A Dangerous Dance (Haven Hart Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,192 ratings

Finally working for a man he can trust has given Bill a new purpose. His boss, Christopher Manos, commands respect and absolute loyalty, and Bill has proven himself worthy of a seat at Christopher’s table. Becoming best friends with Christopher’s husband, Snow, has further proven his allegiance and cements a place for him in the Manos family. When Snow’s life is in danger, Christopher places his full trust in Bill to destroy anything and anyone that poses a threat to his husband. But hunting and wiping out the enemy for the safety of everyone Bill cares about means partnering with the one person he has vowed to never see again.

Mace wears a mask of vain cockiness and uses his model good looks to his full advantage. Known to many as Without a Trace Mace, he’s a deadly assassin well known for wiping out whole families and getting away without a trace. With a dangerous past and an unknown future, Mace uses his veil of conceit to keep others at a distance, rarely trusting anyone. When his boss, Black--the one man he trusts above all others—gives him his next assignment, he learns his newest partner is none other than Bill, the man he’d do anything to avoid.

With the safety of the Manos family on the line at the hands of a brilliant maniac, Bill and Mace begrudgingly put their differences aside to ensure Snow, and his loved ones, are protected from harm. With their lives in grave danger and the clock ticking towards zero hour, they navigate deathly perilous situations and uncertain outcomes, hoping they survive long enough to keep the Manos family safe.

Bill and Mace’s traitorous hearts draw them closer together no matter how hard they fight the inevitable. With the lives of their loved ones hanging in the balance, they find themselves in the middle of a dangerous dance. But when the music stops, will they both be left standing?

4.75 stars. This is my favorite book so far, in terms of the balance between characters I love and a fast-paced high stakes plot that has a climactic event that matches the intensity of the buildup throughout the story. Although Bill and Mace aren't my favorite in terms of MCs we've met in this series, I still enjoyed them! The plot also once again brings the two major crime bosses and their 'families' together, so we still have enough screen-time from Snow, Christopher, and Black. Although I would have loved to see Riordan and Teddy, it made sense why they were only mentioned in passing throughout. Ultimately, a wild ride that I couldn't put down!

Knowing what I know now about this book, would I still read it if I went back in time?
Definitely! This is turning into a series that I may go back and reread sometime!

See below for the four criteria I use to decide whether and when to read a book

CHARACTERS: We first met Bill in book one and Mace in book two, so we were already coming to this book with two characters that we have some knowledge of already. I really adored the quirks that Bill had, especially because they truly felt oh-so-Norwegian! He and Mace came together as enemies in the previous book, but watching their relationship change in this book from enemies-to-lovers was a highlight! Davidson tackled it so well and it felt so incredibly them. Where Bill hates games and is blunt and to the point, Mace spends so much of his persona playing games because he's been 'playing' a role for so long. Their particular quirks start out as incredibly irksome to each other, but they end up balancing so well together. How their very-particular characters were handled as they fell in love was impeccable.

PLOT: When an old crime family rival appears and threatens Snow, Christopher calls in Black's help and the two crime bosses task Bill and Mace to find and eliminate the threat. So while Bill's family is in 'hiding', he very much has skin in the game, whereas Mace takes the job because he's tasked to by Black, who had no choice since Christopher helped him in the previous book. So the plot centers around Bill and Mace learning how to work together with their very different skillsets to find their adversary before he not only kills Mace and Bill, but eventually Snow as well. This is a wild and fast-paced ride right out the gate, exactly what you'd expect from a Die Hard film but with romance too. (Yes, Die Hard is referenced.) The stakes are high and we are truly swept away in the life and death as well as the mysteries that occur when on the side they realize just how deep the secrets of Haven Hart really are (aka setting us up for more books!).

EMOTIONAL INTENSITY: There is no good/bad here. Sometimes I just want a low-investment entertainment read whereas other times a high-stakes 'I need a therapist to recover' is what I need.

3:5/medium. This story definitely had moments that for some could be TWs, especially when we're dealing with crime bosses, an assassin, a "bodyguard" of sorts, and a sociopath adversary.

CATHARTIC FULFILLMENT: Is the emotional journey worth it? Do I finish this book feeling that I've crested the wave of the climactic moment and everything has been settled, leaving me settled and fulfilled?

