4.1 out of 5 stars 130 ratings

Could lives be changed forever when a secret is revealed?

Nick Buchanan travels to America to meet the family he’d recently discovered existed. When his half-brother, Chase gives him a cold reception, the only ray of sunshine is Brad, Chase’s best friend. Unfortunately, Brad is on the ‘don’t touch’ list, if Nick wants to make amends with Chase.
Brad is hooked the moment he sees Nick, but he knows he can’t give in to temptation without losing his friend.
Despite their best intentions, their mutual attraction can’t be denied, and they cross a line they swore they wouldn’t.
Can their relationship survive, or will distance and loyalties tear them apart?

Broken Promises is a low angst, best friend’s sibling, hurt/comfort, gay romance. Oh, and noisy parents who’ll talk about anything!

What can I say about me? I have two boys who keep me on my toes and a cat who adopted us. She walked in one day and hasn’t left. We might be getting a dog too. Who knows?

I love to read about men in love. Flawed, but strong men, who need some TLC and find their happy ending. I love to write about those same type of men too, sometimes with added kink! I also love to read horrors, thrillers and crime novels.

When I’m not trying to keep my boys in line, or writing about hot sexy men, I like to work on my allotment. I also like to read, to take walks in the countryside, and visit historical places. Recently, we went to Stonehenge and Avebury. It was an amazing experience.

Love this story and wish that I could give it more then 5 stars, slow to start but great family drama and secrets. Finding love and wanting to keep it.
Nick Buchanan travels to America after finding out from his dying father that he left behind a whole other family, a family that only his father knew about and kept them secret till he was in his last few days of life, so he goes in search of his half-siblings wanting to let them know that he died and to finally meet them. Nick has to travel alone because his brother Danny is expecting his first baby. Nick gets a semi warm but also shocking welcome, especially from his half brother Chase. Chase with a temper and remembers his father too well wants answers as to why he left but really no one knows the real reason.
Brad is best friends with Chase since they were kids and stuck together thru everything. He is the only one that can calm Chase down especially when his temper gets in the way and doesn’t want to listen to reason. Brad though knows Nick should be off limits since he is Chase’s brother but they both have an attraction and finally decide where it will go.

New to me author. This is a mm contemporary story set in the USA. Main characters are Brad and Englishman Nick. Great side story about Nick meeting a family he didn’t know existed. I’ll read more from this author and series.

When Nick's father passed away, the last thing he expect he would have to do is travel to America and tell his father's other family that he passed away. After traveling to America and meeting his new siblings, including his half-brother Chase, and his best friend Brad. Chase is so angry , he wants absolutely nothing to do with Nick. Brad doesn't want to ruin his friendship with Chase, but wants to keep spending time with Nick.
This book wasn't a bad start, but was one that could have been better. I liked the premise of the story, it is one that is not done often, and was done well. I difficulty with this story was with Chase. His character would act one way, and then pages later would be completely opposite. It made it difficult to follow and enjoy. The attractions between Nick and Brad was a little quick, but wasn't out of line (not a totally instant-attraction). It will be interesting to see how the author continues the series.

How do you get over knowing your father left his wife and children behind, with no warning or explanation? How do you deal learning that other family never even knew you existed? Nick's father's deathbed confession led to him showing up on that other family's doorstep, an ocean away, with no idea what the reception might be. He's mourning the father he loved while simultaneously trying to reconcile within his own mind and heart how the man he loved and admired could abandon his first family - meaning Nick has older siblings he never knew. His half brother, Chase, does not take this new knowledge well, but Chase's friend Brad will do everything he can to help both brothers deal with the new knowledge that's been dumped on them. And if Brad and Nick can't help but be attracted to one another..? That's just something they can ignore. Right? I loved this first book in a new series and can't wait to see what comes next for the residents of Sater's Creek.

The whole idea of the two families had my attention... The characters were interesting, and I was happy to see Chase coming around to a logical acceptance of his brother. I was waiting for Nick and Brad to finally get together; when they did, it was a very affair... I’m glad this is a series that will keep these characters alive!!

A sweet read. I liked Nick. A man of his word. Despite the discomfort, he flies to the US to meet siblings he didn't know he had. Shocked by his father's deathbed confession. Once there he found all willing to open their hearts, except for his brother Chase.

The anger Chase showed was repetitious. He would agree with his family to meet Nick part way, then blow up. Suddenly he's cool with having two new brothers. I get he needed time to cool off, he said cruel things he shouldn't have.

Brad and Nick relationship started as lust, the two getting to know each other slowly.

The two families get to know each other. Friendships developed. Relationships deepened.

Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Well this author is new to me and I always love finding new authors to read. I rather enjoyed this story, it grabbed me from the beginning as you just want to know why? Why would a father do that, why would a brother do that to another brother. I loved Nick and Brad and all the side characters ( except Chase, I just wanted to smack him but he did redeem himself ) are well developed into the storyline so you just cant wait for their stories. Now I’m off to find other stories by this author.

What a great story line. I loved it from the first chapter. Nick was so brave. And Brad was awesome. The chemistry and connection was there from the start, but they both tried to resist because of the circumstances they found themselves in. I am so looking forward to book two.

    3.0 out of 5 stars Good read - but I wanted more...something...

The premise behind the book was good. Nick has come to Sater’s Creek on a deathbed promise to his father, the man that he looked up to for all of his life and the man who has just turned his life upside down. While there he meets Brad, his newly discovered half-brother Chase’s best friend. His newly discovered half-brother who hates him straight off. There was angst in this book, between Nick and Chase (because of the whole newly discovered half-brother thing) and between Nick and Brad (because who wants to mess up a life long friendship?), but I just felt that something was missing that I can’t even put my finger on...maybe a sense of urgency or deep emotion. I will be reading book 2 in the series because I want to see how the series goes and Broken Promises was not a bad read, just a bit lacklustre in parts.

1.0 out of 5 stars FAIL... NEEDS AN EDITOR.

Seriously This NEEDS TO BE EDITED BADLY..  DNF 🚫 not recommended
Wrong names used along with other mistakes. I'm sure Sally knows her own son's name instead of her son's friend.. The beginning first few pages really need work too.. I knew this was a bad one with edit problems right off. I'm passing on this author's work from now on. Sorry not wasting my money.

Chase opens the door to a stranger but in fact they where his step-brother. Nick 26 yrs was nervous about what he had to do informing Chase his father was died.
