Lexi met Niko at a Dalles Demons hockey practice. Instant attraction. However, insecurities and doubts about their self-worth plagued Lexi and Niko. Neither revealed how they felt. The relationship was rocky. Interesting plotline, well written very complex characters and I liked the story. I thought Lexi's reactions to things was a little over the top. She went ballistic before knowing what really happened. Niko was patient with her because he really understood why she always reacted the way she did. I recommend.

This is book 3 in the Dallas Demons series. I have been wanting this book since we met Lexi in a previous book. Lexi is an editor whose passion is hockey in a football town. She has been wanting to become an editor for the Demons since college. In her downtime she tries to attend practice for the Demons and take video to edit and put online. But this practice changes the course of her life. One puck over the glass and one obscenely hot guy who saves her from it, start the change that Lexi's life needed. Little did she know how much her savior, Niko, would come to mean to her. I have read all of Aven's books and each and every time I feel the butterflies in my stomach for that first kiss, that falling in love moment. No author has ever given me that with every book they write. I loved catching up with some of the other characters in the first two books as well. Aven Ellis is an author that you should be picking up anything and everything she writes! She is an automatic one-click author for me that must never stop writing these amazing books!

I loved this next addition to the Dallas Demons Hockey Romance series. Lexi is a girl who loves Hockey and she went to college to become a video editor. Her dream job would be to work for the network that produces the Dallas Demons broadcasts. She was at a team practice one day shooting the guys so she could practice editing shots together when she heats "watchout" and is flattened to the bleachers by the most beautiful man she has ever seen just as a puck missed her head. Nico, the new producer for the Demons broadcasts, is her hero in all his Greek God glory! Once he finds out she has the abilities, he gets her a job with company but it's hard to work beside him not knowing what their status is, friends? Just Co-Workers? This is really confusing!! And they both have something to prove, his job is just for a year, and her job is just a foot in the door, they can't let a workplace romance mess that up.

The author's books are very easy to read. Well written, and there is a lot of humor in them. My issue with this book, and just about every other book written by her is that they are formulaic at best. Every single book follows the same plot line, with little variation. It feels as if you read one book, you pretty much have read them all as they all follow the same plot line.
Girl meets boy. Girl likes boy. Girl dates boy, but then has doubts, and self sabotages the relationship. Boy fixes the the problem. Then boy has doubts, and they break up. Boy and girl make up, and have their happily ever after. Every. Single. Time. In. Every. Single. Book.
Another issue that I have is that the heroines can feel a bit shallow, because of the constant reference to this or that designer. Like, that is all that they seem to focus on. Wearing this dress, or having that bag. There is more to people that fashion, and I feel that she does her characters a bit of a disservice by focusing on that aspect of their personalities.
What I do love, though, is that the author does give the characters depth, and personality. Each one is unique, in their own way, and each one has their own humor.

Aven Ellis scores a Hat Trick with this one! 3 out of 3 for this fun, witty, romantic hockey series is a winner in my book. Niko is sexy and sensitive while Lexi is awesome with strength and talent, but yet some vulnerability that allows you to relate to her. Seeing characters come forward from previous Dallas Demons series was a great continuation. I started the book and couldn't put it down so I finished it in a day! Love Hockey, Love Romance, Love this book! Can't wait for the next one to come out to see what happens with Cici, JP and Nate's sister????? 2016 seems to long to wait, but I will. Thanks for a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly wonderful and complete perfection
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 4, 2015
Aven has done it again with this utterly brilliant, completely gorgeous, laugh out loud, sweet romantic comedy.

She has created possibly my favourite hero to date. I love Aven’s men but Niko Xenakis is in a league of his own. As the producer for the Dallas Demons he is determined, ambitious and committed to getting the job done, but in his personal life he is passionate, sweet, kind and oh my god sexy as hell. From his very dramatic, wonderful entrance into the story I completely fell in love with him. His fiery, passionate nature is so compelling to read, when he gets angry or protective, or he goes after what he wants, he is so damn attractive and his first kiss with Lexi is so sexy, so commanding and probably my most favourite first kiss ever.

