I've always admired Scarlett's self-confidence and drive. She was unapologetically ambitious, and it is a close tie between her and Max on who's the scariest Kingston.     OMG I have loved Scarlet from the beginning and did not see this coming as her future LOL. Cade is absolutely perfect for her and I was so emotional with her.     Scarlet Kingston is a phenomenal woman who comes across as cold and hardcore but she is anything but. Cade St. James is the man she has always loved but she let him go when they were young adults. They get their second chance when Scarlet gets pregnant after they spend the night together. Scarlet thinks that she is going to handle Cade like she does everyone else but he’s not having it. Cade sees beyond what Scarlet shows to others. Cade has to love all of the hurt away that’s left over from when they were kids in love. At the same time, Scarlet has to reveal secrets to Cade and get over her fears.

    So overall I like this book. I'm about halfway through it. The plot is pretty well paced. Not too heavy (though there are some heavier serious topics) so it's a nice light read. I love the characters and the interaction between every one except the little girl Brynlee.

    I LOVE books with children in them. They can be so well done and cute. Unfortunately, this little girl is not well done. She is supposed to be 3 but speaks in fully formed and grammatically correct sentences. I've never me a 3 year old that could speak that way. It really takes me out of the story. Here's an example:

    “It’s not funny. I like my toys a certain way, and a baby won’t know how to do that.”
    “I really think she needs a name and her own room, Daddy. Scarlet can stay with me because I know she’ll clean up after herself like you make me do. But baby needs her own room.”

    The author makes references that the child is 3 going on 13 to try to say the girl is more advanced....but come on! Replace some of the he/she with him/hers (as many toddlers don't have a clear grasp of when to use the two). Make her say shorter sentences. Throw in some spelling/sounds into the word (ex: "Me's fwree years" instead of "I'm three years old".)

    Every time this toddler talks, it throws me out of the story because I'm like a 3 year old doesn't talk like that! I've had to change the age in my mind to be older to make the dialog fit but then get thrown again when they reference her age.

    Other than that, I do really like the book!

    I only discovered Bella Matthews’s books a couple weeks ago and I will be a forever fan.

    So far I am loving the Restless Kings series and I can’t wait to read the rest of them. Scarlet Kingston is a strong female character who is unapologetic herself and works hard to stay on top while working in a very male dominated environment.

    Then you meet Cade St.James who is a single father and owns a gym after being in the Marines. With two such strong alpha types, sparks are sure to fly.

    I love the fact that they were in a relationship 13 years prior and that they found their way back to each other. You learn more about their past and what lead to the decisions that were made. It was such a heartfelt book that shows how special second chance romances can be.

    This couple is tested in ways that you won’t see coming but you will be so happy that you went on this journey. Broken King is officially out, make sure to grab a copy!

    Of all the Kingston siblings, I would have to say Scarlet is probably the one that I had wanted a story for the most. Add in one of my favourite tropes in a surprise pregnancy and Bella Matthews has delivered far more than I could have hoped for, I absolutely loved this one.

    Cade has all the brawn and alpha tendencies that you would expect from a retired fighter with a killer soft side when it comes to his favourite girls. Watching Scarlet’s ice queen exterior crack as she fell in love with not only Cade but his adorable daughter too, gah I couldn’t get enough!

Don't worry if you don't know who these other characters are you will meet them as side characters (or in their own right in Rose of the King).

    I always think how is Matthews going to top her last book...then she releases her next one... I mean holy swear words... I just could not put this book down...it is something very special and a book I need in every format to reread time and again.

    Author Bella Matthews did a wonderful job helping Scarlet come to terms with the changes she will have to make and keeps readers turning pages to see how everything plays out.
