- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2017Amal and Chin-Cha have become my favorite beings in this book. There were moments when I burst out laughing and there were moments especially towards the end that were heartfelt, steamy and sweet. The descriptions were very visceral and I felt every scene like I was there. The brutal honesty in which the story was foretold was refreshing and quite welcomed. Everything in the storyline flowed perfectly and the language seemed to be spot on. This book put me in the mind of "The Neverending Story" and "The Golden Compass" both my all time favorite reads in this genre. Absolutely brilliant! The title put me in the thought of this book being totally the opposite of what I thought it was going to be about. I guess that's just my weird head. Even though, I read the blurb, which was short and to the point, which made me smile because Jane has mastered quite skillfully that part of what blurbs should be, which also drew me into wanting to read this book. What I do regret is that I've had the e-book sitting on my Kindle for the past five weeks and I wish I'd read and reviewed it sooner, because it's definitely a must read. I just couldn't stop reading it once I got started until the end. The air of suspense was also top notch. Well done, Jane! Well done! (*bows to the lady*)
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2020A wonderful story of friendship and loyalty. Beautifully written. I hope to see the characters in future stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2021The blurb says simply "A Love Story" but it's so much more. Amal and Chin-Cha are a beautiful pair. Amal is a young healer and midwife who has run afoul of Christian Priests who believe her gifts are witchcraft. Chin-Cha is a big enchanted dog who was once human. They protect each other and as they move through a series of events, find they love each other. If I say much more it gives too much away, but I want all to know it's a sweet and happy fantasy and much more than expected. I'd almost like to see a few more adventures and spinoffs with these characters, but Ms. Jago presents a complete package. A complete page turner with a sighingly sweet end.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2019I enjoyed the storyline and the plot development. In true fairy tale fashion the villains are evil and the heroes true to themselves.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2019The story was good, but a bit confusing at times. But in the end I thought it was ok. I wish I had a little more clarity.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2021Paranormal shifter romances are my favorite stories to read and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It is lovingly written with selfless characters that just want to be together. Unfortunately, there is a huge obstacle in their way that is eventually resolved so that they may live happily ever after (also my favorite kind of romance).
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2020Short quick read, perfect counterpoint to Nils Oldund’s “Emma” - both stories perfectly balanced in their own discrete worlds. Bolded Hearts is good deeds and unwavering certainty rewarded, succinctly and beautifully told.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful
I normally buy a book based on the blurb, this time I went by a combination of the cover and the intriguing description. Three words. "A love story" is the perfect distillation of this tale. It is wonderfully imagined examination of love, I don't want to give too much away but it gave me much to think about in terms of the concept.
The world building is rich and detailed, the pace was just right, yep I loved it! I'm off to add some more of the author's work to my Goodreads "Want to Read" list
