The Cursed Witch (The Coven: Fae Magic Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 2,712 ratings

What is magic?

My name is Saraphina Proctor...and that’s the only thing I can remember.

I woke up alone, surrounded by darkness with no memory. No one here knows who I am, I don’t fit any of the missing persons reports, and the doctors can’t find a single thing wrong with me…my memory…my life…they’re just…gone.

But something lurks in the shadows in Salem, watching me…waiting. I feel its eyes on my back and my name whispered in the wind. Even in the light of day the friendly smiles around town put me on edge.

Someone isn’t telling me the truth but I will find out what happened to me…and I think Riah knows more than his pretty mouth is telling me. There's a story in those golden eyes of his, now I just need to get close enough to him to find out…

The Cursed Witch is the first book in the sequel spin off in The Coven Saga, featuring a fiery half-breed, a brooding fae knight, and a secret romance cursed to time.

*Disclaimer: Fae Magic is Season Three in The Coven Saga. It can be read as a standalone but is best to be read after Season One - Elemental Magic and Season Two Academy Magic.

Another great book from a great author
I loved it from beginning to the end. the story of how saffie became who she was vs now she knows. I liked Riah until I read who and what he is however in previous books of practical magic he is with keltie so we know he needs to be good in the end plus they are soulmates was even better. Cant wait for the next book. Hopefully it will be before December just saying :)

I may be biased… There is no may about it, I am biased. The author of this series is on my top ten all-time favorite authors list. She is on the automatically buy don’t even read the blurb list. . That being said, going into Saffie’s book, I felt that she was going to change things up. The main character for Elemental Magic series, Tegan was a hard-core, sneaky gotta love her kinda character. The main character for Academy Magic, Bettina was a girl next door turned kick-butt, I will prove you wrong kinda gal. So what would the Cursed Witch bring? Especially since the main character was introduced in the first series, Elemental Magic. Well, when her cursed ended at the end of the Academy Magic series it brought with it anemia for Saraphina Proctor, known to those who love and care for her as Saffie.
The breaking of the curse sent Saffie back to Salem, where she woke up with anemia. Which means everything we thought we knew about her was now out the window, which was a game changer for sure. Saffie’s personality doesn’t go away, but it does evolve into a beautifully written vulnerable heroine. Her determination, grit, and positive attitude are still there. She is still learning about the world around her but without the help of the coven, which is fantastic. Please don’t get me wrong I love the coven members. I just appreciate the beautifulness of Saffie learning about herself and who she is without someone saying things like that is not how you use to do it. To circumvent this, two new characters were introduced Gigi and Savannah, who befriend Saffie and show her what she has been missing while cursed (unbeknown to them) to an amusement park for centuries.
Riah is one of my absolute favorite heroes. He is so conflicted between duty and his feelings for Saffie. As a fae knight, Riah has been tasked by the Fae Prince Thorne to watch over Saffie has done so for three hundred years. Can you imagine? Watching over someone for three hundred years, the emotions/ feelings that may develop? Not only that but knowing also that she is meant for another. There is a plan, and he has to stick to the plan. He tries to protect her throughout the book as well as push her away. The back and forth should have given me whiplash instead it was explained in such a way that I completely got why he was running hot and cold. It made sense so much so that I couldn’t image him doing anything else expect what he did. The chapters that were in Riah point of view sets the background for their relationship and how he plays into Saffie’s story.

The author has a way of making sure that the secondary characters have a voice to be heard. They bring an added dimension to this story, which allows their friendship with Saffie to grow organically. Landrea makes the perfect mentor for Saffie, having fostered other teens. The cameos from other Coven members were an added bonus. My favorite being that of Cooper whose presence in this addition shows the growth that a secondary character can undergo throughout a series if the author is just that damn good. This author really is.
When I say this book brought all the feels, I mean all the feels. The first three chapters my heart was racing, my breath was short and I was in a panic. I read this in one sitting and came to regret that decision. It was over way to soon which is saying something since the book was 454 pages long. It ends in a cliffhanger that leaves you asking where the next page is.

I should start off by saying I am a HUGE fan. I own every book Chandelle has written including her collaboration books.
This series though (The Coven, including academy magic and Fae) are literally my favorite thing. I own them in all formats. From paperback to audio book and I have read/listened to them many times.
I absolutely love the way Chandelle weaves everything together. Her talent not only lies in her ability to tell a fantasy story with relatable characters (which is not necessarily easy to do when we are talking about witches and Fae and dragons) but also in weaving each and every book in all sections of the series together in a way that is unpredictable and extremely enjoyable. I would recommend these books to anyone and everyone no matter the age I think there is something for everyone to live within their pages

    Compelling to the last word.
Since the moment I started reading Chandelle's books, I've been captivated, completely unable to keep myself from returning to these pages. Having binged read through the Cursed Witch, I started suffering from withdrawals and immediately started reading the entire series for a third time. I have a million books on my "to read" list but ever since I picked up these books, I haven't made much headway through my list.
The Cursed Witch is just as epic and captivating as the first two seasons, if not more so. Although I will always relate to Bettina the most, especially since her season was the first one I read (out of order - oops), Saffie's story is everything and more than I imagined. The foresight, planning, and story spinning is mind-blowing. The seeds, hints, and snippets that are scattered throughout these stories shows Chandelle has a plan, a path for these stories, and holy, I do not know how she does it.
And that ENDING! How am I supposed to make it through the months leading up to the next book? Whelp, good thing I have bought every single one of the other books.

    **Warning! Cliffhanger!**
This is book one of the Fae Magic season of the Coven series BUT… You need to read the elemental series and the academy series first because the heroine in this book has a detailed history you can only read about there!
It also ends on a cliffhanger, par for the course with this ongoing series.

When Saraphina Proctor awakens in Salem Massachusetts, she has no memory of her life from before, all she knows is her name.
That means there is a lot for her to learn, like how to fit in at school, what style of clothes she likes… and what magic is!

This is a fast paced story, that fans of the Coven interconnected series will enjoy, and that urban fantasy fans will love.
There is a lot going on in the book, and it’s sure to keep you guessing.

One of the things that I love about this author is that she writes in such a way that I am hooked from the first line. This book was no exception. The author brings us to Salem, MA and not just for a visit but for a stay. The details that the author brings into the story about different places in Salem and different ceremonies related to being a witch was just a joy to read. Seeing how Saffie navigates with new friends and without her memory was such a fun experience and I hope we get some more of that throughout Season 3. I also loved seeing or hearing about some of our favorite old friends and can’t wait to see how they tie in throughout this next Season. The twists and turns throughout the book left me hanging on my seat. Just a day later and I’m still sad the book is over. I’ll definitely be rereading it again very soon. It was entirely worth the wait! The author keeps getting better with each book and I can’t wait to read the next installment.

Saffie's memory being gone was stressful to read but she find witches to telly on that make the book a big magical adventure from the beginning, the seance scene make me laugh ream hard I love it and the hole Riah-Saffie romance is awesome even though I really hate Riah for giving her out to Prince Thorne

A great start to a new season of The Coven! From the first page your drawn into Saffie's world, what happened to her, who the guy that follows her and disappears is, where does she come from, who is she, what that guy is, what she is...

This is yet another book, like all of Chandelle's other Coven books I recommed this to anyone over 16 to any age really (I'm personally late 30's) it has a brilliant storyline and innuendo to 'adult' but doesn't actually go there.

Such a brilliant series! This was my first book I read of Chandelle's before I went down the rabbit hole of the coven and the reread was a brilliant reminder of my love for her books. The storyline and detail that goes into them I would highly recommend them to any reader.
