ending.
Valis and Tav have less than two weeks til they are joined as husbands. But Ayrn has promised retribution for Valis not returning his love and choosing Tav over him. These next two weeks will become some of the worst ever. Hallucinations between Tav and Valis are making them see things that aren’t true or there. And it’s causing a huge rift between them. To the point, Tav has broken things off with Valis for good. Valis can’t scru, which should be easy for him. Even Thryan can’t. Something is blocking them and the visions Valis is having are nothing but destruction and devastation. When he has it again during training and while trying to find Tav, he knows he has to get to the prison. They are using his mark to feed their power to destroy everyone. Valis puts a stop to it finally but it still comes at a loss. As he rests to try to find Tav again and what is going on, what he finds, he knew in his heart it would be true but he didn’t want to believe it. Now he has to save Tav or it will be the last time he will see him alive.
Of all the stuff that Valis has been through, the only thing that comes close is torture he endured under his father. These past two weeks have been absolute heck on Earth. He and Tav can’t stop fighting because Tav has been infected by the Qos. But how? That’s what he’s trying to figure out while trying to figure out who’s trying to harm them. And my heart just aches for him because it’s not stopping and Tav is believing what is going on instead of believing Valis. It takes Tav going head to head with the enemy to see who is behind it all and realize Valis was really right. It has been a complete test of strength and patience, all while getting his heart broke for Valis. All while trying to keep teaching what he’s supposed to teach. It’s been awful. And the ultimate betrayal behind it all. But it’s the ending of this book that has me so upset. Because of course, you’re left hanging, but it’s also because of who it involves. So, I definitely can’t wait to get to the next book.
It’s a great series. It really is. But no more cliffhangers please lol.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2020This is the third and final book of the Purity and Control trilogy, or the sixth book in The God Jars saga. As with the others, the storyline flows seamlessly from Mentor, the previous book.
Something is wrong at the monastery, and Valis and Tav are feeling the effects. Strange things are happening, but not really happening at all. The pressure is on, as both Seza and Zhasina's, and Valis and Tavros's, joining nights are approaching quickly.
Valis is still working with the Reliquary Aesriphos, and Thyran has added a new skill to Valis's list of lessons to teach. Visions plague Valis, both in his sleep and waking world. There is also something interfering with his and Thyran's powers, which only adds to the stress Valis is feeling.
As life with Tavros becomes more volatile, Valis remains as outwardly calm and collected as possible. Aryn has been acting strange and is not himself, and his jealousy is coming to the fore.
The captured Qos followers locked in the cells below cause a problem that potentially could have been avoided, but Valis learns from the exchange with the help of his dad, Roba. Eventually, madness drives one of Valis's visions to become reality, and through possible devastation, the line between desperation and madness is clear.
Eventually, Valis and Tav are brought together as husbands and become Aesriphos Valiants in true form. Valis is finally able to experience his first festival, and enjoys the games and exciting new sights. However, as Valis and Tavros start off for a ride, an ominous sight greats them; one that has the potential to break Valis's heart into pieces.
Happy reading!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2018I just really love this series, especially the characters. What I didn't like was the fact that it took them forever to notice who was behind all the hallucinations and the fact that they got married right after that surprised me. Like I get that Tavros wasn't totally at fault for what he said but he said some stuff that felt pretty real. I just think that they should have talked more instead of just getting married right after.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2019While I loved this book, and the suspense and mystery, I also found it frustrating because of Tavros’ behavior. His lack of faith in Valis and weakness in surrendering to his fear instead of believing in love made me angry. I honestly didn’t feel like he deserved Valis’ love. I continue to enjoy Valis and the growth he exhibits every step of the way; Tavros seems to be stuck in his ways and his doubts. This is a book that really could have benefited from a dual POV. Maybe if I could have seen Tavros’ thoughts and what he was feeling, I would have had more empathy for his behavior. I hope Aryn recovers from his love obsession with Valis. Despite his weaknesses, Aryn is still one of my favorite characters. He was the first to befriend Valis, and at least he is true to his love. I look forward to the next book in the series.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2020AHHHH! This book tested both the characters and my sanity at every turn. Valis and Tavros have to fight like they never have before in order to be together. I was on the edge of my seat as they cut each other while also trying to figure out what was trying to destroy them. My poor heart went through the wringer and I'm almost scared to read the next book because I can't go through that again.
The end is near and this series is keeping its readers enchanted.
