Puck Block : A Brother's Best Friend Hockey Romance (Bexley U) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 6,045 ratings

A deliciously sexy, enemies-to-lovers, brother’s-best-friend, hockey romance by Amazon Top 50 and USA Today bestselling author, S.J. Sylvis

Ford Collins is my brother’s best friend and Bexley U’s favorite defender on the ice. Unfortunately, he feels the need to block much more than the puck.

Namely, ME and any chance I have with a guy.

Encouraged by my older brother, Ford has ruined every single date I’ve ever had. With his hot smirk and sly maneuvers, he has made it his mission to make me the most unattainable female college student in the world—that is, until I have a brush with death, and I beg him to help me.

After all, he owes me. And I’ve come to collect.

Determined to rid himself of the guilt, Ford promises to help me score a boyfriend—
or two—and swears he won’t interfere.

But the more time I spend learning from one of Bexley U’s most desirable playboys, the more I start to question the real reason why he’s been sabotaging my dates over the years.

With the lingering touches, heated stares, and sizzling chemistry between us, we both know we’re playing with fire. What happens when our game of “practice” and Ford’s spicy lessons become something real that we not only need to hide from my older brother, but from each other?

Puck Block is book #3 in the Bexley U series and CAN be read as a standalone in this interconnected series.

A forbidden, brother’s best friend romance is the way to my heart!!
5 out of 5 stars
A forbidden, brother’s best friend romance is the way to my heart!!
The Bexley U series will forever be one of my favorite series I'e ever read. A forbidden, brother’s best friend romance is the way to my heart & this book was everything and more. If you love: - Hockey Romance (she's a dancer) - Brother’s Best Friend - Forbidden Romance - Diabetes Rep - He Falls First - Slow Burn - College Romance - Banter & Angst Tatum & Ford stole my heart & I had to do a reread because I couldn't stop thinking about these two. Recently diagnosed with Diabetes, Taytum is struggling to adjust to the changes her diagnosis is requiring and has found herself in the hospital, far too often. Growing up with a very overbearing & overprotective older brother (Emory) and his best friend (Ford...who was basically family), she's always been overly sheltered. Even more so now that she's attending the same college and after her diagnosis, the two continue to block her from any guy who ever sets his sights on her. Wanting to take control and finally start experiencing college life, Taytum guilts Ford into "helping" her... hello lessons and secret forbidden romance. I loved Taytum. She's such a feisty and fun FMC, so strong while trying to take control of her own life. Hardheaded and determined to find her way while also helping relieve some of her families stress... though sometimes it was to her own detriment. And Ford was the total package... the first hospital visit when he knew why she needed the insulin pump and everything about her diagnosis... I fell & knew I was completely GONE for this man!! He loves Tatum fiercely and his past definitely shaped him to be the provider he's become. Tatum, ma'am... let that man provide! This was the best kind of slow burn romance. The two are so drawn to one another and their chemistry is insane, but they're forced to ignore or fight their attraction for many reasons. The banter was amazing, angst was perfectly written and the tension was on fire!! & hello emotion - when Ford professed his love to her brother... cue the happy tears! Once again, S.J. Sylvis let me speechless and will forever be a favorite author of mine! I'm so ready for her upcoming Pro-Hockey series and can't wait for what's to come.

4⭐️ 2.5🌶️ This is the 3rd and final book in the Bexley U college hockey 🥅 series.

Ford is the cocky yet life of the party/class clown hockey player that secretly loves Taytum, his best friend’s sister. Taytum is tired of Ford and her brother, Emory, scaring away all of her potential boyfriends, so she asks Ford to help her date (even though he can’t stand the idea of her being w/someone else). Ford promised Emory he’d look out for her at parties, so he thinks by being able to keep an eye on her and these ‘dates’, he will remain detached. In addition, Ford promised Emory and her parents (who are like parents to Ford) to watch out for Taytum’s diabetes issues. Ford is down bad for her - he takes such good care of her - checks her insulin, calms her down during injections, and the ending? He is swoony ❤️

‘The thought of her falling in love and him loving her back? That'll kill me.’

‘Now I'm going to have to set my dorm room on fire, get thrown out of Bexley U, and never make it to the pros. But at least I won't have to stand here and die a slow death as some guy touches what's mine.’

"Look at these guys and tell me who's good enough for me.”
    “No."
    "Why not?"
“Because none of them are good enough for you. Me,
I'm the only one who's good enough for you. But I guess I'll try to find a close second."

‘TAYTUM IS MINE. She doesn't know it, and I'm not sure when I'm going to tell her, but this girl is mine.’

I LOVE her so much it terrifies me.

