Cherished by the Hunter: A Post-Apocalyptic Alien Romance (Xarc'n Warriors Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,696 ratings

EVIE
Prince Charming comes in purple!
I’ve been looking for my Prince Charming my entire life. When ravenous, human-eating bugs descend from the skies, I think my dream is doomed—until a musclebound Xarc’n hunter rescues me from certain death. Tarv’k is strong and brave, and the purring in his chest turns my knees to jelly.
Too bad he’s pretending not to be interested. I might be small and soft-spoken, but I’m also stubborn; I get what I want. He won’t know what hit him!

TARV’K
Evie is everything I ever wanted, but I don’t deserve her. She is the ray of sunshine that keeps our compound going. She deserves a younger hunter, one with fewer failures in his past. But despite my best intentions, I cannot let her go. If I cannot claim her, then I vow to be her ultimate protector.
When Evie’s past returns to haunt her, I am determined to keep her safe. No one messes with my female! We may not have a mating bond yet, but she is still MINE!

Evie and Tarv’k’s story is a complete romance with a HEA, but should be read as part of a series.

I fell in love with these books. You have the struggle to survive and then the love and romance. The way the warriors take care of their humans is what every woman wants. But rarely gets. I would recommend starting with book one and then watch out. You'll be hooked. I just wish that all the books 9-12 were in paperback. But I have Kindle so at least I can read them all.

Evie is so sweet and crushing on the oldest hunter in the bunch. He's noble enough to wish a "better"/younger hunter for her... But can he do it when she makes life beyond fighting the scourge more interesting? Evie can be stubborn, too, mister! Bonus, we meet new hunters, a bad crew and a bevy of human females in need of rescue. More books in the wings!

Why do all males alien and humans know what's best for the females? I am glad Evie didn't let him actually get a choice.

I keep going for the overall storyline if anything. Seeing how the compound is developing, how the non Xarc’n friendly humans have fallen and overall seeing the defeat of the scourge on the horizon. Evie was a little juvenile, I know she is the youngest woman, but my fourteen year old niece acts more mature than she does. I get the whole no cursing thing, that’s not really an issue. But when it’s the literal apocalypse and your still hung up on Disney that’s a problem. I liked Gerald and Lenas relationship, it was cute how proud he was of her for attempting to escape on her own, made me smile. Wish there was more of Stacey and Jack as well as the other couples. There seems to be a focus on Natalie and her mate compared to everyone else, hardly ever hear about Alice. Overall I enjoyed it and will continue on to see what happens to humanity. If you like science fiction romance then I do recommend reading, just don’t expect to find your new favorite book.

This is a story about a young human woman who has her sights set for an older alien hunter. They live companionably for months until Eve decides she is ready to make the first move. The alien is worried he is to old to mate but he soon learns that Eve is worth the effort. He also learns quite a bit about himself as well. Well worth reading.

The story flowed, had real relationship issues and struggles of communication.

The drama was not intrusive and flowed well. Added to the story and wrapped up some of previous books drama.

Still wish they had the humans that were friendly with them, spread the word of the truth.
The glaring lack of use of the radio show, and possibility of the internet being used to show podcasts is glaring. As well communicate how to kill, etc the bugs with other communities, countries. Via the main ships.

Last issue I see is the way they go after the “bugs”. They basically hibernate in winter? So why do the not go after them in tunnels? Why hasn’t a scientist and bug specialist found a way to kill fungus and sterilize the bugs, queens?

We have things that-destroy hard shells of bugs, which end up killing them.

So many logical things that the author can add to story to show the humans and the hunters are turning the tide and will eventually not only win, but stop bugs from leaving to destroy another planet.

They can spread word to other warriors that follow the other ships.

I've been enjoying the series a lot. Evie and Tarv'k are very cute together and I like how couples and characters from other installments stay in the story, especially Tooth the squirrel.
Another refreshing change from a lot of other scifi with alien mates is that human men aren't all portrayed as bad guys.

I brought, own, kept and read as many of the Xarc'n Warrior books as I can find. I was intrigued to find such as series and I was thoroughly surprised at how the story was written. I didn't get absurd aliens, I got well thought out aliens, a great background story and it is totally believable. I've recommended the series to my friends and even though they aren't into science fiction, they read as many as they could get their hands on and have now made alien or science fiction space romances part of their reading lot. You get enough background story to know why they are where they are, and apart from not being human, they are human like. If you've never read a series involving non humans, give this one a go, you'll be quickly absorbed into their world and won't want it to end. Each story has the same spine, but twirls outward from there, making each story individual. The physical interaction scenes are well thought out, well written and a lot of my friends want their own warrior. Not a leave them at the bedroom door romance, but not a romance based around just the physical interaction. If the individual stories don't drag you in, the warriors and their firey Human females will. A realistic future. A great portal to start your introduction to science fiction in general and a wonderful place for a very different romance. Highly recommended. Definitely a series that will be forever in my collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Long awaited Xarc' n warrior for Evie
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 2, 2021
Well Evie had to assert herself to get Tarv'k 's attention as he was under the deluded idea that he was too old for her. But the heart wants what the heart wants and Evie's wanted Tarv'k. And no one including Tarv'k himself could stop this woman on a mission. Great read! Watch how she accomplishes her mission but all is not plain sailing as shadows from Evie's past come back to haunt her.. To divert her from her mission but Tarv'k has his own nightmares which will only go if he van have the woman of his dreams --Evie! Read and see how this story resolvs itself!! Great Story!!
