Changed: A Gay Urban Fantasy Novel (Graveyard Shift Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 29 ratings

It really is hard to kill what’s already dead.

With Halloween over, Jesse and Cooper want nothing more than to return to normal life, but their problems are far from over. The elder they fought so hard to stop wasn’t adequately destroyed; worse, it’s
missing, and remains a threat to them all. The news being delivered by an angry vampire hellbent on finishing the job that Franklin failed to doesn’t help much, either. With some suspicion-inducing help from Franklin and the promise of Jesse’s “special connection,” the pair manage to negotiate a deal: they’ll help find and stop the elder, once and for all. At least this time around, they have some idea what they’re dealing with. Or so they think, only to slowly uncover something much deeper, much darker than anything any of them expected, something even the vampires can’t begin to understand, something that’s going to change everything – not least of all Jesse and Cooper themselves.

The book is a fu. Read. We are introduced to Willem an older vampire who appears to be more traditional vampire. Franklin is more evolved in this book and becomes in my mind more sympathetic. Perhaps we'll learn more in the next book on his history.

Jess and Cooper definitely are exploring their relationship. There is so many developments which I wont spoil for the reader.

Overall, the book is a faster paced read than the first book. Definitely recommended if you like vampires in a modern urban setting.

My only complaint was the lack of a glossary for the police codes. The author is british ao american readers don't know what ic1, ice3, etc. means.

I sometimes have the issue where the first book gave all the great reveals and the 2nd book is left coasting through just some relashionship drama... this was not that book. This Author really has a knack for introducing you to a character and then letting them grow past your initial first impression. This forms a dynamic cast and interesting plot twists you just can’t predict. A budding relashionship, a couple unforeseen threats and the internal conflict of possibility becoming a person you never wanted to be in the name of survival.
OMG I was thrilled! Franklin especially was a sweet surprise and I want to give the author a round of applause. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