    "Tell me you're mine again.”
“I'm yours, Ford. I think I've always been yours."

“You heard me right. I love you, and I always have, but you don't have to say it back. I already know you love me too."
"I've never loved anyone the way I love you.”

    "Thank you."
    "For what?"
I stare into her blue eyes that I fell for when I was too young to even know what love was.
"For letting me take care of you."

I really really enjoyed this series by SJ Sylvis! My favorite thing is to read series so that I can keep in touch with the other characters from the previous books, and this book like the other did not disappoint me. I have to say that of all three couples Ford and Taytum or my favorite. I loved Ford from the first appearance in Weak Side because of his playful nature, that continued in Ice Bet. But to see him get his own story, was the real treat.

From the first story, I just knew that he was in love with Tay, and I couldn’t wait for their story to develop. I didn’t know, however, that they were faced the challenges that were presented to them, but I love the character development for Ford. This is a great story that demonstrated how someone could love someone for years and take care of them from a distance. Please read this series!

I didn't like how Emory treats his sister in the first 2 books and now the author has taken it to another level. Being diabetic is hard and since everyone's bodies are unique a course of treatment can take quite awhile. The way Emory treats his sister like a incompetent moron is really over the top and to engage his friend in his ruthless protectiveness, which Ford willingly does, and continue their bullying campaign in college after her life altering medical diagnosis makes it down right cruel. If they know so much more than Taytum they should know stress is a trigger for diabetics. So they're putting her health at risk every single time they berate her and remind her how incompetent she is. Which happens with alarmingly frequency. Why would she even speak to either of them? I liked Ford, and I was rooting for him and Taytum, who I believe would be a good couple but this was disappointing and fell way short of the hero saving the damsel in distress angle I think the author was going for. The storyline has major potential. Sure, best friends sister is a common trope but the new diagnosis of diabetes is fresh. Fraudulently logging into someone's private medical data should be illegal and yet our "Hero" Ford does this to Taytum. In one scene he even shares it with her brother and they're spying on her together right in front of her becay she can't be trusted? How could she fall in love with him? A life altering medical diagnosis is a major mind trip age no one was looking out for Taytum's state of mind not even her parents. I'm disappointed by what the author did to Taytum's spark, I'm irritated she messed up Ford's upbeat personality and I was looking forward to a book about the mysterious Emory but not now. He's a jerk!

    Ford and Taytum…

    These two 🥺🥺🥺

Ford comes very close to being my perfect of the three Bexley U boys cause that man is the sweetest, thoughtful, man 😭😭

This brother’s best friend, forbidden romance had an added element because of Taytum’s medical issues. It showed so much care and love for her from Ford it was just freaking so sweet and gave me all the warm and fuzzies.

Loved this story and I’m sad that the Bexley U stories have come to a close but I’m so glad I found them!

P.S. I bawled like a baby towards the end but in the best kind of way 😭🥺😭🥺😭

Brother's bestfriend is my fav trope!!! And if it is a sports romance omg!!!

And to top it all up... It's Sammi's book 😍😍😍

Ford, the MMC and Emory are best friends ever since they were little and with them a little girl wanted to tag along and that's our FMC Taytum....

One incident changes her life and everyone becomes overprotective of her... Not letting guys go out with her, ruining her dates etc.. Although it was over protectiveness from her brother's side... Ford's was that plus his love that he tried to hide.

The way their story progresses and them falling totally for each other was a treat to read
I loved every second of this book 😍😍

    “You know the drill, Heartbreaker.”

S.J’s angst just hits differently and I absolutely love that. This story is special in so many ways but also had so many gut wrenching moments that had me fully invested.

“ I can’t willingly watch her fall in love with someone who isn’t me.”

Taytum is having a hard time accepting her diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes. She struggles a lot during this read and I felt for her and anyone in this situation. She wants a bit of normalcy so she reaches out to the last person she would want to discuss this with. Her brother’s best friend, Ford.

    “Your possessiveness is showing again.”
“It only comes out to play when you’re involved.”

Ford has always taken the protector role when it comes to Taytum, especially in the dating department. So when she comes to him for help with her dating life, the guilt causes him to agree. Side note: I loved how much research he put into her diagnosis and how invested he was in her health.

“How could there be anyone else when she exists?”

I felt for them so much because you understand Fords hesitation in crossing lines with her and risking the only family he has known. I honestly loved how these two got their HEA even if I was crying all the way up to it.

The spice was banging, the banter was so good and I loved all the glimpses that we got of the other characters. I was so excited to get more of Taytum’s friendship with Claire.

This series has me in a serious chokehold.
