A Christmas Wedding: A Winter Wedding MM Romance (Rory & Jack Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 209 ratings

When their dream wedding threatens to become a nightmare, can love save the day?

Rory and Jack’s Christmas Eve wedding should be a fairytale come true. Instead, it's spiralling into a high-society circus, orchestrated by Jack's formidable mother, Lady Diana.

As their big day draws near, Rory finds himself adrift in a world of society magazine announcements, an ever-expanding guest list, and fittings for London’s finest bespoke tailoring. It’s all a far cry from his modest — and decidedly non-aristocratic — roots, and the pressure’s beginning to show.

Jack is determined to give his fiancé the simple, romantic winter wedding they both desire. But to do so, he must confront the unstoppable force that is his mother, going against long held family traditions and expectations to give the man he loves the day he deserves.

As tensions rise, Rory and Jack must fight not only for their perfect day, but for each other, too.

This story contains two gorgeous men, a mountain of festive food, a punk rocker Christmas fairy called Bunty, and a snowy Christmas Wedding. One hundred percent Happy Ever After guaranteed.

Making Your Heart Pound... One Beat at a Time.

The stories I only ever told myself were set in a world where boy met boy, where best friends became more, where the hero rescued not the damsel but the hot guy he'd been secretly crushing on.

I wanted to read those stories. I craved to read those stories. But those stories weren't out there. Or that's what I thought, until one Christmas, when I unwrapped a shiny new e-reader. All it took was a few clicks, and my world changed forever.

I found my tribe.

But there is life outside of MM & gay romantic fiction in all its configurations. Allegedly.

When I'm forced to switch off the trusty, faithful word machine, there's a husband to feed and talk to, pubs to drink in, and cake to eat. I love to do all those things and more, before I rush back to write all the words.

I'm a Londoner, born and bred, but I now live just outside the big bad city but close enough to hop on a train so I can get my regular metropolitan fix.

The problems leading up to the day were a lot but I think Rory handled them rightly. Not wanting to hurt his mother-in-law law's feelings. There was a lot that he could have said but didn't. I loved the whole series but I fell in love with this book because this was where it finally comes together from that fateful day in a snow covered doorway for a homeless young man.

This is the third book in this series and it along with the other two have been enjoyable to read and I would recommend each one of them to any fan of M/M romance books

Generally speaking I find wedding sequels to very good two-character series overdone. They are usually full of angst and silly sidelines. That's why I was hesitant to grab this one because I loved the absolutely charming and heartfelt couple of novellas with two compelling MCs in Rory and Jack.

And for a few chapters, I was not all that satisfied I would get through it. That's because there was a lot of back and forth in and about the bake shop Rory and Jack had opened. Plus, a significant amount of potential angst was introduced into the wedding plans by Jack's well-meaning but totally controlling patrician mother which drove both he and foster-home survivor up the wall.

Then someone showed up sheepishly in the bakery one day, and everything changed. I was enchanted by the writing that got us through a very awkward situation that came completely out of the blue (well, you could imagine who the mystery character was right from the start, but no matter).

From there on things just jiggered up in pace and plot and by the time the vows were being recited I was completely besotted.

Cheers to Rory and Jack and author A.E. Ryecart for bringing them our way.

Oh this was so good. Such a good ending to this and a perfect way to end Rory and Jack’s story. I loved every word of this little trilogy story of their lives getting started together.

Will there be a book 4 . I would love to read about their life with children. Great reading from a great Writer.

I have a soft spot for these two, and I was thrilled to see a third and final installment that would provide proper closure to their story.

One of my pet peeves with the romance genre is that series authors often forget to invite their readers to the wedding. It's an unfortunate oversight because weddings, much like funerals, are hotbeds of drama and misbehavior. Rory and Jack's backstories had more enough of both to slake my thirst for chaotic madness at formal events.

Sadly, we didn't get any of it. Jack and Rory's story had a sweet, albeit uneventful close. This is a great pick if you're craving low angst fluff with familiar characters.

I have loved reading the trifecta that is Rory and Jack. Once I start, I can not put it down. That's how good the writing is. Hopefully there is more story to this couple in the future.

What began as a tender and tame story of finding the person meant to open the way from painful past experiences to contentment and love has now become a healing journey of finding a heart's true home and all the crazy complications that go along with that. Carving out your own forever isn't all cupcakes and rainbows, especially when stronger personalities get in the mix. Seeing Jack and Rory not only forge a stronger bond together, but also find their ideal balance was a perfect way to continue their story.

Rory and Jack have come a long way and all the steam we didn't get on their first Christmas is here in spades. In that department they never have any issues. I did find that the issues they did have mostly revolved around Rory's insecurities. Yes, his struggle with the wedding plans were there, but that was a minor issue when compared to his near constant comparisons of his upbringing versus Jack's

There was a surprise bit in there that really helped Rory to come to terms with everything and while I thought it was pretty appropriate for his part in the story, I kind of found it to be a bit ... sappy? I don't know how to adequately describe how I felt about that meeting, but I suppose it ended fine because it gave both closure and opened a future connection that had been missing in Rory's life until now. I just felt like it was used to "heal" him rather than him finding a way to give himself the eye-opening realization he needed to see the truth of his connection with Jack rather than the trappings that were an issue from the very start of their relationship.

Coming around full-circle to the holiday that brought them together, this was a very sweet story that shows how important love is, that without it it wouldn't matter how beautiful the season, how tacky the trimmings, or how sweet the frosting. What mattered most to Rory and Jack were the simple things that gave their love uniqueness and longevity. Communication was still a bit of an issue along with a few other bumps along their road, but their love and commitment smoothed them all out and gave them the fortitude to build a very sweet life together.

As with the two previous novels found this to be the ideal conclusion to the trilogy. Although having said that there are one of two characters in this novel which could be a followup?

    Highly recommended.

It was wonderful to catch up with Jack and Rory, two years down the track and preparing for their Christmas Eve wedding. Share their ups and downs and stresses with running a busy bakehouse and Jack's mother taking over the planning. It all comes together beautifully in the end.

Read all three books each one better than the others till the final one.
They all had me in tears but book three I was gone!

Hope there will be more about this happy couple!

Just enough of the lovemaking scenes without as in a lot of MM stories pages and pages of basically written porn.

Thanks for making me feel happy and sad all in a few sentences!

Well I won’t spoil it but...
