About the author

Lillian Francis. Author of gay romance. Happy Endings guaranteed. Eventually.
Lillian Francis is an English writer who likes to dabble in many genres but always seems to return to the here and now.
Her name may imply a grand dame in pink chiffon and lace, but Lillian is more at home in jeans, Converse, and the sort of T-shirts that often need explaining to the populous at large but will get a fist bump at Comic-Con. Lillian is a self-confessed geek who likes nothing more than settling down with a comic or a good book, except maybe writing. Given a notepad, pen, her Kindle, and an infinite supply of chocolate Hob Nobs and she can lose herself for weeks. Romance was never her reading matter of choice, so it came as a great surprise to all concerned, including herself, to discover a romance was exactly what she’d written, and not the rollicking spy adventure or cozy murder mystery she always assumed she’d write. Luckily there is always room for romance no matter what plot bunny chooses to bite her, so never say never to either of those stories appearing.
Lillian lives in an imposing castle on a windswept desolate moor or in an elaborate shack on the edge of a beach somewhere, depending on her mood. And while she’d love for the heroes of her stories to either be chained up in the dungeon or wandering the shack serving drinks in nothing but skimpy barista aprons more often than not they are doing something far less erotic like running charity shops and shoveling elephant shit.
Drawn to the ocean, although not in a Reginald Perrin sort of way, she would love to own a camper van and to live by the sea.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2017Loved this story. The characters are well developed and the two main characters are simply adorable. Grab a cup of something warm to drink, snuggle up and prepare to say "Awwwww".
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2021Glenn is need of care unexpectedly. His boyfriend bails. But then enter Bastian who is there to provide care and comfort. Together they start to have some feelings. The story ends with the idea of a great future.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2020This was an okay M/M read. I found the plot to be dragging at times but I kept on reading to see what would happen. I did get confused throughout the story at times as to what was happening and who was who. The main male characters were great but the narrator seemed to get off track easily making it hard to follow the story at times. I was a little frustrated at how wishy washy the narrator got at times, it made me question if he really was a grown man.
I give this a three out of five stars. The characters were okay but were wishy washy at times making it hard to get a read on them.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2022It’s been more than several 📚 in the “M/M ❤️🔥🎄HEA” before I finally 📖 another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, but Lillian Francis’ “Calamine & Christmas Cakes” is it. Between the entirely novel and captivating storyline and what had to be 2️⃣ of the most endearing romantic protagonists in quite a while, everything about this 1️⃣2️⃣1️⃣ 📄 story is a wonderful 💎.
The premise puts a poorly suited couple on romantic getaway, where one of our MCs becomes quarantined and the is abandoned by his paramour, only to be cared for by the “other” MC, a familial employee of the 🏨 and with that the story ensues.
The writing, the characters affability, the witty dialogue, plot exposition, the passion and romance, coupled with a charming assortment of employers, family, faculty and hotel staff make for just a wonderful, wonderful read.
I borrowed this on KU which I usually don’t do (I prefer to purchase my 📚), but I wasn’t familiar with the ✍️ or any had seen any other of her work being promoted so I thought I would 📖 it for free. However I love it so much I’m turning around and 💰 it anyway and scoured for more of her work to enjoy… (sorry if there are typos, but I’m going to take a nap 😴 w/out proofreading this… 😢 😬 🤦♂️‼️
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2020Glenn's romantic getaway was ruined when he contracted the measles. His then boyfriend, left him sick and never bothered to look back. The hotel workers found him on the floor, nude and covered in spots. He was helped back into bed by a hotel worker. The kind and gentle soul came to his rescue and its been intriguing from the start.
Bastian turns out to be more than just a traditional employee. Since he already had the measles, he agreed to help care for Glenn on a daily basis. What looked like just the hotel going above and beyond to care for a paying customer, quickly and gently morphed into so much more. Glenn not only received first rate care, he received a Christmas he'll never forget.
Despite there being a few slight misunderstandings, Glenn and Seb made your heart go pitter patter.
******************************************************
If its the one feature I absolutely hated, it was the self absorbed ex-boyfriend, Xander. From the very beginning he was a shady not-so-real boyfriend. As the story progressed, we realized how much of the relationship was truly one sided. All glitz and glamor, zero substance.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2020This story was recommended to me and I loved the title:) The beginning starts with Glen, an elementary school teacher, being ditched by his boyfriend at their hotel during Christmas due to a case of measles. His useless and insensitive boyfriend takes one look at the spots and freaks out before abandoning him. His caretaker, Seb, is the twinky pool boy but also a relative of the hotel owner. Since he already had measles, Seb offers to take care of Glen while he is in quarantine. Both men grow closer together while Glen is being taken care of, and their rapport was adorkable. Seb and Glen try to fight their attraction so they tentatively flirt around each other. Glen's quarantine Christmas is better than he expected when Seb surprises him. Loved the story and how both men met/fall in love. I look forward to reading more from this author!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2018I read this through Kindle Unlimited back in February and I still remember the basics of the plot and the characters - meaning that it was good enough to remember a few months later.
The story itself was so cute and I wished I could have read this during Christmas break when the story is set. The characters themselves are sweet and I loved the added tension of one of them being sick in a place with no one he knew there to help. His ex boyfriend didn't feel like a boyfriend from the get go - so his leaving didn't evoke as much sympathy for me.
Also, the ending and the "problem" that the two had to deal with felt a bit contrived. I could see the plausibility of it actually occurring, but after spending almost 2 weeks tirelessly taking care of this guy, you can not react the way that he did. And really this was where most of the rating went down for me - that and it just went by to quickly at the end. The pacing sped up too much.
Overall, it is still worth the read but don't expect some in depth emotional rollercoaster.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2021Glenn is at the beginning of a vacation with his self-absorbed man when he wakes up covered in spots - he's an elementary school teacher so that can happen - and in need of care which he is not going to get from Xander the jerk he needs to be done with. He does get good care from Bastian , who turns out to be a caring man who since he had already had the measles dedicates himself to Glenn's care. In the intensity of the situation they find that there is more there than just a kindness done over the holidays which after his previous relationship with the crappy Xander is a good thing for Glenn.
