His former stepfather.
Their bond is forbidden. Their relationship could upend lives. But their love? It’s a force of nature…

- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2018I really don't even know how to begin reviewing this beautiful book.
All I can say is this is profound!
And filled with wisdom, and the sort of messages that most of us don't, and probably never will, come close to understanding.
This young author has done a fantastic job with this story...
The book is so well written and the characters immensely well developed.
I have read many, many mm stories, and have never felt the electrical chemistry between two MCs as I did in this one. The attraction between these two guys literally sizzles right from their first introduction.
This book brings an understanding to the reader, of so many hidden emotions and struggles... and the author has succeeded in drawing the reader right into the heart of the tension and emotions of the characters.
I can only say, this book had a profound effect on me. I will remember this story for a long, long time!
Just brilliant! Well worth every penny spent.
Wishing for much more from Seth. I'll be watching closely for his works.
This book stands completely alone.
Heat level borders on "ouch, burning hot".
HEA that you almost give up on, it's so close! LOL
(My only gripe is that there are lots and lots of editing hits and misses. This book needs to be proofread
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2018Seth King is a new to me author. He has a great grasp of getting into a character’s head, writing a realistic character, and letting the reader know the thoughts and feelings of the main protagonist.
Robert and Elliot have a complicated relationship. Because of this relationship, many delicate issues arise.
The author takes you through the confused thoughts of Eliot. Why does he let David come with him? Why does he feel what he feels about Robert? We also see Robert’s point of view. He’s recently come to terms with his sexuality. Should he be a part of Eliot’s life?
I liked the prose and the dialogue. It’s probably the best thing that stands out in the storytelling. The writing makes you see the characters as real people with serious issues. I loved flawed characters and these two are as flawed as they come. Nonetheless I was rooting for them. Rooting that they’d overcome the barriers that family and society (and their conflicted thoughts about each other) place between the two of them
A solid 4.5 Stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2018I am absolutely floored by this book. Seth King has a way to bring raw emotions to life with every book he releases. What a beautiful story. The love Eliot and Robert share is so pure and yet not widely accepted in society. I always admired in Seth King his reflection on acceptance of how society, up until today, still struggles with same sex relationships. Daddy Issues really gives you a lot to think about. Too many people stereotype and it makes me sad. Like Seth pointed out in this book "love is love" and it should not matter who we fall in love with as long as we are happy. Through Seth Kings books I have not only learned so much but also healed myself in a way. This book is no different. Robert and Eliot had to hide their affection to each other because of how people would react. We should never have to hide who we love but people can be cruel. I will be sharing this book with other readers for sure. If you have not read any of Seth Kings books you need to start. Not only is he an extremely gifted writer but also an incredible human being. Congratulations Seth on this amazing book.

But....
Gay Romance novels are fun, but readers always look forward to the romantic interludes, especially where the reader gets sucked into the room. And, while in that room, the Reader gets to witness the couple's lovemaking.
We all agree that in today's society, that "Love is love, is love". But Honey, readers want more love in your novels - i.e. a lovemaking scene in every chapter. With so many mundane scenes in this book I quickly grew board.
Yes I was bored; I wanted more scenes where the two leads interacted in that special way two men in love can have. I wanted scenes that grasped my attention, one's that wanted me to rise up and shout "Hallelujah, the Lord has come."
I was frequently bored and found myself skimming pages to get to the more "juicier" parts. They were few and far between. I skipped and I skimmed through a large portion of this novel.
When I was about 75% through, I wondered if there'd be a big climactic scene in the last chapter. When I got there, I expected to find the the climax of the story, the scene where the two protagonists realize they've been a$$shats, reconcile with themselves (and each other), and finally end up between the sheets for the real climax of the story.
Did that happen? Nope.
When I came to the conclusion of Daddy Issues, I was glad at the story, with the results. But we were back in a monastery; no climatic final (between the sheets) ending. I was dissatisfied at this flaccid turn of events.
Oh well. Time to go hunting for Twinks; this Daddy wants some.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressed
I've read other "Step" books and was actually impressed with this one. And this author, always makes you go through the ups and downs with the characters. So tighten your seat belts, people. The ride can get bumpy but it's so worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant story from an amazing author
When I read the excerpts Seth King posted on his author page for Daddy Issues, I had high expectations for this book and Seth did not disappoint.
22 year old Elliot Prince and 41 year old Robert Glazer had an instant attraction when they met following the death of Elliot’s grandmother. Only it wasn’t the first time they were meeting. Ten years previous, Robert had been married to Elliot’s mother for a very short time before he accepted his sexuality and told her he was gay. During the marriage Elliot barely knew Robert as he lived with his father and didn’t spend much time with his mother. Despite this fact, they still felt it was wrong to pursue each other and tried to fight the attraction which only grew stronger until they were craving each other.
Daddy Issues is a beautiful love story told from both Elliot and Robert points of view, which I really loved because it gave the reader an insight into what both characters were thinking and feeling during this emotional roller coaster of a story.
It is really hard to review a Seth King book and tell you what I loved without using spoilers, and there was so much that I loved that I can’t tell you. You have to experience this book for yourself.
This book is funny, emotional, suspenseful, and is packed with family drama. It had me crying sad and happy tears. I would expect nothing else from Seth King’s writing. It’s one of the things I love most about Seth’s work is that he makes the reader feel what his characters are feeling.
There are some steamy scenes in this book, but I think it is just enough to enhance the story and not there for the sake of it. Although I am not opposed to some hotness.
I wanted to read it slowly to savour the first time read and at the same time read it quickly because I needed to know the plight of these characters. As usual the need to know in me won and I read the book quickly. The ending was the worst part about this book, because it ended and it left me wanting more.
This is another 5-star book from Seth King and that’s only because the rating doesn’t go higher.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good love story because love is love and age is just a number.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW
WOW... I love Seth's books but I think this is my favourite, I was taken on a mental and emotional rollercoaster with these characters. Could not put this book down. I was kept guessing especially towards the end (in tears) I thought it was going one way then BAM,NOPE. I cannot recommend this book enough, cannot wait for another story to add to my Seth collection/obsession. Thankyou ,💜

2.0 out of 5 stars Eine sehr, sehr lange Woche
