About the author

K.M. Neuhold is a complete romance junkie. bisexual and polyamorous, she often describes herself as being in love with love. She loves to write stories full of bearded, cinnamon roll men who get super swoony HEAs. Her philosophy is there’s so much angst and sadness for LGBT characters in media, all she wants is to give them the happiest happily ever afters she can with little angst, tons of humor, and SO MUCH STEAM. K.M. fully admits to her tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory that will likely always lead to every book turning into a series or spin-off. When she's not writing she's a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero...just kidding, she's likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her huskies while her amazing husband brings her coffee.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2022I loved this concept and how perhaps one person's heart when in another person could be connected.
I loved how when they met, they fell for each other so deeply.
The one thing I did not like was the lie and particularly the length of it. EASTON is lucky River was willing to forgive and love still.
I am also still wondering a bit about Fox. I think Fox had developed feelings in those 5 years and was so hurt to even be asked to find the heart holder. Then once Easton and River shared their love, it broke his heart. Easton thought Fox was upset about first loneliness, than the lie. He said to River Oh he is Paul's friend. Well then he changed that when he realized that the only person, the only friend who continues to be there for him 5 years later is Fox.
So yes, the story was about a beautiful love story but I also think it is about a love missed when it is right in front of you. A love of someone who supports you through everything. So the story was not about Fox but it could have been or one of River's sexy graphic novels could have written something. Maybe even a threesome?
My ideas went off here but I really did enjoy the love between River and Easton! Highly recommended!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2021Easton is drowning in grief for his dead husband, he decides to meet River, who was a recipient of Easton‘s husband donated heart and the plot thickens. Good storytelling, interesting MCs, and an intriguing premise. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this read as to when the other shoe would drop or when the cat jumped out of the bag. Which is good writing, I was invested in the story. However, I’m sorry to say that the weeping Easton was a bit annoying after a while (like five years, while). I also think Fox was a saint and Easton took him for granted. With that said, I would be interested in reading a Fox & Brandon tale. A damn good yarn!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2019The premise of this story was so unique that it made me pick it up. Easton lost his husband Paul to an accident and Paul's heart was donated to another man in need. Years later Easton tracked down the man who received Paul's heart supposedly to see if he "was worthy". There is not a time limit to grief; everyone needs to work through it on their own timeline. However, even Easton, at this point was frustrated with himself in his inability to let his perpetual memories of his and Paul's time together stop him from moving on with his life.
This story takes a very unique turn after Easton finds out that River is the recipient of Paul's heart and Easton watches River from nearby a few times. One time they accidentally meet, and inadvertently begin a relationship. Then the author tells the rest of this incredible story. There are numerous singular crying sessions as well as some together as a couple ones along with many, many wonderful times discovering and rediscovering activities that both men had forgotten or taken for granted. Some friends intrude but primarily this is the awakening of a love between two men who are realizing how to live in love! There definitely is a HEA, which came along with significant angst and I used quite a few tissues for both sad and happy tears...
This book was well worth the loss of sleep one night because I couldn't stop until I found out the final resolution which was not a sure thing until the very end. Thank you, Ms Neuhold, for such a fabulous tale!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2021This book made me ugly cry! As a hurt/comfort book, this one packs a wallop but it is sooooo good. It is worth the read! Easton stopped living when his husband died, just going through the motions. River found a new appreciation for life when a stranger’s heart save his life. Easton knows who River is, but a chance meeting has him getting to know the man who is walking around with his late husband’s heart. Have the tissues ready when you read this one but it will also make you smile. The ending is worth it!

I haven't cried while reading a book since I read Our Thing by Nicci Harris. This book WRECKED ME. I cried from beginning to end. My heart still hurts when I think about this couple.
Easton lost his husband due to an on-the-job injury and had to make the incredibly hard decision to allow his heart to be donated to someone who needed it. And, of course, he and the donor recipient meet.
THE FEELS. I ALMOST COULDN'T TAKE IT.
I absolutely LOVED this book. Have tissues on hand because you'll need them.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2024I have bought everything from this author, but this one was just too much! They were constantly crying and being teenage style overly emotional. And the mumbo-jumbo about the heart missing the former husband was just plain stupid.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2020This book was pretty good. It wasn’t the tear jerker I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong, it was definitely sad and should’ve made me cry like a baby, but for some reason I didn’t. It was good and touched my heart, but I didn’t feel the emotional pull. Maybe I was just having an off day and wasn’t feeling it.
I would recommend this book. Like I said maybe it was just me.

5.0 out of 5 stars From tragedy comes hope.
A beautiful, emotional story of love and loss, hope and new beginnings. Tragedy rocks Easton's world and he finds he has little to live for anymore, all the joy died with his husband. Easton wants to know if the man who received his husband's heart is worthy, what he didn't expect was to meet River. River brings life and love back into Easton, but can this budding new relationship survive when River finally discovers who his heart donor was? A beautiful and highly emotional story. I could feel the emotion and feelings leap out and wrap around my own heart.

Redelijk dik boek, goed geschreven en gevoelig. Fijne karakters, beetje voorspelbaar maar fijn om te lezen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a beautiful story...
Amazing, heart-achingly beautiful. Neuhold delivers an emotional, sweet, love story that shows how life can surprise you in the worst way and then make up for it in ways you could never imagine. River and Easton are beautiful inside out. I loved how the experiences they lived together were described in colors. Neuhold has a way with words that's unique. On another of her books, she presented feelings as sound. Now as color. Truly amazing. 5stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A story of love, loss, heartbreak and finding love again
I love all of KM Neuhold’s writing, so I knew change of heart would be no different. Based on the blurb I expected tears...and oh my goodness I wasn’t wrong. Change of Heart had me sobbing in multiple places.
Easton lost his husband 5 years ago, and following his husband’s wishes donated his heart to save the life of a stranger. He’s lived in limbo for the last 5 years, devastated at the loss of Paul. To try to move on, he gets his friend to track down River - the man who got Paul’s heart, to make sure he’s worthy of the gift. This starts a rollercoaster of adventure, love and the introduction of colour back into Easton’s life.
River had a heart transplant 5 years ago to save his life, lucky to get the chance of a donor against all odds or he’d have been dead within weeks. Since then he’s had periods of melancholia...until one day when a stranger saves his life and starts something River never thought he would have.
I loved both characters beyond reason. Easton was so broken hearted at the loss of his love that he made me cry. Experiencing him moving on was heartbreaking in a cathartic way. River was so apprehensive at something he had never experienced before that feeling this with him was heart and soul warming. I felt so invested in their relationship that I couldn’t put my kindle down. I needed to know how everything progressed and I wasn’t taking a break until I got there. The ending was beyond anything that I could have asked for...and yet again there were tears (I think every time Easton cried I might have too!).
An ugly cry story that was life and soul affirming, told by a storyteller with a gift that gets more magical with each book they write. I cannot recommend this book more for the rollercoaster of emotion that it took me on across it’s pages.
