Blue Arrow (Diffusion) Kindle Edition
Is the world ready for Peter Wooley?
Rose Wooley is in love. But her husband Peter is addicted to near-suicidal feats of endurance and adventure. Just when Rose can no longer bear the distress and heartache of his exploits, Peter returns from a trek through the remote wilderness of New Guinea. He claims that he will never leave her again, that he is now a new man. What Rose doesn't realize is how true this really is.
Blue Arrow is a stand-alone novella (15,000 words). But it complements the Diffusion series, and you'll enjoy it even more if you've already read Diffusion and Infusion. If you have read Diffusion and Infusion, you'll already know who Peter and Rose are and will likely be eager to better understand the fascinating history of their relationship.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2022Stan Smith is a delightful artist, and never fails to both surprise and delight. He creates not only interesting and sometimes extraordinarily interesting characters, he has the knack of creating elements or worlds or cultures within which the characters function. In this delightful tale, there are a group of people who seem, at first glance, to be ordinary - threatening, perhaps, but ordinary. And into their world come individuals who are not (we know) NOT ordinary.
And things unfold. Logically - realistically within the confines of this world - but always with a little kick, a little surprise.
It is almost always the case with a Stan Smith work - you hate to see it end.
Once again - Bravo!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2019I have read and thoroughly enjoyed every book you have written. I have read them all.
Now getting to the complaint part. I don't see anymore books out there so snap to it!
Just kidding (partially) keep them coming take the time you need because your books are wonderful to read.
I look forward to your Awesome Animal emails. Nicely done!
Thanks!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2017I have read all mr Smith’s books so far. It’s always a possibility that the next medical breakthrough will be found in one of the few remaining rainforests. I find his books entertaining and completely believable. It could very well happen this way.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2017Stan Smith plans out his stories like Svengali! He draws you into his Diffusion trilogy and drops you into the thick of the action, creating situations that make you frantic to know more about the characters who don't seem to "fit in" even though they're pivotal to the story.
Blue Arrow is the second of the two back stories, focusing on the Wooleys. He is the creator of the game/language that becomes a universal means of communication. However, its creation and aftermath become a lifetime obsession.
Explaining the why's, wherefores and the changes in himself is confusing. But one person does her best to believe in and support her man.
The road of their marriage is rocky and not without its share of grief and regret. But their love surmounts everything. The only down side to the story is that I'm now anxiously awaiting the final book of the trilogy more than ever!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2019This is a great short story about how two people meet, fall in love, marry and learn to love in spite of differences. Their lives go through many twists and turns and they learn how loving someone is more than loving what that person looks like on the outside. People change their outward appearance but are still the same person on the inside. Will their love win the test of time? The book has an amazing ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2020A love story and prequel backstory to the Diffusion book. I loved how this was written from the point of view of his wife, Rose. How Love had to overcome Peter's contact with a strange artifact that had stopped his aging and how they had to overcome obstacles that formed from that.
I think this book is a great prequel to get started into the diffusion universe. I highly recommend reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2019This short love story is well written and interesting. I liked the emotional intelligence of the narrator.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2020What an incredibly fascinating yet different story line that is both gut-wrenching and, at the same time, heart-warming. Never has the old expression “short and sweet” been so apt.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very interesting read
It sounded so believable and reading all of Rose's thoughts during the years, she is an amazing character.
This was the first book I have read in the series and look forward to reading it all.
