Packed with witty banter, explosive chemistry and moments that had me swooning & next minute gasping out loud!

Be prepared to kiss you husband and kids goodnight, set yourself up with some drinks and snacks and buckle up for a late night because once you start Jill and Cam's story you won't want to put it down. I'm rocking a book hangover today but it's totally worth it.

You don't have to read One Hot Night before diving into Cam and Jill's story, but why not! It's the basis for the start of their relationship in Caught In The Lies and it's hot 🔥🔥🔥 Jill is young, Cam not so much. Regardless, both have secrets and scars they are too vulnerable to share with each other. They completely feed off one another and while their connection is complete fire, they start to click on an emotional level too. Unfortunately Jill is in complete denial about how Cam makes her feel, but it's real on every level. She's scared. And even though Cam has more life experience, he's just as nervous about what Jill makes him feel. They both try to play their relationship off as nothing more than fun, but Cam soon realizes it's so much more. I really loved Cam, he was patient with Jill even when he didn't want to be. Heck I didn't want to be patient with her. But I knew it would take time for her to come to her senses and when she did, it was two pieces of a puzzle coming together. Sweet, swoony and sexy banter was part of this enjoyable journey. Jill's friends were pretty awesome too. They really added a nice touch to this firey romance.

    Why am I such a sucker for firefighters? Well to be fair it’s firefighters, cops, and military; I guess I’m just a girl who loves a guy in uniform. Anyway, I read a previous book by this author, and while I liked it, I thought it was really busy, so when I saw another book was being released, I was interested but unsure, but the synopsis and cover hooked me, add in KU and I was sold.
    So Jill and Cam are already together when this book starts, so you kind of miss out on the build up, I mean they have been on and off for almost a year when the book starts. I really thought that would bum me out, I thought I was going to miss out on the angst, but their relationship is at a crossroads (even though neither of them is willing to admit it). They have a very clearly defined friends with benefits relationship, and it’s not a secret to anyone. They both are harboring secrets, some bigger than others (I won’t ruin it for you, but dang someone should have been way more upfront and there would have been a lot less misunderstanding).
    Jill clearly has serious hang ups about letting anyone fully into her heart, and Cam is aware of this, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting a future with her, complete with all the trimmings. There is plenty of angst in this book, and a lot of hot scenes steaming up the pages, because these two had serious chemistry. There is a kind of subplot about workplace harassment that I wish was a little more fleshed out, particularly at the end, it felt like it was wrapped up in like two paragraphs. Other than that I have no complaints and I really enjoyed this book. I’m looking forward to the third girlfriend in the group getting her own book.

    I was fully vested in the first few chapters of this book. Then it became very boring, and Jill seemed to get more whiny. It took more than 1/2 of the book for me to feel Cam & Jill's connection. The sexual connection was always there, but it took until I was almost done with the book before I felt any other connection between them. I loved the twist with Cam. I would have loved for that to be more a part of the book. Overall, this book was okay. The writing and editing was good.
