From the Inside Flap

Introduction: Orgasm Is Just the Beginning
As Barbara Carrellas writes, there are so many types of orgasms, more than any single book could cover, but within these pages, you will not only find numerous types of orgasms, as well as the varied characters who experience them, you will also discover different motivations for getting off. Some have a tried and true method, some are willing to take a chance on a new sexual practice--or partner. Some of these characters orgasm frequently; some are aching for the chance to share their body with another person. Some let their orgasms be controlled by a lover; some actively take control of their climaxes.
"You amaze me," the nameless protagonist of B.D. Swain's opening story "The Beginning" proclaims. You--readers, authors, orgasmers--amaze me with your boundless sexual hunger and creativity. I've been writing and editing erotica for over a decade, but part of why it never gets old is because of the richness, diversity and nuance I find in the stories that come (no pun intended) my way. They fuel my own imagination and show me that I can always learn more about orgasm, about desire, about sex.
The format of 1,200 words or less means these are extremely short stories, but I hope you'll find, like I did, that what they lack in length they make up for in hotness. As with my previous short-short anthology
Gotta Have It: 69 Stories of Sudden Sex, all the pieces you hold in your hand, even the shortest ones ("The Park," by Elise Hepner, clocks in at 249 words; "Her Lover Is a Flame," by Cecilia Tan, at 308) offer a snapshot of eroticism that draws you completely into its folds. You might consider each one a teaser, an appetizer, the beginning of a fantasy world you can place yourself into and choose your own orgasmic adventure as you consider where the story might go after the last word printed on the page.
Sometimes less is more, and if these stories leave you wanting to see them continued, that's a good thing. They are, like the narrative in Swain's opener states, "just the beginning." Very likely you'll find a type of orgasm, a sex toy, a scenario, a position, or a fantasy you'd like to see represented here that may not be. If so, please write yours and continue the conversation. If your orgasm doesn't look or feel the way these characters' climaxes do, that's perfectly okay. I want to see us expand the possibilities for pleasure, orgasmic and otherwise, not add to the umpteen ways we're told we "should" orgasm or have sex. Just as a physical orgasm, however you define or experience that sensation, doesn't define the end of a sexual encounter, a literary orgasm should not mean you are done interacting with the story. I've re-read these pieces, and the numerous submissions I received for this book, multiple times, and each read offers me something new to consider. I envision
The Big Book of Orgasms as one you'll want to revisit, to pick up and read aloud from your favorites to a lover, to keep next to your bed, to tuck into your travel bag.
I'm especially pleased to be publishing so many authors in this collection for the first time in one of my anthologies. There is a power and depth to these voices that I hope resonates with you.

I have been a fan of Cleis Press' anthologies for quite a while now -- and, in my opinion, prolific editor/author Rachel Kramer Bussel has outdone herself with this huge & varied collection of stories. With 69 short stories in all [written by an impressive team of talented authors including Tenille Brown, Emerald, Donna George Storey, and Kay Jaybee among many others], there really is something for everyone here. Each of the stories is entertaining, sexy, and very well written. Everybody who reads this book will come away with their own personal favorites, but to me a few of the stories clearly stood out: Thomas S. Roche's "How You Christen A Bed" is an uplifting story that anyone who has ever had to move on after an all-too-recent break-up will relate to... Annabeth Leong's "All You Do Is Play" (about an improvised rock & roll performance for a grateful audience) is worthy of several encores... Logan Zachary's "Remote Control" could have been published in a science-fiction anthology; it's also humorous, surprising, and sexy... I don't think I will ever be able to turn on The Weather Channel ever again, without thinking of Salome Wilde's urgent "Weathering The Storm"... Virgie Tovar's "Count Out The Strokes" has a tense build-up, followed by a sudden satisfying conclusion... "Icing On The Cake" by Lula Lisbon is an unexpected treat for anyone with a sweet tooth and a sense of humor... Jade A. Walters' "The Flogger" is an absolute knockout... and "I'm On Fire" by Rachel Kramer Bussel delivers actual flames to an already-smoking-hot collection of stories. Dozens of great short stories, collected in a single book -- all for around twelve bucks? Do yourself a favor, and toss a copy of this "Big Book" into your little shopping cart right now.

This is not a book to read and one sitting. I'd say graze is best for this book and then put it down when you're full and then come back to it. No, I have not finished it. And yes, I will, but when I'm ready again to fill up on another set of stories.
Depending on who is doing the writing, and it is a compilation, I feel it can score in the descriptions and sometime miss terribly. I won't go into whose stories I was not fond of, because I think it is a matter of subjective taste. For me, the book started off slowly and I had to look at the title a couple of times to make sure I reading the book I thought I was reading. I have just recently come back to reading erotica after refraining for the last 20 years. I've mostly been reading business books or magazines for pleasure or marketing books for business. Even though this is compilation of books for women, it is NOT like any of Nancy Friday's books. It tries to be, in design perhaps, but because it is from varied authors, that specific rhythm is not met.
The beginning of the book is slow for me and it not particularly erotic. It felt as though I was reading fiction, yes, but more of an instructional fiction. I read the introduction which makes the books seem to me more than it is, but I am only at 27% on my kindle and perhaps that is why I can't say that I absolutely loved it. Skipping around might be best, but I don't know any of the authors to pick out which one I'd prefer and just read their story or stories, so... This is a book that can acquaint you with the new array of women erotica writers though and in that respect I am happy to see there are so many AND that they are not all one sided. The stories I've read or not all about the guy or dominant having all the fun. There are definitely trade-offs and some twists as to what to expect or is expected. That I do appreciate. There is a story so far for everyone's imagination.

I have found that I love reading erotic story anthologies edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. THE BIG BOOK OF ORGASMS: 69 SEXY STORIES is no different. It is like the erotic reading version of a box of chocolates. Truly, I had no idea of the types of stories I would encounter as I read each one. The stories ranged from heterosexual, homosexual, group, fetish, voyeurism, self-love, group, and more, which made getting to the next story so exciting. As a reader, I had no idea what I would encounter. I did know this: The story would be edited superbly, and the story would be highly sensual. Each author managed to cram interesting morsels of sexy stories within the restraining 1,200-word guidelines. Of the collection, the stories that I thoroughly enjoyed were Logan Zachary's "Remote Control", Victoria Blisse's "Pushing Boundaries on Public Transport", and Lady Cheeky's "The Massage."

If you're looking for a hot collection of stories, a perfect beach/vacation read, this is the book for you. Just make sure you have a willing partner close by when you read it.

Big Book of Orgasms is just that! A big book of sexy stories with satisfying endings. They often put the women in the driver sea,t letting them experience a pleasure instead of just giving it. I loved the brevity of the stories, how they were short yet still long enough to be a complete pleasure to read. In this story, we find ropes, trucks, public spaces, and even a few beds. The story I was most impressed with was The Park by Elise Hepner, it is only a full page, but so dang impressive and risque.
