The Butterfly Effect (Boggy Creek Valley Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,207 ratings

The butterfly effect — one small change, one moment in time that impacts the future.

At twenty-six years old I never dreamed I’d walk in on my husband in bed with my best friend. At twenty-seven years old I found myself divorced, and the mother of a one-year-old son. Never mind I was learning to take the reins of my family’s apple orchard business. There was no way my life could be any more complicated…or so I thought.

Can a woman who’s lost all trust in men help a man who can’t even trust himself?

Aiden O’Hara was my brother’s best friend, and I would be remiss if I said I hadn’t always found him utterly attractive—and the passing of time or circumstances didn’t change that. But when he moves back to Boggy Creek Valley after serving his time as a Navy SEAL, I cannot deny the pull I feel between us.

Aiden is haunted by his own demons—demons that seem bigger than the both of us—and my heart warns me to stay away. I’d been burned already and didn’t need that added complication in my life, or so I thought. But one moment in time changes everything between us, and neither one of us can deny the hidden feelings we share.

Our pasts want to keep us apart…our future will be up to the wings of fate.

The Butterfly Effect is book one in the Boggy Creek Valley series and is a stand-alone novel.

Mama Dada Bird
Sweet and juicy like fresh apple, shiny with emotions of love and fragrant like an orchard. Kelly has woven a story of chances, sacrifices and immense power of love in this book which helf me captivate by the cover itself. Let me tell you, the story inside is equally fresh and poignant. Willamina Turner is born in a small town and attached to its land which bears fruits of labor, red and pink and gala. Boggy Creek Valley Apple Orchards . Her heart is in the soil, the trees, the red fruits, the scent, the people. Her childhood crush is her brother Hunter's best friend - Aiden O'Hara. Aiden's destined to join the Navy to continue his family trend and he can't afford to see Willa being a wait-at-home gf so he sacrifices his love for her freedom. “One small, innocent smile had a ripple effect on my entire life. Like the Butterfly Effect” The years apart change their lives drastically and not in a good way for both of them. Fate gives them a second chance at love and they'd be fools not to grasp it. Two things I loved at this point. Willa's heart is as big as the orchard acreage. She can give and give continously. Aiden is in the pit of despair and PTSD but she never lets go. Her compassion and tenacity ultimately heals Aiden. Secondly my heart just swooned when Aiden asks Ben for the special favour. It's one of those tiny gestures that just make me all gooey-melty with love. Bite into this heavenly delight, rich and aromatic. Chew slowly and let your senses burst with all the flours of love 4.5 stars for Mama Dada Bird

WOW! I absolutely loved The Butterfly Effect the first book in Kelly Elliott’s new Boggy Creek Valley series! The Butterfly Effect is an incredible love story, that is filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions and I could not put it down. I loved every moment on every page. Kelly Elliott definitely did not disappoint with The Butterfly Effect and has once again delivered an incredible story filled with everything that I love about her books. She has once again provided her readers with the amazing characters, that I have come to love and expect in her books, they feel like family! Who doesn't love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, big loving families, and caring friends, who always support one another? Kelly Elliott continues to deliver all that and so much more. One of my favorite parts of her books is how she incorporates the title of the book into the love story, with simple quotes from Dr. Sharpe and Willa. I am not sure how she does it, but Kelly Elliott has once again given her readers another amazing book. The Butterfly Effect is filled with all the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments and plot twists, that I have come to love and expect in a Kelly Elliott love story, I especially loved the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Once again Kelly Elliott has proven that she is an incredible story teller. I love that she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting inside their minds and knowing their thoughts and how they really feel. The Butterfly Effect is a story about a best friend’s little sister and getting a second chance at first love. I love the lighter moments in The Butterfly Effect where I found myself smiling and laughing. My favorite moments are the ones that cause me to sigh, say aww to myself with tears filling my eyes. The Butterfly Effect is filled with such moments and so much more. The Butterfly Effect is about Willamina “Willa” Turner, divorced single Mom to Ben, who works at her family’s apple orchard business and Aiden O’Hara, retired Navy SEAL and best friend of Willa’s brother, Hunter. Willa’s best friend and lawyer, Bree convinces her to celebrate her divorce from her husband, Brian. When Willa arrives at Brew’s Place, she discovers her one and only true love, Aiden is at the same bar. Aiden has returned Boggy Creek after being injured in his last Navy SEAL mission and has decided not to reenlist. Willa and Aiden have had feelings for each other since they were teens, but Aiden did not want Willa to have to leave her family and the apple orchard to be a military wife. Willa and Aiden spend time together, but Aiden suffers from PTSD and is not willing to admit it to Willa. Aiden is concerned that he could harm Willa or Ben, so he pushes Willa away. Willa decides to fight for Aiden and decides to seek help for herself and Aiden. Willa has her own insecurities from her marriage to Brian. I love all the details about PTSD and the assistance that is available for those suffering from PTSD that Kelly Elliott included in her story. I love when both Aiden and Willa get real with their true feelings for one another and open up to each other in the emotionally charged dialogue that transpires between the two of them. The Butterfly Effect was such a bittersweet story, but I am so glad that Willa and Aiden got the happily ever after that they so deserved. I loved Ben and his relationship with Aiden, especially when Aiden asks Ben’s permission to marry his Mom. I love all the changes that Aiden was willing to make in his life, to have a life with Willa and Ben. I love all her characters in this book, and I love the descriptions of the setting in Boggy Creek Valley. The Butterfly Effect is an incredibly written love story and I loved every moment. Highly recommend this beautifully written story.

