Mrs Capper's Christmas: Mrs Capper’s Casebooks Book 1 (Mrs Capper's Casebook) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 267 ratings

Is it an armed robbery or a terrorist incident? Either way it’s making ex-police officer turned blogger, vlogger, and private investigator, Christine Capper late for an appointment at Haxford public library.

Her former colleagues don’t seem to be making much headway in the search for the town’s infrequent serial killer the Graveyard Poisoner. Not that it has any bearing on Christine’s work, but she’s, well, simply nosy.

With three murders to follow, a vandalised spy camera, library books missing, one of her favourite shopkeepers hospitalised, an automobile obsessed husband, and a lazy cat, Christine is getting nowhere fast, and to compound matters, she keeps forgetting to festoon her wall clock with Christmas decorations. It’s all part of… Mrs Capper’s Christmas.

The first in a brand new series of light-hearted mysteries from the creator of the Sanford 3rd Age Club Mysteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real treat

A terrific start to a new series. Enjoyed everything about this, the characters and small town setting, wry humour - and a great mystery, as always. Christine Capper is an engaging sleuth and David Robinson writes very believable women's thoughts. No surprise as Sheila and Brenda - in his STAC mysteries - are brilliant. Looking forward to the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Cozy Murder Mystery

This book might not feature the residents of Sanford, but Haxford has a similar familiar feel.
The crime might not involve Joe ... but Christine Capper opens up new possibilities for David W Robinson to explore and in this book his new sleuth, Housewife, mother, Vloger, ex-cop and PI Christine Capper, pushes her way into many places DWR's previous heroes would not be able to go.
    A great new series!

A great read. Loved the characters, the husband , the cat,. I could picture the scenes as the author was describing them. I felt as if I was right there, looking over Mrs Capper's shoulder and helping her to make sense of the clues.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very entertaining read

An enjoyable story with characters that you like. Christine Capper, private eye, and her husband, car mad Dennis are a couple that will no doubt become very familiar as I read the others in this series. Christine has been asked by the librarian to see if she can find out who is pilfering expensive books from the library. On her way to the appointment, there is a full-on traffic jam, the result of what appeared to be a gunshot in a local 'bargain' shop. And someone is poisoning elderly folk and very considerately depositing them in graveyards. Christine is indeed going to investigate the missing books, but somehow gets involved in the other things too. I was greatly entertained by this story - and rather proud of myself for working out who was the murderer, although there were some surprises along the way. I'm looking forward to reading more about Christine Capper.
