My besties consist of a twisted supernatural version of the golden girls plus one surly vampire. I always feel like I’m on the peripheral looking in but this job can change that all.

But nothing is ever as it seems and my dream job has turned into a nightmare.

My new boss has tasked with leading the search for his soulmate that’s been missing for nearly a year. I knew nothing about soulmates. I didn’t have one, I didn’t want one, and this one definitely isn’t mine. Yet it’s up to me to find her and I only have two weeks or my dreams are dust in the wind. To make matters worse, my new boss is the gorgeous, reformed rake of a prince Mateo Vauntero who seems to hate me for absolutely no reason and refuses to help me at all. He wants me to fail. He wants an excuse to fire me. Every interaction is a verbal sword fight. With Mateo, it’s two steps forward and two steps back.

And while I have no idea what I did to get on the prince’s bad side, I’m not going down without a fight. The future I’d always dreamed of is in my grip…he’s going to have to pry it from my hands.

    If you want forced proximity and enemies to lovers, then do I have the book for you. Not only is our FMC given an impossible task to accomplish to obtain her dream job, but her new boss also seems to absolutely hate her. On the flip side our MMC wants to find his elusive soulmate after years of being a playboy on and off Megelle Island. He has sworn himself to be good since getting his soulmate mark, but his new assistant is his type, and he hates that he wants her when his soulmate is so close.

    I loved the dynamic between Mateo and Collette especially as she taught him an important lesson in boundaries in her work life balance. I always love the cameos from the previous books in Halloween and Christmas marked. After seeing more of our grumpy ancient vampire this book as one of Collette’s close friends i really hope he gets his own book soon.

    I could not put this book down and I finished it in 24 hours it was so good. It will be on my reread list for next Halloween season.

I am always amazed how these two can interweave the characters and the interactions within the series. It gives the reader "Ah-ha" moments.

    I cannot wait to read what the Mistresses of Night Realm conjure up next.