This story was pretty much an eye opener. This is the first time I have read a book that gives PTSD a true character. It also gives you access for information for help in the story.
This story was about second chances. He had left her behind to become a Navy SEAL. Now ten years later he is back. His career over. She has just gotten a divorce from her cheating husband. Their reunion has been good and bad. He is suffering from the trauma of what he endured while in the service. Can these two people who have loved each other be able to overcome his past to have their own happiness together?

Omg Aiden and Willow a love story for the ages. I loved it very much and I love he accepted the kid but maybe the kid knew he was suppose to be around his mommy. A nosey town too all in the business. This book was great and glad it touch on PTSD and TbI. Too many soldiers come back and suffer and has no help. Also to show Annabelle also suffering from her own pstd that not related to being in military was good too. Question who did Bree have a wedding dress for and is this have anything to do with why she like she is.

Kelly you outdid yourself can't wait to see rest

The Butterfly Effect is the perfect start to the Boggy Creek Valley series by author Kelly Elliott!! She is by far the queen of romance series for this reader. The time she puts into each aspect of her books...from the beautiful covers, the development of her stories and characters is just superb. Each book she writes draws me into a new town, a new family and each book leaves leads me into a new world of romance. She proves over and over just why she is my go-to author! The Butterfly Effect is proof why author Kelly Elliott's books just make this readers heart happy!!

Aiden has always had a piece of Willa's heart since they were teens. Being her brothers best friend, those lines were carefully treaded. Time moves on for both Willa and Aiden. Willa marries....Aiden pursues his life as a Navy SEAL. One thing is certain, life lands them both blows that changes them forever.

Willa finds herself utterly heartbroken after the betrayal of her husband and best friend. What else can she do but pick herself up, be the best mom she can be to her one year old son. Aiden fights a battle with demons from his past...those that haunt your thoughts and fears. Even after all the years...the heartache they each have weathered, life isn't done tossing those curves their way. Even after all the years, that pull they have always felt, they've fought still draws them to one another. Betrayal has caused Willa to guard her heart. She can't allow herself or her son to be hurt. Aiden fears his demons won't allow him to be the man Willa needs or deserves. Can Aiden see those demons do not define him? Can Willa let that shield down and open her heart to fully love once again?

Oh. My. Word. These two characters were just beautifully written. How the author took a personal demon many face and poured those feelings out into the pages of this book just left my breathless!! I laughed, cried...cheered these two on with each and every page. She gave me romance, small town life, beautiful supporting characters and a second chance at love with this book. When you finish a book and leaves it smile on your face and a tingle in your heart....you know you've read a great romance!! Kudos Kelly Elliott...you've once again made this readers heart sing with The Butterfly Effect!!!

This is a totally new series that is as ever most enjoyable. Aiden a war veteran who has grown up in Boggy creek returns from a long service in the Seals. Service to his country has left its toll. Willa also returns to Boggy creek but a while sooner, following her divorce, with her one year old son Ben. Brian, Willa’s ex husband was less than faithful being caught in bed with her best friend Ella. The story unfolds, and is full of emotions, heart ache and traumatic experiences. The main subject topic is sensitively described, and high lights the reader to its many fascists PTSD can effect any traumatic experience, and is only really beginning to be fully accepted and talked about with an empathetic and sympathetic attitude. The characters are so alive, and I hope many of the characters have a chance to come more alive in future books in this series. A very easy enjoyable read. Full of family dynamics, delightful interactions and tender moments. Well written and edited. Flows well and follows on. I can’t wait for Greer’s, Hunter, Bree and other books as their characters develope and we hopefully learn more about Aiden, Willa and possibly Ben.

This was a book filled with angst, sweetness, great banter and comfort moments. Willa and Aiden’s journey to get to each other took a long time but it was so worth it.

Willa is a newly divorced, single mum who runs the family orchard. She’s been in love with Aiden her entire life - he’s also her brother Hunter’s best friend (one of my favourite tropes).

Aiden is a retired SEAL officer who is trying to adjust to his new normal - and what he wants most is Willa. But can he give his heart to Willa and Ben? Can he assimilate to normal life?

This book was a sweet opening to a series that I will definitely be continuing. I need to read more of Bree - she was one of my favourite characters.