I loved Lexi, she was sweet and smart and I loved her passion for hockey. She had a very vulnerable side too based on her past but I loved how Niko cared for her and his love made her stronger.

Their chemistry was so hot and so tender and their connection was so true and genuine that you knew this couple were meant to be together. I loved their banter too, they had some very sweet and some absolutely hilarious moments together.

The supporting cast was again superb. Lexi’s relationship with her best friend Kenley was just perfect, the way they bounced off each other was hilarious, but the love between these two friends was so sweet and wonderful to see. CiCi was back in this story and the humour from her was brilliant.

I devoured every single page, I couldn’t put it down. I read one part on the train with the biggest smile on my face. Its absolutely one of the best books I’ve read this year.

Buy it now and you won’t regret it, but make sure you clear time in your diary to read it, as you won’t want to put it down once you start. Utter perfection yet again from this incredibly talented writer.

    5 Sparkly Stars!

Aven Ellis is my go to author - if I'm sad, her books will cheer me up. If I'm happy, they will keep me there. If I'm insecure, they will provide me some reassurance. If I need reminding that the world isn't a horrible place, they'll do that and BREAKOUT was no different - it is everything anyone needs in a romance novel and so much more.

"Come on, Lexi, trust me. Give me one of your hands."

Breakout is the story of Lexi and Niko - Lexi is a young, vibrant video editor who lands a summer job at a corporate firm doing work that, whilst great experience, isn't exactly what she wants to be doing. Whilst working there she meets Niko - the Dallas Demons TV producer. Niko is new to the role and the cit and is looking to prove himself worthy whilst also learning to live in an entirely new place.

The two of them have a an instant connection, though neither of them are willing to let their hearts or bodies make the moves as they've both got a crap ton of baggage from various aspects of their lives.

Lexi is such an adorable character - I related to her on almost every level and her internal dialogue made me laugh out loud almost every other page.

"My life really is an episode of Gossip Girl"

Then we have Niko...how do I describe Niko? ... ***comes back to computer after daydreaming for an hour***

    Niko is:

    Hot
    Hard working
    Hot
    Focused
    Hot
    Funny
    Hot
    Clever
    Hot
    Adorable
    Hot
    Manly
    Hot

Did I mention he is HOT?!

I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this book as it was being written and since its been finished, I've re-read it twice...that's THREE TIMES in a year! It is just that GOOD!!!

OMG, Aven has done it again, she's created another perfect man, an intelligent woman and a gorgeous love story between Niko and Lexi. These two are such likeable people and I found myself willing for them to become a loved up happy ever after couple. They are people from different backgrounds yet with similar goals for their own personal careers. They each have a great strength of character which really appealed to me as a reader. This book is smoking hot, humorous, and also sensitive. As Aven describes Niko, my goodness, I can imagine him. I wouldn't decline a date with him dressed in his crisp suit for work or his casual jeans. The only thing I would have to ask him to do would be to stop keep calling me "baby" *yuk* but maybe that's a term of endearment Greek men like to use. Wait a minute, I've had another thought on this, perhaps for a Starbucks red cup of gingerbread latte I could forgive him! 5 great big snowflakes from me for Breakout ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️.

3.0 out of 5 stars Predictable story from this author
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 9, 2019
This is a standalone romance novel with a HEA that forms part of a series with overlapping characters. It is like a mish mash of other books by this author eg relentless use of brand names when describing clothes, make up etc. Guess the author is after a sponsorship deal? It means little to a non-American reader though. It also makes the heroine seem somewhat superficial and shallow with her obsession with describing things with regard to who manufactures them. I was tempted to find out how many times Starbucks was mentioned!
At times I actually disliked the heroine and the arguments that she repeatedly starts with Niko because of her insecurities. She has no empathy whatsoever for her birth mother. She has clearly led an extremely privileged life and frequently appears selfish, as if life is all about her. There are also several editing errors that I noticed, mainly where words are in the wrong order in a sentence.
