Christmas Riches: An age gap holiday romance Kindle Edition
Christmas comes early for Aiden Malone in the form of a seductive, blue-eyed stranger down on his knees. But a shocking revelation about his new “friend” has him running for the hills and cursing his stupidity before the night is out.
Tom's not prepared to give up that easily. He may be rich where Aiden's poor. Innocent in a way that Aiden isn't. And on the wrong side of twenty. But he's old enough to know what he wants. And that's Aiden. He just needs to persuade the older man to look past his hang-ups about age and wealth.
Lust and prejudice pull Aiden in opposite directions, severely testing his willpower. As Tom's layers begin to peel away, Aiden discovers the younger man's life of privilege may not be all it seems. If Aiden gives in, they could have the sweetest Christmas that either of them has ever tasted. But Tom's about to shatter their joy with a surprise announcement.
Decisions need to be made on both sides. It’s down to Aiden, though, to stay strong and decide whose happiness is more important. His? Or Tom's? Because they can’t have it both ways. It's possible their relationship won't even last as long as it takes for the snow to melt.

About the author

H.L Day grew up in the North of England. As a child she was an avid reader, spending lots of time at the local library or escaping into the imaginary worlds created by the books she read. Her grandmother first introduced her to the genre of romance novels, as a teenager, and all the steamy sex they entailed. Naughty Grandma!
One day, H.L Day stumbled upon the world of m/m romance. She remained content to read other people’s books for a while, before deciding to give it a go herself.
Now, she’s a teacher by day and a writer by night. Actually, that’s not quite true—she’s a teacher by day, procrastinates about writing at night and writes in the school holidays, when she’s not continuing to procrastinate. After all, there’s books to read, places to go, people to see, exercise at the gym to do, films to watch. So many things to do—so few hours to do it in. Every now and again, she musters enough self-discipline to actually get some words onto paper—sometimes they even make sense and are in the right order.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2020This is told totally from Sudan's POV. It works. I was in tears at one point in this story. The final ending was a little rushed. I didn't want to say goodbye to Tom and Aiden. Maybe a short story or novella about Tom's journey with his art and school.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2025I had never read a book by this author before and really enjoyed doing it. I have to say that I have not read any M/M story where the sex occurs on the second page. Usually takes half the book but it progressed along very well. I would recommend this story to any fan of M/M romance books.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2021Spoilers!
I loved the story right up until the end. But a three year separation where they were both sleeping with and dating others is not the HEA I was expecting. Yes, they end up together but the other people thing and long separation were too much for a sweet Christmas romance. I kinda felt cheated and that’s on me and what I like to read… not down to the story itself.
Solid 3 star just no joy for me
- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2019Ok, I did like the book very much! Tom is a lovable guy if young. And Aiden I loved his character, older, mature, stable. They really have a connection that I totally felt in the pages!
The thing i would love to have seen is something from Tom's POV, it was all told by Aidens, and I kinda missed feeling Tom's feelings if that makes sense. Also that scene close to the end, you know when you read it, almost in tears! I was about to message said author and be like "wait just a minute you just made me ugly cry, how could you???!!!" It was a close call. Darn holidays story around the holidays are just the best.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2020A most enjoyable Christmas story, written simply and convincingly by H. L. Day. She has created two principal characters, Aiden and Tom, who will touch you deeply and keep you rooting for them to the last page.
Although the separation for three years with no contact and then resuming the relationship after those years was a bit over the top and even unbelievable, but life can be stranger than fiction. So why not? Tom needed that period of time to pass from adolescence to manhood. He has passed to the same level playing field as his lover Aiden. For that reason, the age difference is so much less important. Because of the separation and the reunion, the ending is truly touching.
The story will stay with you long after finishing the nouvelle. It gives a chance for reflection at Christmas and shows once again that love can overcome all obstacles.
I am looking forward to reading more books by this excellent author. Hats off!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2019I went back and forth with how much I enjoyed this book. Unless I'm reading a YA novel, I don't like most young MC's (under 21). They tend not to have the depth and maturity level needed for a satisfying romance. Tom didn't start out in the best light, showed promise, then acted in a way at the end that would have had me wash my hands of him. Aiden didn't deserve the way things played out and I was disappointed with how easily they came back together. Fortunately, there were enough cute and sweet moments throughout to generally salvage it for me.
3.5 stars, rounded up for Christmas
I voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2019I liked this story all the way until Aiden pushed Tom to go away to school for his own good and that is when I got a little fed up. I liked how Aiden and Tom’s relationship developed and how playful Tom was and determined to keep Aiden in his life. Unfortunately too much of the story was them dancing around each other and apart for me to really get a feel to the solidness of their relationship.
I guess the whole I’m in love with this person but it’s better for them to be somewhere else (and this is from both sides not just one). And then dating other people along the way while you are apparently waiting to come home or for him to come home, yep that’s a line that I don’t like.
I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2022This one had more depth than I was expecting from the blurb. I like that Aiden encourage Tom to go off and pursue his dreams and career before they finally got together in the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some disappointment along the way
My view of life is that there needs to be a relationship beyond the physical. For me the relationship seems unrealistic as Aiden seems to be the one truly making the decisions while Tom is like an unhappy child. Yet I had hope for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice
HL has written a lovely short story that reverses the age gap, wealth gap tropes.
Love Aiden and Tom - has all the hallmarks of a HL book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting story, likeable characters.
This was and wasn't what I expected from Ms Day. It was a steamy and emotional read from start to finish. The characters were real, both interesting and entertaining, especially Tom.
However, what I didn't like was the decision made by both men, part way through the book. I know it made sense, but I wasn't keen on the way the relationship fizzled out and that they both dated other people. Although there are very few details of this time in their lives.
The above mentioned decision made sense, don't want to give any spoilers, but I like pure romance in my Christmas reading. Don't get me wrong, it is a good story and is very well written, just that particular section took the edge off the story for me personally.
Still, I'm a big fan of this lady's and I certainly won't stop buying or reading g her books. Read it for yourself, I seem to be in the minority here. Very well written, with good character development.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacking Substance
I hate to rate a Christmas story so low, but I just really didn't enjoy this story
Neither character seemed fully developed. Tom had a sad backstory, but that is all he seemed to rely on. Most of the story was focused on him being sad, and then the ending tried to shove a sweeping change into very little space that ended up just making him look like a selfish fool. I ended up just feeling bad for the other main character more than anything.
