Date At Eight: An enthralling friends to lovers lesfic romance Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 34 ratings

Tess Harding’s whole life revolves around romance – other people’s romances, that is! As a date planner, Tess gets to facilitate the romantic lives of all of her clients, but she doesn’t really have the time or energy for her own. In fact, since coming out, she hasn’t dated a single woman.

Frankie Davison is desperately trying to reignite her relationship with Olivia – without much luck at all! When she stumbles across a brochure promoting ‘Date at Eight’ a service that creates romantic dates, she books them in for a series of six dates. Unfortunately, Olivia is a very reluctant participant and when she learns that the owner of Date at Eight is another school mum, she’s even more reluctant.

Tess is thrilled to assist Frankie and Olivia – her first ever lesbian clients – but it turns out that playing cupid for an ambivalent couple is the hardest job she’s ever had… and her growing attraction to Frankie is going to make it even harder!

Very enjoyable slow burn romance. The character's are interesting and likable. The character's start as being friends and romance begins. Thanks for a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Romance!
Reviewed in Australia on March 21, 2022
This slow burn, friends to lovers is the perfect book if you’re looking for a sweet romance!

Set in Canberra, Australia we follow Tess and Frankie. Tess is a single mum who has a daughter in the same class as Frankie’s son. Frankie isn’t single at the start of the novel as she’s in a relationship that has technically been over for a year. It’s about a quarter way through the book when that relationship officially ends. It is interesting to see one of the MCs in another relationship in a lesfic romance, and to be clear there is no cheating involved- although I am not certain that Frankie’s wife didn’t cheat on her with the blonde mum from school!

Both Tess and Frankie are amazing mothers, but have neglected the romance in their lives, even though Tess is in the business of romance.

Now, this is slow burn. Like mega slow burn. The two MCs don’t get together until well over 50% of the book. Speaking of tropes- the miscommunication trope is used in this book with the miscommunication being cleared up towards the end.

This book will delight fans of lesfic romance, especially those who love when the two MCs build a friendship into a relationship.

All in all, this was a very sweet romance. It’s a quick read and that’s exactly how I like my romances! If you love a slow burn romance then this is the story for you.