99%. I was so thrilled when Davidson kept the intensity going straight through the climactic moment and didn't shy away from really giving it to us. Although I knew it would be a HEA, I felt so satisfied that we got to see them really work for it and succeed in the end.

I enjoyed this and loved watching these two men go from hate to love. The one star taken was because I was a little disappointed by how incompetent they were at their jobs. Not sure how they were able to stay alive and get as far as they did with all the mistakes/tstl behaviour. Still, it was hot, deadly, and bloody. If you've enjoyed the first two then this is a must.

A Dangerous Dance is the third book in the Haven Hart series and can be read as a standalone just fine but if you want the full experience you need to read Davidson King's first two books as well. Those give a lot more background information about our MCs ( we meet both Bill and Mace previously) and also the universe we visit with this series and all the secondary characters who appear from the previous books.
If you are a fan of this author you will get her usual writing mastery. Davidson King found her unique voice, gripping style in the sea of upcoming authors that made her a definite must read in my book. This one is the best book so far in this series in my opinion. I was hooked and glued to the pages. Mace and Bill are just my kind of guys and their forming relationship is the perfect kind of romance for my taste.
I adore the way these two fall in love. I admit I have a twisted sense of romance and the author caters for all my needs. The chemistry is over the top, the sex scenes (that I often skip in my books) were amazingly well written and I read every word (sometimes twice). The action, adventure, excitement part of the plot is well built and the writing is so powerful that you'll feel all range of emotions from heartbreaking, disturbing, disgusting to heartwarming, and romantic.
Get ready for a book that you will not be able to put down. Enjoy. Highly recommended.

    Holy Freaking Crap!!

That’s what I have to say after finishing this book! Mace and Bill’s story is hot and freaking perfect and was well worth the wait. They take us on an emotionally charged journey of death, destruction, revenge, self exploration, sexual satisfaction, and maybe they even learn to like each other a little bit. There is violence and mob bosses, twists and turns you don’t see coming and an insane bad guy you’ll love to hate. It’s not all puppies and unicorns in their love story, but if you’ve read anything by Davidson King already, you’d know to expect the unexpected. The secondary cast of characters are second to none and getting to dive deeper into the lives of these mysterious men is something you don’t want to miss! There are hints as to the next book’s couple and I can’t flippin’ wait! The world that the author has created is complex and vivid and getting to revisit old favorite characters is wonderful. This series is to die for... literally!

We saw how much Bill and Mace antagonise each other in previous books, now they get their turn to work on an operation together to track down an enemy after Snow.
They butt heads like a pair of bulls but somewhere along the way attraction becomes more.
It's great to see a softer side of Mace and also two men who are equally matched become partners.
It's violent, sweet, funny, spicy and we get to meet Quill.

Wow what another totally awesome story. A Dangerous Dance is a fantastic addition to Snow Falling and Hug It Out. I have fallen in love with all of these boys and this series. I love how Davidson King writes, She can take us to the dark side of characters while still keeping the goodness of them . This makes for a thrilling, gripping journey where you get the whole range of emotions. I was gripped on page 1 and did not put it down until I got to the end. Bill and Mace are two very strong men. They cannot stand each other but they have to work together to protect the very loving and feisty Snow who you meet in Snow Falling. Its exciting, hot, thrilling, heartbreaking and heart mending. I very highly recommend reading this story. I absolutely loved it. 5 star plus plus plus plus plus from me

Davidson King is an amazing author, she tells a story and doesnt fill it with fillers, everyone word is part of the story. It is great she doesnt spend a page describing what the house looks like or car, or someone hair or anything just to fill the pages. The sex scenes are not pages long of the same thing, they are meaningful to the point and part of the story.
This one took me a bit longer to get into but once I did couldnt put it down. Bill and Mace were really good together and they fell in love slowly, they did loose some of there banter which was sad. Mace was perfection and Bill just wanted to belong. Loved the ending of this book.
Of to read the next one.

Like "snow falling" and "hug it out" this is another great book by Davidson King. What I love about the books most is the great story. You think you have it figured out, but then event's take a turn and everything is different. The characters are beautifully written and even the side characters have importance in his books. People you met in the first book, are playing a role in the following books. I can't wait until the next book.
