I Broke Into His Office (Love at First Crime Book 4) Kindle Edition
He broke into his office, and had his heart stolen in return.
I broke into his office,
But I didn’t have a choice.
So what if he is good-looking?
So what if he is single?
So what if he is my type?
Why should it worry me that he could easily overpower me?
Who cares if what I’m doing is wrong and illegal?
I can’t second-guess myself, even if there is the possibility of more between us.
The risk is too great.
The threat all too real.
Unfortunately, my life is about to implode,
And the least of my problems is an irate private investigator.
When old threats return,
And new threats—mainly four scary women—attack,
The best thing I can do is just keep my head down and ride it out.
Then, why can’t I stop thinking about him?
Why do I find him so irresistible?
And what happens if I make one mistake and lose him forever?
Because this is quickly becoming far more than either of us could have ever imagined,
And the life and death stakes mean neither of us can mess up.
I can’t believe breaking into his office has led to all this.
Then again, as some people say: there is nothing quite like love at first … crime.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2019You would think that if you got caught, it couldn't be too bad, but you would be wrong. Nix has a horrible father, and he knows it. But his mother is wonderful, and is caught in his father's attempts to get out of prison and resume running his crime syndicate. To keep his mother safe, all Nix has to do is break into the office of the private investigator his mother hired, steal the evidence they have against his father, and get out. Easy. Except Nix gets caught by Harvey, the investigator, and things just keep going down hill from there. And even through all the horrible stuff that happens, Nix can't stop thinking about Harvey, can't stop wanting to be near him. Nix knows that running his own restaurant is a time suck, and what ruined his last relationship. So while there is chemistry and sparks between Nix and Harvey, it will never work, they wont have time for each other. So why can't they stay away?
I have not read the other books in this series, and it was not a problem. You don't understand all the dynamics between the other couples, but it is sufficiently explained and doesn't distract or bring down the story. I also didn't think I would like this book that much either. I thought it was going to be a fluff type quick read, but I was way wrong on both accounts. It was action packed, was hot and steamy, and I couldn't put it down. And I'm now going to be reading the other books to see what else could go wrong for this little investigation firm and the friends that have bonded because of it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2023I liked the story as a whole. Unfortunately, Sasha, Teagan, and the other previous female characters kinda ruined the story this time. They were way too involved in the relationship, very unlikeable, and make me want to skip over basically all the scenes they were in. I’m sure I’ll like the next book better :)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2017This is my first m/m book and i was not sure what to expect at all. Nix had just the right amount of sas and the witty come backs were everything i really wish in some points you got to see what was going on in Harvey's head . I live for Scarlett she is everything I hope we get to see her story unfold . I found the bad guy to creepy for word's. The amount of effort put into all the characters blows my mind they are literally walking round in my head in a movie. Another book i had trouble putting down i can not wait for the next installment in this series i am sure that will be another hit. All in all for my first m/m book i am so totally impressed i am definitely going to give others a read to see how they stand up. Loved this book if i could give it more stars i would!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2020I liked Nix and Harvey as a couple. Since this is Nix’s POV, Harvey is still a bit of a mystery but we do get some backstory. I liked how the guys moved their relationship along despite their own fears of being unable to prioritize it.
I did not love the girl gang in this one. Especially Sasha. She was so abrasive and over the top strong personality. Nix needed to be eased in and they just womp him over the head over and over. I got
Very frustrated with all the girls here over this behavior.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2021Ah, I finished too late last night to write a review. One thing I like about this series is, whole the stories usually take place over a short time, the timeline itself is over several years - so from the first book, this one is six years after that. I highly recommend reading the entire series in order.
Nix is not who I expected, at all. I was expecting a brat, or a stereotype, but he’s pretty real. Harvey is a bit more of a mystery, still, but he fills in a lot from the previous book.
On to the next!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2018I love this author, but this book was not for me.. I am sure others will enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2018I Broke into his Office is book four in Jessica Frances’s Love at First Crime series.
Phoenix needs to break into an office and steal some damning evidence against his father. Too bad he’s caught not only himself but the PI working on his mother’s case. Before Nix knows it, he’s in deep trouble, and Harvey may be his only way out.
This was a very plot-driven romance. Nix is in deep. He’s father is not a good man, but he’s being blackmailed, and it lands Nix in some very hot water. Enter Harvey, the man who put Nix’s father away and has the paperwork Nix needs to steal. The connection between them is on fire from the get-go, and I Ioved it!
Harvey’s got the whole take-charge thing going on. He can’t help but want to protect Nix, but taking on Nix as a client means no messing around. With temptation everywhere he looks, however, Harvey’s in as deep of hot water as Nix is.
I enjoyed the beginning of the book. This series has a very original plot device to it that intrigued me, and I really loved how the meet-up happens between our two MCs. Halfway through the book, however, the story focuses more on the plot and lost my interest. There’s just a lot going on. One bad thing after another, and if you like your romance with a significant side plot, then this is a great read.
Unfortunately for me, I wanted a more character-driven romance. The pace dragged it down, and perhaps I should have started reading on book one. There’s quite a few characters to keep track of, although it does make me want to check out the others in the series.
Overall, a good book that I think readers of romantic suspense will enjoy.
3.5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ótimo! !
