About the author

Patricia Rareg was born in Martinique in 1968 and currently lives in France. She has a master’s degree in British Civilisation. Her first short stories in French were published at university in an anthology « Éclosions ». In 2006, her novel « C’est l’heure ! » (Time has Come!) was published: the story of a man who leads a happy life until a man stops him in the street and tells him « Time has come! ».
In 2012, following writing workshop at Shakespeare&Company in Paris, Patricia’s first story in English « Sunday Talks » was published in an anthology « Vignettes and Postcards from Paris ».
Patricia completed a second novel, but never published it and right now she is working on her third novel that takes place in a village where people are kept awake by strange noises coming from the mountain in the middle of the night.
Apart from writing, Patricia enjoys travelling (New York and San Francisco this year), cinema, theatre, littérature of course, cats but also dogs and horses. And she is a blown belt in Tae Kwon Do.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2020Just finished this collection of short stories by Patricia Rareg and it gave me a feeling reminiscent of a Jacques Tourneur noir horror film.
Back cover:
“Each story in this collection deals with breaking up whether it is mental, physical, emotional. The characters are all facing feelings they cannot control and in the end they bring destruction and madness on themselves.”
These stories are definitely psychological. They are about characters who are losing control of everything in their lives and as a result warp their own sense of reality. 😬 An interesting and scary read.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2020This collection of short stories covers many types of break ups. Some are just painful while others are tragic. I found them to be interesting and some a little sad. And some has an undertone of mental illnesses.
