4.4 out of 5 stars 768 ratings

Lift. Eat. Sleep. Repeat.

Qualifying to compete on a national level is all that’s on power lifter Dagen Rourke’s mind. After an injury sidelined him the previous year, his only goal has been to overcome the physical challenges and mental demons to get back in the game. Falling into bed with the new artist at his brother’s tattoo shop was never part of his training schedule. Now he has to find a balance between the time he wants to give Ollie and the brutal training for what could be the most important competition of his life.

Run. Tattoo. Doze. Keep going.

Oliver Vos jumps at the chance to work at Vidar Rourke’s award-winning tattoo shop, Open Wounds. Getting out from under a nasty mentor and making it on his own is all Ollie has dreamed of for years. Unbeknownst to him, the room Vidar offers to rent him until he’s back on his feet would have him sharing space with tempting gentle giant, Dagen. Living together is an adjustment, and when the heat between them morphs into something more will old insecurities and new tests drag them apart? Or will they find a way to carry the weight of their burdens…together?

4.5 stars for this fabulous debut!!
Carry and Drag by Michelle Frost was such a pleasant surprise. I was looking for a quick read, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I am so happy I did. This lady can write. It is third person, which some times I have an issue with but she did a great job with it. I followed along effortlessly. I loved each and every character. I found the plot fun and endearing....
It revolves around a Tattoo shop, a gym and a great bunch of guys! The timid Tattoo artist, Oliver Vos and The Compassionate Strongman, Dagen Rourke. Along with Dagen's 3 spirited brothers, Vidar, Magnus and Harbor.....(All of which will be getting their own books! Woo hoo!)

Dagen is the gentlest, yet biggest one of the bunch. He is recovering from an injury and trying to make a name for himself in the Strongman competition world. This gentle giant prefers the solidarity of his home curled up with a good book rather then going to loud clubs. (He is the sweetest!) When he gets an impromptu roommate, he is not pleased, that is until he meets the gorgeous, but troubled Tattoo artist, Oliver ... His physical attraction is evident, although the man is skiddish and closed off. Dagen becomes even more invested and protective of Ollie when he gets some information into his past.... Ollie is running from that past in search of a new beginning. He has major trust issues, but patient and oh so sweet Dagen is slowly knocking down his walls.
I loved these boys. Their relationship took it's time developing by building trust. Becoming friends first, while hiding their obvious connection....

For a novella, it was well paced and nothing felt rushed. I do however wish Dagen and Ollie's story was longer. There was so much potential to make it a full size novel, but with the way it ended, I am sure I will be seeing more of them in the rest of the series.

The secondary characters that I met along the way were full of personality and storyline. Michelle gave me just enough about all of them to have me completely intrigued and needing more. This novella is jam packed with layers. I can not wait to get all the guys full stories.

I love Michelle Frosts books, but I had yet to dive into this series. With the upcoming release of a new book, I decided to take the plunge. And I have only 1 question to ask: why did I wait sooo long?!

Seriously this book was amazing and it was hard to put down. Gentle giant, protectiveness and a Lil surprise.

Highly recommend if you haven't dived in yet.

I feel conflicted bc this WAS well written and a good story so I want to give it 4 stars. The problem is that I was left feeling like there were some emotional gaps that, I as a reader, wanted filled.

It made the story feel a little superficial and didn’t give me a feeling of resolution at the end even though there was a HFN ending.

4.5 stars only because I reserve 5 stars for spectacular, one-of-a-kind books.
For Carry and Drag, Just WoW! I had no idea what to expect, initially just thinking that I simply had missed this author before now because it seems illogical that this is her FIRST NOVEL!

I wasn't sure that I would like the story until page 4...yes, page 4 and from that point on, I was captured. A strong man, a powerlifter who recognizes something, some level of need and pain in the new tattoo artist brought in to the fold by his older brother. Ollie, the new tattoo artist, has secrets, it is easy to see and the story of Ollie finding his way, his level of trust and self-confidence is heart-warming, sweet and spicy at the same time.

Things don't go smoothly and there is a bit of suspense that you can almost feel is coming. The main characters are both endearing and although very different, seem to fit like a tightly cut puzzle. I think the best part is the secondary characters who are also realistic and engaging. I'm excited about the potential for stories about the other guys, Dagen's brothers, Niko and Rory. It is difficult to believe that this a debut novel! There seems to be so much good reading ahead!

Gained new knowledge of a sport I've seen but never knew the rules of. I really enjoyed the meeting of the art of tattooing with the art of competition strongman training. A very unique setting and great MC's! Don't miss it!

I have never read a Frost book before and I knew this series was new because no one ahead completed a review but I took a chance. I’m so glad I did because I loved it! Dagen and Ollie’s story kept me riveted to this book. The introduction of all the other brothers and family friends was a great start and I didn’t feel like it was rushed or pushed on me. You to laugh and feel a little angst while thoroughly enjoy how their love blossoms even if it is quickly. I even loved how we get a little rush of adrenaline but I will not say how because it will spoil the beautiful story. I just want to say I’m so happy to found another MM author that gives me what I like in a story to keep me coming back for more, I’ll definitely be following this author!!!

Loved Dagen and Ollie! Loved their dynamics and the fierce protectivness Dagen has towards Ollie from the moment they first meet.

5.0 out of 5 stars The sexual tension is off the charts.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 23, 2018
The sexual tension is off the charts. This story had me gripped from the very beginning. I have had the pleasure of reading something completely new, I’ve never read anything about tattooist’s or powerlifting in a story until now. It was very uplifting (HA! I just made a pun) I could have quite easily said that I meant that. Anyways moving on, doesn’t take much for me to get side tracked, but once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. I was dreading reading ‘THE END’

Dagen Rourke, just one of the Rourke’s brother’s, God I can’t wait to hear about this family, is fighting fit ready to enter his next competition, this man is built like a brick house. Solid in more ways than one.

Dagen’s character was like a magnet to me, I fell in love instantly. He’s super sweet yet so strong, what’s not to like? Sadly he is gay so my chances of a hook up are nil pois, try to forget he’s just a magnificent fictional man, I did, still do apparently. Well, no one can say I’m not passionate when I fall in love I fall hard. Fictional or not.

Ollie is a man in need of some serious TLC. He is so nice, and deserves happiness in his life. He certainly didn’t expect to end up where he did, but it’s a good move. He might have only been working at, Open Wounds for a short time, but everyone there looks out for each other. I sense tension between a couple of characters, and I am eager to know more.

Ollie and Dagen might not follow any typical dating rules, but who cares? Love is love wherever it is found, and no matter how quick. Dagen should know by now only the strongest survive.

Michelle Frost a thousand thank you’s for introducing me to a whole new world. I’ll be following this series like my life depended on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start to the series
Reviewed in Australia on July 13, 2019
What a great start to the series! The worldbuilding was well done, and the characters beautifully created and detailed. The alternating POV really hoped you get to know both Dagen and Ollie, and see their fears and insecurities first hand.

The storyline was well developed, intriguing and flowed well. I loved that we got some details about Dagen's comps and the regiment of his training. I would have loved more insight into Ollie's tattooing though, especially about how it made him feel - that was missed, which stood out when we got those details from Dagen.

Can't wait to read more in the series and see what the other brothers get up to - I'm already quite invested in these brothers, which is an impressive feat from a first book in a series.
