There is no need for self hypnosis, or to try to be somebody we are not. This is about you authentically being you.

His book is a thoughtful discussion on how to build authentic self-esteem. He first teaches you how to identify strengths by recognizing all the things you have achieved. Then he gives practical ideas like learning to make eye contact and concentrating on really listening to people instead of just being concerned with speaking. Learning to listen to people is a skill that can take a long time to master, or so I've learned. I do however agree with Craig W. Hedge that changing your inner dialogue to more positive thoughts is essential. This book was a reminder to me of all the things it takes to build self-confidence. Like other books in the series, it was a response to what I see in some areas of the confidence movement, as being a little too Hollywood and extroverted.What do I mean?There is a lot of noise around building confidence.There is a danger when we seek confidence, that we look outside of, or away from ourselves.Personally, and professionally, my focus is on building authentic confidence from the inside out. To acknowledge who we are, and what we have, before we take on images or expectations outside of ourselves.So in simple terms, understanding that self esteem and a strong sense of self is present and intact prior to undertaking other ways of building confidence.How does it relate to other books I have written?My books generally have a theme of transformation and inner change. This comes from my spiritual values as much as from my professional values as a Professional Life Coach and a Lifestyle Mentor.All books in the series focus in on personal power, empowerment and moving confidently through life being, and becoming, who it is you are.My books look towards authentic personal growth and creating a life of possibilities and opportunities - all done in alignment to your beliefs, values and your being.

    This was my first experience with Craig Hedge. In this book, Craig discusses confidence from his own unique perspective. One of his main points is that confidence comes from better understanding yourself and your strengths. He makes a convincing argument that this is the way to build "true" confidence that can sustain through good times and bad. This is contrasted with confidence from material things, which can only give you a temporary, fragile boost in confidence.

    Questionable Part: I think the ideas lack a certain depth. I would have appreciated him spending more time exploring some of the ideas he discusses.
    Best parts: Craig's own voice sharing his ideas. He is clearly passionate about his work. I also appreciated how the book was broken up into many small chapters.

    Hedge writes with an easy, very readable style. He provides good examples to use as effective tools for self development.
