“A game of secrets, of strategy. My queen on the chessboard against the three kings.” My mind is blown! What a shocking ending to book one of the Boneyard Kings series! Everly is trying to figure out what secrets her uncle is keeping from her. While the kings (Callum, Saint and Mateo) are after revenge for their adopted fathers death. Even if they are convinced that Everly has something to do with it they are still drawn to her. The sexual tension between all of them is off the charts! This book drew me in from the very beginning! There are twists, secrets, lust, angst, heartbreak…just an all around emotional book! That ending had me on the edge of my seat and I didn’t want the story to end! If you like dark, twisted, steamy reads then this book is for you! Make sure to check the trigger warnings!

    Wow…the cliffhanger is a doozy. As stated above I could not wait to write my review before diving into Vicious Queen. So I am wiring it now that I have read Vicious Merciless Kings is the first book in the Boneyard Kings series. I was blown away with Merciless Kings and the characters within it. Everly, Cal, Mateo, and Saint are all strong characters with both good and bad character traits. They all come from different backgrounds and have different histories. The Boneyard Kings met in childhood and even though they came from very different background became as close as brothers. They had a bond that meant everything to them and the people they felt was a part of them and who they became. Although you can see they start to have feelings toward Everly they felt that she was a part of whatever her Uncle was involved in. It is not clear yet in Merciless Kings exactly what that is yet but you get hints it has to do with their brother and their adoptive father’s deaths. Be prepared for the cliffhanger to be a doozy and to want to have Vicious Queen on hand. I was just thankful that Vicious Queen was already released and available. I highly recommend Merciless Kings, Boneyard Kings series, and both Becca Steele and C. Lymari as authors.

    I had been eyeing this series up because I love everything by Becca Steele and this other series started out well. It wasnt my favorite of the trilogy but it set the tone really well for the rest of the series.

    Everly has her life turned upside down after losing her loved ones and now has to live with her uncle, who is a dean at a local college. We meet the Boneyard Kings and they don’t hold back their feelings regarding Everly. We don’t know why they are so adamant to act their revenge out on Everly and her family (that is revealed in a subsequent book) and it made me start up on book 2 right away because I wanted all the plots and subplots answered haha. I thought some of the scenes felt rushed, timeline-wise, and yes I know it’s fiction but when it’s in the contemporary space I expect to have some realism, allowing more connection to the book. Again my personal preference. I think the way they bullied her and how she reacted to their behavior and how quick things happened just didnt mesh for me 100% That is my only issue, the rest of the story and world building was great!

    The steam in this series is well balanced with the plot, there are so many mysteries in book 1, evil things you can’t even imagine yet and the clues the authors give are done so well. I felt for Everly and how she was blindsided by things and was so innocent but needed to know what was going on, why her uncle was acting odd. I thought the chemistry between the characters was fab, the tension was amazing and I ate it up! I had a tough time figuring out the guys in book 1, but that definitely changes in book 2 and esp book 3! The guys are not your clean cookie cutter heroes. They have darkness within them, have tough pasts, have made this found family after being treated poorly by their loved ones.

    This book does a good job setting the stage for the rest of the series, and the audiobook was done well so would give it overall 4/5 stars ❤️ I loved the full cast, the guys doing their respective characters and the one female narrator (who I really enjoy) immersed me as a listener in this complicated, steamy, high octane, gruesome world and I went through the series waaaay too quickly. The emotions they all showcase...the fear, humiliation, lust, etc. were done really well, performances hit the mark. No complaints or constructive feedback for the audio!!

    What’s better than one alphahole!? 3! I absolutely love saint, mateo and callum and when they set their sights on everly it’s more than entertaining to read.

    Everly is a meek under the radar just trying to survive girl living on a collage campus and only has her uncle as family and just wants to make him proud but when the men with a vengeance suddenly want to make them hers she tries to fight it but her body? Well it had other plans.

He’ll take her in any way possible preferably below his shook and scared and fighting because well!? He likes them that way but also family first am i right? The way he gives himself to everly he let her in but to him? She ruined his family and he’s ready to make her pay. I loved the dynamic between him and everly it was amazing to watch him open to her.

    Now let’s talk about callum, thes a take no shit not big on words kind of man and he didn’t want in on the fun he wanted the ruin without the benefits but he definitely was feeling for everly tho he didn’t show it but when he finally let’s go it’s only during her ruin and I can’t wait to see where this goes from here he’s dark and he’s angry and I want to see him let go when he held her during the fight for protection but also because well he wanted to I knew she’d also be his ruin too.
