This book was very sexy. I’m still fanning myself. The O’Reillys and the Lucianos are very close families and they mingle in every way, lol. Joey “the Looch” Luciano is a star in the NHL and Liam O’Reilly’s career on an opposing NHL team is winding down. Christmas is a time when both families come together as one and it brings Joey, who’s 10 years younger than Liam, face to face with his childhood crush once again. Things get heated, I’m talking slow burn. Hot to the touch. Sexy. This short read is a prequel to their story. Can’t wait to read more.

This was a very sexy, warmly Christmasy tale but beware, it ends with a total cliffhanger. The two completely hot main characters share Christmas Eve and Christmas Day sneaking scorching hot sex interludes in the midst of a massive family Christmas celebration. All the details of the semi-merged Irish and Italian family with tons of relatives, loads of food, and flowing libations made for a cheery and fun seasonal romp. This is a story of a young hockey hot shot who's always been in love and lust with his older, next door neighbor cousin, who is ten years older and sidelined into coaching because of an injury. The fooling around can't mean anything or come to anything, right? Not quite. What drove me crazy was the story ends with a goodbye at the airport and nothing resolved--until the next book. This was a very short story and I felt cheated that the author chose to split it up this way, when it could have easily made one book. It was very good however and a great seasonal read, so I'll have to just immediately shell out for the next installment.

Boy Toys was a one click for me. A. E. Wasp never disappoints with the men and their partners. Liam gets an unpleasant homecoming. Santa Joey is there to help him to a Merry Christmas. They're a whole lot louder than they mean to be what with the house so full of people it's bursting at the seams. Running into Nana in the hall? Looks like a merry night for all. With 3,000 miles separating Liam and Joey it looks like a one night stand and no complications. They must be crazy to even think it. I can't wait to read the rest of the story. It will be as funny and heartwarming as the other Hot Off The Ice books. I love how the writing makes the men and the rest of the family seem like a real family. It's for sure they're as nosy as mine.

I think that I may have enjoyed this book more during the holiday season - but in February I was over it and the story itself was just a generic build up to the full novel that would be coming out later this year...

In the goodreads synopsis, there is no mention that this is a prequel novella which was where my disappointment stemmed from originally, but also, it felt too quick and convenient. Everything that occurs takes place within a few hours and it felt too quick. Not to mention that it leaves on a cliffhanger - which I HATE in romance novels. It feels like a cheap play by the author to get you to read more of their writing... If an author is confident in their writing they shouldn't need to dealing with these gimmicks.

    Final notes:
-Told in alternating third person [a plus]
    - Plenty of little kids
    - Minor age difference of 9 years between the two main characters
    - Lots of drinking and shenanigans going on

First off, this is sort of a prequel or the first in a duet. While the story comes to a conclusion, it is not a HEA. Boy Next Door, book 5, tells the rest of Joey and Liam’s story. I waited until now to read the two together because I don’t read stories until they are complete.

I loved getting to know Liam, Joey, and their families, and the complicated relationships involved. The scenes with Joey and Liam were super hot. The story was at a natural break at the end, and left me very excited for the next book with them.

Joey had always crushed on Liam when he was a kid. He idolized the older boy from next door. Coming home to the multifamily Christmas celebration, brings them together in an unexpected and passionate way, and sets the stage for the next book in the series.

I loved this book. Like the rest of the series it has not only hot boys but hot boys on skates who play hockey. The characters are well rounded and likeable. The story line has minimal angst but still gives a story that pulls you in and keeps you reading. I love these characters and the way they interact.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves hot boys, mm love and hockey.

I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series, but I had no trouble jumping right in with this one. I loved Joey and Liam, I loved their families, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see where Joey and Liam’s relationship goes from here.

Tolle Reihe + tolle Autorin.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good start, waiting for the big finish!
Reviewed in Canada on September 18, 2018
Starting this story I thought this was a bit of a heavy topic for a short. A big breakup, possible life changes, and then a trust that fulfills a childhood crush? Sounds great, but to tell the whole story it would need a book, so how to pull it off in a short? Answer; by not doing it! This is just the introduction to Joey and Liam who will get a book later. Now it was an excellent introduction. With the families, the history, the whole Christmas setup. Add in the attic and the mix of find childhood memories and a bit of spying on sexy times and this was an explosive start! That's all it is though, a start. The characters go their separate ways to their own lives at the end, ignoring all the spark and passion that is introduced. It is a huge tease, but well worth it! My biggest complaint? At the end it says the book that will tell their story will be released March 2018- it's not out yet! Great story, but now to wait for the whole thing......

Enjoyed the book as a whole. Founds parts, especially the start hard to get into. Feel ut would be better a part of a longer story about Liam abd Joey.
