This was a cute story. Every so often I'll throw in either a romance or a cozy mystery into my batch. (something predictable). I tend to find I typically end up with questions/comments about the story, ie, it not making sense in some way. That wasn't the case here, thankfully. Had I simply read this book, I would have given it 5 stars. Because I listened to the audiobook version, unfortunately, it's only getting 4 stars. Why? When reading dialogue, it doesn't always pop out has being/sounding robotic when you read it in your head, whereas, hearing it out loud... well it's another thing. That was the problem here-robotic dialogue.

Another issue involved the narrator. I don't know how she was "doing her thing" but most of the sentences had her voice getting quieter/lowering, sometimes cutting off part of the final word of the sentence. It's like she had her finger hovering over the stop or pause bottom on her recording device, but was hitting it too soon. It was annoying. In the beginning, I was so tempted to just stop listening, but the story was cute, so I continued. Her actual narrating skills were pretty good though. She had a variety of character voices to add to the story.

Hard to follow the dialogue when both speakers are in the same paragraph and without proper punctuation. Storyline was ok.

What a light and relaxing read. I enjoyed the journey of the main character as she "made" her way through life. Sometimes you just want to get lost in the lives of others. I look forward to the release of Angie Ellington's next book, Autumn at Apple Hill.

Home is where the heart is. I enjoyed reading about Mason and Lacey. They both had much personal growth from going in separate directions as kids and seeing each other a decade later. Life is unexpected, but usually for the best.
