Chasing Fate: A Secret Relationship Male/Male Romance (The Chasing Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 88 ratings

Chris:

I’ve always wanted to be a writer covering LGBTQ+ affairs. As a member of the queer community, our issues don’t get enough press and I see it as my job to shine a light on the many amazing things we’ve achieved. To help me out, my dad sets me up with an internship at his best friend’s company, which is a place that puts out a weekly newsmagazine. It’s perfect because I can use this opportunity to write about gay-centric issues to my heart’s content. But the problem is that the boss doesn’t necessarily see it that way. Dane, my dad’s friend, is handsome, forbidding, and dare I say it?
A little scary. He’s used to giving orders, taking risks, and making money hand over fist. Despite being gay himself, he doesn’t want me to use his paper as a platform for our community because he says quote-unquote: “It won’t sell.” Since when has everything become about money? Have we, as a society, lost our moral compass? Even more important, how can I change his mind? On the one hand, sparks fly whenever Dane and I clash. But on the other, can I really be with a man who won’t stand up for the cause closest to my heart?

Dane:

I took on Chris as an intern as a favor to my oldest friend. After Nick begged, cajoled, and pleaded, I agreed on a three-month summer internship for his son. With an emphasis on
temporary. Chris and I weren’t even supposed to cross paths because as the boss, I don’t really interact with newbie reporters. Yet the moment he walked into my office, I knew that Chris was going to be trouble. The young man is lively, forceful, and hell-bent on writing stories that highlight the achievements of the gay community. Of course I support him, at least on some level. After all, I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, and proud of the discrimination we’ve overcome, not to mention the acceptance we’ve achieved. As a result, I have nothing against his ideas per se, except that they won’t sell very many papers. Does that make sense? As a player in capitalist society, we have to market our wares in order to survive. But why can’t Chris understand my point of view? Sure, everyone knows that the publishing industry is in jeopardy and facing a sea change in terms of how we do business. But how can I make the young man see this? How can I help him understand that the world is more complicated than it appears, and that sometimes, we work for many masters and wear many hats simultaneously? Most importantly, how can I convince Chris that I’m worthy of his love when his commitment to LGBTQ causes may outweigh his affection for me?

This book made me happy ! It’s well written, fascinating, sexy, and heartwarming.
Dane, 45, a hot shot publisher, has his Mom, who is ill. Chris, 21, a college journalism intern, has his Dad, Nick, a successful Chef, plus his roommate, model, Trace. Chris will be at the publishing house for the summer. We get just enough tension, lots of delights, and a strong feeling of love and commitment.
Our solid businessman and our intern are intensely attracted. Nick is Dane’s longtime friend. Dane’s Mom, Giovanna has been ill, and Chris develops a short stint at insecurity, but it’s unfounded. Our hearts are on the fiercely passionate pair.
We are ecstatic with them, and we see their pleasure, reverence, carnal need, erotic sexy times, in addition to the bliss, craziness, and blushing moments.
    Romance lovers will be thrilled.
    Enjoy !

The blurb and first quarter of this book had me totally hooked but man did it go downhill. After Dane and Chris kisses the first time it was like both their personalities completely changed. There was no lead up or emotional journey it went from lonely closed off CEO to a man who wanted to spend the rest of his life with a guy who he had spent probably 30 minutes with in the last 10 years. I also had a really hard time with the passage of time, it really made no sense and jumped all over the place with no explanation. However beyond everything else I was SO disappointed in Chris at the end. After WEEEKS of silence after Dane blew him off completely for their going away date all it takes is a confession of love over the phone that’s not even Dane reaching out Chris????? Made no sense at all. Have some self respect Chris.

Dane and Nick have been best friends forever, and when Nick’s son Chris is looking for a internship, Dane agrees to hiring him for his company. Now that Chris is all grown up, and is attracted to Dane, will these two be able to resist their undeniable chemistry? This is a well written story which had me hooked and intrigued throughout. I recommend for all lovers of M/M romances.

Not believable. First of the m/m books that wasn’t believable. Not up to same standard as other m/m books. Poorly written

I found this to be a very good read. This M/M Father's best friend/workplace romance was backed by a story that not only felt timely but was also very engaging. I enjoyed the attraction, chemistry and emotions that Chris and Dane generated. I thought the story was very interesting and that it forced you to think about what you would do if you were in their situation. Lots of tension, sparks, emotional turmoil and poignancy help to grab and hold your attention. In my opinion this was a very good read. This is my honest, voluntary review.
