The Christmas Deal (Festive Fakes Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,878 ratings

Will fake boyfriends become the real deal this holiday?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year—except ex-Marine Logan is jobless and getting evicted. Worse, he’s a new single dad with a stepson who hates him. A kid needs stability—not to mention presents under the tree—and Logan’s desperate.

Then he meets lonely Seth and makes a deal.

Can Logan temporarily pretend to be live-in boyfriends to increase Seth’s chances at a promotion? If it provides a roof over their heads for the holidays, hell yeah. Logan considers himself straight—he doesn’t count occasional hookups with guys—but he can fake it. Besides, with his shy little smile, Seth is surprisingly sexy.

Make that
damn sexy.

Shocked that Seth has only been with one man, Logan can’t resist sweetening their deal to teach him the joys of casual sex. No strings attached. No feelings. No kissing.

No falling for each other.

Easy, right?

The Christmas Deal by Keira Andrews is a steamy gay Christmas romance featuring fake boyfriends, bisexual awakening, a clueless single dad with an angry preteen, and of course a happy ending.

"Yes, this is another fake boyfriend/fiance story, and it's OH, SO GOOD: poignant, gentle, sensual, with a touch of hurt-comfort." ~ My Fiction Nook

"Looking for a fun and sweet holiday romance with dual POV, some heat, a humorous
caper, and a wonderful HEA ending? Look no further!" ~ Gay Book Reviews

"I've read some absolutely smashing Christmas books so far this year and now Keira's is currently sitting at the top of the tree.... It had absolutely the right mix of festive cheer and sharp pain to stop it ever becoming overly cloying."

I loved, loved Logan and Seth opposites attract, bi-awakening fake relationship holiday tale. This is a heartwarming, hilarious and steamy romance full of lovable and relatable characters. It will give you all the swoony swoons while also pulling at your heartstrings with all the emotions. After he was severally hurt on the job, Logan’s life sort of imploded. Now he is a widowed, unemployed, about to be evicted single dad. Seth works with Logan’s sister, Jenna, at a company that was recently acquired. Their new CEO is very family friendly and Seth worries his lack of one will hurt his chances at getting the promotion he deserves. A photograph and a small lie by Seth and Jenna results in a fake engagement between Logan and Seth as they fast track the journey to their HEA. The path to get to their HEA is so painfully beautiful and adorkable. You will feel all the things along the way - expect to laugh, to cry, to swoon, to grit your teeth, to roll your eyes, to gasp, and to cheer. Connor, Logan’s stepson was a wonderful and integral addition to the story rather than a flimsy story prop. The story would not have been as rich and well rounded without the full development and inclusion of his character. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, choices, awkwardness, and all the heart squeezing love. I love this little family and will be reading more in this series. 4.5 stars.

This is a sweet story, not just of two people falling in love, but of the creation of a family. Seth and Logan are such beautifully complicated men. Seth with his repressed, homophobic religious background, coupled with a bad break up, and having been disowned by his family makes for a charmingly straight-laced guy who’s less straight-laced on the inside. And Logan for whom everything has been going wrong. He’s so down on himself. And he’s denied his bisexuality for so long that even as he becomes more and more attracted to and falls more and more in love with Seth, he struggles with the idea that he could feel romantic feelings for a man. And he wants so badly to be a good father to his stepson, but he has internalized this idea of himself as a failure so much that he can’t see how to do it.

I like how even while feeling deep sympathy for Connor, Logan’s stepson, Seth feels protective of Logan when Connor verbally abuses him. And as Seth starts to recognize how much of Connor’s anger is a mask for fear of being hurt again, Seth’s able to gently give Logan advice and help him see it’s not too late to make a connection.

The side characters are wonderful too. Logan’s sister Jenna is interfering and caring and supportive. Angela Barker, the new owner of Seth’s company, is trying so hard to be an ally—sometimes she’s a little cringeworthy—but she’s so realistic in her ability to be supportive and unconsciously stereotyping at the same time. Amazingly, she turns out to be a really good friend to Seth and Logan, despite how superficial it all seems at first.

Slightly spoilery—I love that the epilogue is five years in the future. I always appreciate a good time jump in epilogues. Also, it’s so sweet how touched Logan and Seth are when they find out that Connor refers to them as his dads 😍

If you’re looking for a heartfelt, slightly steamy, holiday, mm romance, this is a good one.

This book suckered me in but in a good way. I was a bit skeptical considering that the fake boyfriend trope often doesn't work that well for me in a story but I should have known better than to doubt Andrews. Logan and Seth both find themselves in situations in which they need help, leading to Jenna's scheme to pass the two off as a couple. Most importantly, the two men become friends, and it helps that Andrews makes this process very believable, letting the men lean on one another and give each other a sympathetic ear. Of course, this being a romance novel, more than a sympathetic ear gets lent, and the two move into friends with benefits - scenes which at times are pretty scorching in their chemistry.

Even though the two MCs start developing feelings for one another rather quickly, it still feels believable, as both of them are dealing with a lot of emotional baggage from incidents that have weighed heavily upon them. The angst works to ground the characters as they learn to trust one another's feelings and learn to navigate the beginnings of a real relationship.

Seth and Logan were both fun characters but credit must be given for an outstanding supporting cast, as well. Jenna, Logan's sister and friend to Seth, in particular shines. Connor, Logan's stepson, is a great character as well, and feels like a real teenager, with all the conflicting emotions accompanying. And Seth's new boss, has several good moments as well, lending some emotional support in surprising ways.

All in all, another success for Andrews. Great read for those willing to put up with a bit of angst to get to the payoff of holiday cheer and their HEA.

I believed this was another Christmas story like we have so many at this time of the year, but no. Keira Andrews still got me. I was in for a simple Christmas story and she delivered a wonderful story of the making off of a real family, with its up and down. Characters are all reel and lovable. Some tears and laugh and we have a story that i will reread with pleasure , Christmas or not 🥰

I adored reading this story! The MCs somehow manage to fit each other even though they are quite different. At the end, both are looking forward for the same thing: to be loved, understood and appreciated. There's a bit of angst at some point but not too much. Really sweet! ❤️

I started to listen to the audio version of this book and hated it. The narrator is usually pretty good but in this case he unfortunately really destroyed the whole vibe. But I saw that it was on kindle unlimited and thought I give it another chance and I’m happy I did! It’s sweet, and little bit angsty, sexy and fun. It takes up real problems, like how to relate to an angry teenager and how to come to terms with your own sexuality. And the crippling depression that often comes with being unemployed. But it made laugh out loud several times so it’s not as angsty as it could be.
