A Claim for Calix: A Sci Fi Alien Romance (Tallean Mercenaries Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,168 ratings

He’ll do anything to find his mate!

Calix has been looking for his mate for years. There’s someone fated just for him, and no one else will do. But one look at Emma has Cal overwhelmed with protectiveness. He knows Emma is not the one, but that doesn’t stop him from stealing her and claiming her as his own.

Emma stinks.

Stinking is ideal for avoiding attention. But when it comes to the hot-as-sin alien mercenary who just rescued her from slavery, that’s the last thing she wants. Emma wants her muscle-bound hero, lock, stock, and barrel. Instead, he dumps her in the spare room to “keep her safe.” What a bummer!

But the more time they spend with each other, the more they realize they are perfect together. Will Calix give up his hunt for a mate to claim the female he loves? Or will Emma leave him in a misguided attempt to help him find his one true mate?

Can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the series. Growly mercenary and steamy scenes ahead. HEA guaranteed.

"Her new owner was going through buyer’s remorse, and he hadn’t even bought her."
Emma was abducted from Earth and sold into slavery. She's seen what happens to those who fight, she keeps her head down, learns the rules and follows them... but suddenly she finds herself in the hands of someone who doesn't play by the rules. Calix has been looking for a mate, but in Emma he discovers something more amazing, something humans call Love, now he just has to figure out a lot of details, like making her understand she's free. This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read stands solidly on its own. Its a great story about Cal having to navigate an unusual situation without the benefit of one of his senses, and Emma rediscovering herself in an environment where she feels safe.

Calix is a hired guard when he meets Emma. He is interested but what is that smell? There are twists and turns along with adventure and passion.

Calix and Emma are the perfect pairing. I've been hoping Calix would find his mate so this was a great way for them to meet! Great story and really nice to keep learning more and more about all the other characters in this crazy world. You should definitely read the series in order as each one builds on the last.

because it really explores what someone enslaved by aliens would feel without too much trauma. He is kind, she is healing, and together they are happy.

When he is sent on a guard assignment with two other crewmembers keeping a merchant safe in a meeting on neutral ground, he is given a " distraction " to "keep him calm". When he sees bruises on his distraction he decides that the small human slave will be leaving with his crew and their client, and when the clients opposition tried to kill him, Calix gathers his staff and client, including the small woman and leaves. Emma has been a Dominion slave for several months, and already sold three times, when Calix takes her she thinks it's just more of the same. Can Calix show Emma that she is freed and that he is wanting to love her , not hurt her? Can the ship complete it's next missions without the Dominion catching up to them? Lots of politics and tension, fights and anguish before the happy ending. This is a very good series and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Cal and Emma are perfect true faithful couple. And Emma quit naming your food. I loved how he was her knight in alien gear and rescued her from slavery and was such a gentleman. He would be a great dad Emma was more than she seemed smart and strong a survivor who thrived. Thanks for a great happily ever after

I was really looking forward to Calix's book but this didn't really do it for me. It seems they went from strangers to definite mates to soon to be parents in the span of 3 weeks? He didn't tell Emma she wasn't a slave as soon as he brought her to his ship. Communication could've easily cleared up a lot of her struggle in that part.
This book felt rushed overall and I am confused by the child stuff at the end since Emma was terrified of the fertility scientists from her previous trauma and then suddenly she's fine with being experimented on again AND she wants kids with a guy she literally met the week prior?
Another part that didn't sit right was that a man nearly kidnaps her and his blood is splattered all over her and freaks her out enough to be rightfully upset and crying about it, but then she wants sex to "forget" it happened. I know we are supposed to suspend a bit of disbelief, but if I were attacked and then sprayed with blood the last thing I'd be thinking of is having sex no matter how gorgeous my partner was.
This is the first book I had to make myself finish reading out of all of this author's books and I have read every single Xarc'n Warriors book and the previous Tallean Mercenary books to this one, too.
I am very excited about the next book with Holden, Ryek and Angie so I hope it is going to make more sense than this one did.

I liked this story Emma didn't get the easy road and was a slave and Cal has been on the look out for a mate for a while.

Started excitedly in the beginning and then tapered off into disinterest
Some storylines can be riveting from start to finish or they just aren't.
This one fell into that by a few chapters into it.
